"People with vaginas"? So can we also say "people with penises"?

I can't imagine many teenage girls liking that label. Confused

yourhairiswinterfire · 03/11/2020 00:25

It's like they're all competing to see who can be the most crass. They'll be calling us wank socks or cum dumps next, to get proper down with the lads Hmm

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/11/2020 00:28

I agree, yourhair. Fuckers.

This retweet by Open Clinic NHS is a bit of a contrast. In some cases we must be very careful with the language we use in order not to offend people.

DO Use the same pronouns that the person refers to themselves as

So I should be referring to people as "I, me" etc? Could get a bit confusing.

thereplycamefromanchorage · 03/11/2020 07:20

Utterly depressing and dehumanising.

ThinEndOfTheWedge · 03/11/2020 07:26

Yay! Teen vogue

Great - the NHS is now in cahoots with a magazine actively trying to pornify girlhood.

PurpleHoodie · 03/11/2020 07:32

Teen Vogue is banned in this household.

Aesopfable · 03/11/2020 08:18

Why is the nhs advertising a commercial magazine? Especially a dubious one like that?

MingeofDeath · 03/11/2020 08:49

Teen Vogue? FFS

littlbrowndog · 03/11/2020 09:08

Piers on it

littlbrowndog · 03/11/2020 09:09

littlbrowndog · 03/11/2020 09:09

And yes why are they promoting a commercial magazine

ImaginaryCat · 03/11/2020 09:21

Fuck, another time I agree with Piers bloody Morgan... my brain is fried.

SunsetBeetch · 03/11/2020 11:06

That to me is the more worrying aspect. I mean, it's all shit.
Imnobody4 · 03/11/2020 11:14

This is a reminder to me to fill in the Hate Crimes consultation. If misogyny is recognised I'll be reporting this kind of crap to the police, then they'll be sorry and will have to sort it out.

CallieOp · 03/11/2020 11:17

Our local NHS had interviews with staff members for pride week.

One transgender woman who doesn’t present as female all the time “because it isn’t practical for work”. Blew my fucking mind, desperately wanted to know which parts of working in IT aren’t practical for females

Siameasy · 03/11/2020 11:28

Ugh - a lot wrong here
I’m not really sure why the NHS are posting about virginity-is it a health problem? The cartoon is crass. Why only female virginity?
Virgin is a word for someone who hasn’t had sex HOWEVER the fact that virginity means something (mainly for girls) is a sexist construct

Question for politicians, Why is the NHS is sending citizens to TeenVogue? TeenVogue’s readership = 95% adult men, and TeenVogue sexualises pubescent girls. And Why is the NHS using dehumanising language again. That's a well deserved ratio.

PearPickingPorky · 03/11/2020 14:57

When we start talking about subgroups of women do we still have to do the genital thing?

Muslims with vaginas?

Lesbians with vaginas?

Vagina'd ethnic minorities?
