I can't believe that journalists would report Keira's victory as a win for kids being able to access blockers. That's surely just not true. WTF is wrong with their professional integrity?

Clymene · 01/12/2020 11:19

I think we can conclude that that MSM has been totally captured by trans ideology if they can spin this as a win. We knew that anyway but good to have it confirmed.

The court found in favour of Keira Bell and Mrs A.

Vermeil · 01/12/2020 11:19

Phew!
Well done Kiera.
One thing I hope comes out of this is an acknowledgement that all the noise, anguish, and potential bad law is coming off the back of something that is far from understood, is chronically (and it seems deliberately) underresearched, encompasses too many groups who shouldn’t really be lumped together, and that those who claim to represent the movement only actually represent a small part of it, who’s interests may not be the same as others shoved under the trans umbrella.
The ground has shifted, the cracks are showing.

MammothMashup · 01/12/2020 11:19

life-saving puberty blockers.

Fuck off with your gaslighting.

Winesalot · 01/12/2020 11:20

Tavistock has proposed a pause in referrals

But this would be counter productive. They should certainly continue to take on patients, however, the focus should be on intensive mental health therapy and getting rid of the bullshit theory that any other than transition is conversion therapy. Mental heath treatment and working to accept your body until you can make the decision as an adult.

And hopefully the 'community' will stop the pressure of 'if only I had done this as a child' to allow children to be children and experiment. But, I know that this will not happen, because when has it ever when it comes to issues like this (including normalising unsafe sexual practices).

MammothMashup · 01/12/2020 11:20

In fact, I'd bet that's going to be the kind of framing that becomes illegal.

MagicSummer · 01/12/2020 11:21

Could somebody please enlighten me as to who this person is?

Mermaids tweeted

BREAKING: High Court ruling deals a potentially devastating blow to trans under 16s seeking access to life-saving puberty blockers. We will respond in full and expect an appeal from GIDS. This is a betrayal of trans young people. The summary judgment in full:

Well, at least Mermaids understand even if the MSM are being pig headed about it.

The BBC are reporting it as a loss for the NHS

@RoyalCorgi

I wonder how many charities mentioned by mermaids will now be distancing themselves?

Same here. In fact, I think the reason Mermaids mentioned them was to take them down with them. Expect to see some very rapid reverse-ferreting and tweet-deleting and general gaslighting ("we never said children should have puberty blockers") from NSPCC et al.

We better get archiving, quick!

Here’s the HuffPost article that YouNoob posted above: archive.md/48W4g

It’s so bad as to be hilarious, seems to have been prewritten with only the top six lines and headline added today, which are a very superficial interpretation of the ruling, so superficial as to be misleading, I’d say.

Look forward to watching the story change throughout the day.

Life saving Hmm Will they wise up and fuck off with their bullshit.
littlbrowndog · 01/12/2020 11:21

Agreed wine. But can they be trusted. Will they have to change their working pratise

Thingybob · 01/12/2020 11:22

Mermaids have clicked that Keira has won. They have posted a copy of the judgement summary

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 01/12/2020 11:22

Bloody wonderful! News I've been waiting to hear.

Mermaids, GFY.

Cross post with it's fine
Trying to keep up!

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 01/12/2020 11:22

Life saving?

Erm, no.

Two fab tweets side by side:

picklemewalnuts · 01/12/2020 11:24

The judgement appears to say 16 and 17 year olds may be able to consent, but as its very complex should go to court for a decision.

So under 16s just can't!

Fan bloody tastic.

So relieved.

JoodyBlue · 01/12/2020 11:25

Keira thank you and well done.

Menstrualcycledisplayteam · 01/12/2020 11:25

I am really pleased about this result BUT i do worry about children who are already on this pathway or who have, up to now, been counselled on the affirmation model. Will this judgement make a difference there? Will all of the funding previously spent on helping children to irreversibly alter their bodies now be diverted to mental health services for them to help them recognise and manage their feelings? Of course not.

Obviously don't want to piss on anyones chips today, but until this whole idea of being "trans" goes, I'm not sure we are that much further forward. But Congratulations, Keira, of course!

CaveMum · 01/12/2020 11:25

Interesting that the BBC have filed it as “Cambridgeshire” news, rather than “Health”. A very deliberate ploy to keep it from trending I feel.

BettyDuKeiraBellisMyShero · 01/12/2020 11:25

archive.md/Itmqg archive for the Mermaids tweet.

Looks like the headline on BBC Cambridgeshire has already been changed?

EdgeOfACoin · 01/12/2020 11:25

It's easy to work out which side has won.

Whoever wants to appeal the decision has lost.

Whoever is awarded costs has won.

If the Tavistock seeks to appeal the decision, it definitely hasn't won.
