There's a piece in the Times this morning about a 14 yo concerned about 'hate speech' incidents being recorded against schoolchildren which may be of interest.

This is ridiculous. It's such a waste of police time. Obviously, there will be incidents in school with violence and harassment which should be looked into, but people expressing views even if they're stupid or ridiculous don't need to be monitored by the police.

I'm worried about Scotland as it's even worse here. There's a bill on hate crimes the government are trying to get through but thankful lots of people are against it, so it's being changed. Already you have ridiculous cases so I don't know why it's necessary. One such case I read about was a guy in an email to his ex-girlfriend called her new Irish boyfriend a leprechaun and he was taken to court and fined for racism.

In a rare outbreak of common sense, Kate Scottow's "hate crime" harassment conviction was quashed by the High Court today.
