Good grief Cara, I haven't seen a move like that since Queen Mary had that awful attack of gripe and they put all the Harrods flags at half mast.
My hat is off.

WaveWalker · 07/12/2020 13:32

I had my first ever full blown panic attack 20 years ago when some v posh people started playing mornington crescent spontaneously in a long car journey. I had never heard of it before....

WaveWalker · 07/12/2020 13:35

^ not implying that anyone on this thread is posh btw Grin
My brain still startles when I come across it in the wild Blush

CaraDuneRedux · 07/12/2020 13:40

Sorry WaveWalker. If it helps, I am not posh, just grew up in a house where my mum had radio 4 on pretty much all the time.

Isn't that the Glamis Gambit, Cara?

I was in a bar once in which a truly boring person was going on and on and on about something or other and several people started to play Mornington Crescent in self-defence. She then wanted it explained to her.

PopperUppleton · 07/12/2020 13:53

I miss Humph

That's bar, not car, right? Hmm
DeaconBoo · 07/12/2020 13:59

Oh dear, Wave! I can kind of see that sort of thing panicking me, though!

WaveWalker · 07/12/2020 13:59

I thought I'd gone mad Grin

WaveWalker · 07/12/2020 14:09

Don't let me stop the game, btw.

Brixton via kennington Hmm

WaveWalker · 07/12/2020 14:10

^using Thompson's third rule

That's it, I'm out Grin

WaveWalker · 07/12/2020 14:14

I was asking them to explain it Blush and they just told me the rules were obvious and I'd pick it up as I went along.
Please don't feel the need to explain it to me - it was 20 years ago and I still laugh (bitterly) about it now - they'd been horrible people all weekend and that was the cherry on top.

WaveWalker · 07/12/2020 14:14

^ I don't think any of you are horrible people btw...

I'm going to stop digging....

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 07/12/2020 14:39

😀

I’m not quick enough for Mornington Crescent

Definitely. On the evidence of your posts I don't believe you are as boring as she was anyway. Nor have you ever gone on at length about Mediaeval torture, or at least not at me, and not at breakfast. And I don't suppose you think you are in psychic touch with Richard III either?

WaveWalker · 07/12/2020 16:11

Hmm. I feel a bit of a spiritual pull towards st hilda of whitby, but haven't tried having a natter with her yet. Thank you for reassuring me we weren't in the same boat bar/car

KINNING PARK

MichelleofzeResistance · 07/12/2020 16:57

Kinning Park? On a Monday? Hang on, are we going with the Blackpool '97 ruling on this? I thought that inquiry never completed.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 07/12/2020 17:42

Too many of the adjudicators died, I think. Something like that, anyway. It was entirely their own fault for selecting an entire board aged over eighty-five in the first place.

ArabellaScott · 07/12/2020 17:48

I invoke the 2012 Lancashire amendment! And I think you'll find that will hopscotch me to Marylebone. (Albeit lengthways).

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 07/12/2020 17:57

Then it has to be Green Park on the rebound, doesn't it?

MichelleofzeResistance · 07/12/2020 18:03

Aha! Then I'll grab the gap with both hands and it's a sideways slide to Upminster.

ArabellaScott · 07/12/2020 18:03

Ooh, sneaky. I don't see anyone refusing that. Even with a wig on.

WaveWalker · 07/12/2020 20:33

That's dreadful about the inquiry adjudictors - I see there's a whole lot of history to read up about.
I'm wigging up, or trying to..

Ealing Broadway, covered by Tudor court rules.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 07/12/2020 21:40

Erm.... OK, Tudor rules it is. Hampton Court.
