Time for a new thread. Please can someone c&p the header post? (Am on phone.)

I opened my virtual mouth at that WH thread and then gave up. What a lot of hearsay and froth!

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 08/01/2021 13:35

A useful additional link to the C&P header for this thread:

Cheap talk skepticism occurs when someone expresses skepticism in a way that comes at little cost to them, though it frequently comes at a significant cost to others. For example, if I express glib doubt about the personhood of another group of sentient beings, when my personhood is highly unlikely to be questioned, that would be cheap talk skepticism. Furthermore, if I received praise and positive reinforcement for my skeptical signaling, we could see that skepticism as effectively free of cost.
…
cheap talk skepticism externalises a social cost by driving quality skepticism out of the marketplace of ideas. Quality skepticism is research intensive. It’s not easy to do quality skepticism and still produce hot takes across a wide range of topics, which is something that public intellectuals are unfortunately pressured to do in order to stay relevant. Properly justified belief lags behind misinformation in the best of times. Cheap talk skepticism widens that gap by forcing skeptics to correct this sort of internal misinformation alongside all the other forms of cheap talk out there.

Yes. The pimp’s daughter post was very insightful.

Winesalot · 10/01/2021 06:36

Wonderful. An early morning riser to be validated it seems. The bats are a bit fruity this morning as they fly over.

ItsLateHumpty · 10/01/2021 08:10

Yes, a lovely bit of ‘transphobia’ to get us started this morning Wines Brew

Winesalot · 10/01/2021 08:12

At least they were quick with the tropes. And their pointy fingers of shame.

Molesmokes · 10/01/2021 08:25

A monkey landed on the bandwagon, showed its arse and farted Grin

Winesalot · 10/01/2021 08:38
Grin

Well. There was plopping involved too.

Molesmokes · 10/01/2021 09:01

And then it was gone! Wonder what blew it up?

Yes, I only caught the first page before it went poof. Did it get any better?

Biscuitsanddoombar · 10/01/2021 09:05

Surprised it’s gone so soon - coukdbt see anything beyond the usual....

Winesalot · 10/01/2021 09:08

No gardenbird. After they threw around the bigot card, OP didn’t return. I thought it was rather circumspect from MN poster’s side. It seemed quite obvious it was validation that was needed and only a few got pulled in enough to give it.

It certainly wasn’t going anywhere though. Except eventually on screenshots.

Winesalot · 10/01/2021 09:19

And surely it is not good practice to post images of yourself on an anonymous forum?

Molesmokes · 10/01/2021 09:25

An image of somebody anyway. Who knows who that might be. Must confess I could not overcome the temptation to do a reverse image search but the result came back telling me it was a flower pot! Grin

MichelleofzeResistance · 10/01/2021 09:28

Gone. No explanation as to why or how it broke the guidelines.

Unfortunate, as while very clearly a Sunday morning jolly for someone, there were questions there that could do with facing and answering in this debate.

MichelleofzeResistance · 10/01/2021 09:30

Thought too it was very shallow waters considering we've had the 'you're all friends with the stormers of the capitol building' negative generalisations this week which were happily left to stand. Apparently negative generalisations about women who want rights are fiiiiine.

Winesalot · 10/01/2021 09:35

Yeah, but Michelle, I doubt those answers would have been forthcoming. Maybe, but considering how quickly the ‘bigot’ got rolled out, not likely.

ItsLateHumpty · 10/01/2021 09:41

Maybe MN agreed that the OP was transphobic.

CaraDuneRedux · 10/01/2021 11:45

Whatever the reason, I'm just glad the "pay attention to meeeeee give me the narc supply I crave" got pulled. Good call, whoever made it.

"I'd like everyone to talk about BDSM and validate my fetish."

No thanks.

fatblackcatspaw · 12/01/2021 16:08

'.... and I'm back! I've decided that the only way I can survive the present circumstances we find outselves in is SLOE GIN!! Has anyone had a decent commercially made one and can recommend? I was practically weeping when I got to do my Asda order and found that the one I'd found a few days before was not available.

CaraDuneRedux · 12/01/2021 16:40

I don't think the BDSM fetishist is getting validation in the sense of agreement. Though of course a bit of robust disagreement might be just the sort of response a certain type of masochist was after.

ooooh shall I take up the opportunity to be patronised and shouted at by a stroppy teenager?? I think not......

the Christmas chocolates I packed away last week have been very much unpacked again....

CaraDuneRedux · 12/01/2021 16:45

It is making me realise how incredibly lucky I am with my teen.

I often find myself thinking of that poem that starts "Everyone stop what you're doing. Everyone listen to Me."

I can't think why.
