Ugh the arguments on that thread are making me mad, though its the same shite as usual. Many people just popping up to let us know that 'not all women menstruate, are you saying those who do not menstruate are not women?!?!?!?!' as if its some wonderful gotcha. Its really not. Same shit, different day.

StanfordPines · 24/10/2020 15:29

Never see 'people who ejactulate' or such. Would love to see mens reaction to that written on durex packaging

Based on this I went to see what Durex have to say on Twitter, not much it seems, so I looked at Trojan which is a US brand.
Seems they are selling some kind of disposable wank sock for men. Tag line ‘for male pleasure’. Not penis owners or people who ejaculate mind you. twitter.com/trojancondoms/status/1313531505776492546?s=21

NRatched

I have the same problem, but just refreshing the page usually sorts it for me.

I'm not sure whether it is just links from here or from other sites, too - but it does happen often

The worst thing about this is that I’ve found myself agreeing with Laurence Fox

Waits for Durex to call their target market 'people who ejaculate'

Not all men ejaculate. Not all people who ejaculate are men. Let's celebrate people who ejaculate.

And International Men's Day can become International Ejaculators Day.

JoodyBlue · 24/10/2020 16:26

Monthly support for friends of the earth cancelled. There is power behind women's spending. This from Tampax is really contemptuous in my eyes. I hope there is a mass boycotting by women.

WhereYouLeftIt · 24/10/2020 16:52

@Imnobody4

Being serious though, do trans people really need to be spoken to in this patronising, babyish way all the time? They're grown adults, all this 'we see you and we weaally luffs you' guff is cringey. This is exactly what I'm thinking. What do transmen actually gain from this idiocy. Are they deluded enough to think that having a period can be normalised as a human rather than a female process. Doesn't it just draw attention to the fact that they are not biological males?

Why don't I see them clamouring for toilet facilities that allow privacy for washing a mooncup, or sanitary bins in every cubicle.
I suspect they recognise it as misogyny (if there's not a lucrative advertising contract involved)

I very much doubt Tampax are aiming this at transmen. I would imagine transmen find their periods traumatic enough, being as it reminds them that they're female and could well peak their dysphoria during. On that basis I'd imagine they avoid looking at adverts from sanitary manufacturers.

No, this is pure wokewashing. They want to appeal to all those young women who consider themselves transallies. Possibly, they do see it as a business strategy. All those young women currently being brainwashed and/or bullied into the cult are the ones who'll be using sanitary protection for far longer than us dried-up old biddies Grin, they can generate FAR more profits for Tampax and the like.

As for us other women, I imagine they regard us as a captive market, we need the products so they don't anticipate losing our business.

Except, of course for mooncups, ...

MichelleofzeResistance · 24/10/2020 18:18

Well Always doing this pushed me to reusable sanpro. Haven't looked back, much better for the environment and the difference when you're not putting horrible chemicals next to your skin is marked.

Haven't bought anything from M&S either since they decided that deriding female people was the In Thing and wouldn't affect their income.

Best of British with that chaps.

Agreed, actually today was the final push I needed to order another menstrual cup (other one is too big) and order some reusable pads. Its bad enough their products are bad for the environment & bad for women's bodies (tss anyone?) but this is a fucking step too far for me. Women and girls are oppressed on the very basis of their biology, we actually started to make progress in talking about period poverty, and now the very damn industry is erasing the language around our biological sex.

I sincerely hope that scores of women DO boycott their products.

WarOnWomen · 24/10/2020 18:38

"As a side note, is anyone else having issues with twitter links? When I click them from here, it says 'not available to you'. But if I open a new window and paste the link, it works? Almost seems like twitter is blocking any traffic from MN? I know that sounds ridiculous, and its more likely to be my computer or something, but its..weird.

I'm not blocked or anything as I'm not logged into twitter anyway, plus its with all twitter links, not just certain peoples who may have me on a blocklist. Abut all topics."

I'm having the same problem today. Also, my tweet to Tampax has disappeared. In fact, some of my GC tweets have been disappearing. Just a few here and there. Not sure how to complain to Twitter.

Also, I see the woke crowd has arrived. Lots more likes than comments now.

MichelleofzeResistance · 24/10/2020 18:48

Its bad enough their products are bad for the environment & bad for women's bodies (tss anyone?)

The female centric thing to do would seem to be spreading the word among women on the many benefits of reusable and ecologically friendly sanpro. I learned about such things on MN from other women in the first place.

Porridgeoat · 24/10/2020 19:02

Friends of the earth ....Not talking about --periods-women means it’s difficult to tackle these issues openly and honestly.

I'd never heard about reusable pads until I was looking at period pants in the hope to completely forgo use of sanitary towels. I shall definitely be shouting about them, and researching green(er) companies who support women and girls.
jdoejnr1 · 24/10/2020 19:14

@BingBongSong

Tampax is owned by Proctor and Gamble, who also own Gillette, Always and Pantene. I'm half expecting to see this agenda pushed in their next Pampers adverts too Hmm.

Proctor and Gamble brands

FACT: Men can have babies too. Buy our nappies!
Deliriumoftheendless · 24/10/2020 19:28

Those nappy sizes really discriminate against the adult baby market. NOT INCLUSIVE. DO BETTER.

mum2jakie · 24/10/2020 19:29

@GingerBeverage thanks for the information about the periodlady website.

My disappointment with Tampax and your post has finally given me the push needed to purchase some reusable pads.

The 20% off code is tpl-launch and free delivery kicks in at £20, accepting PayPal payments too.

Tampax - I've been a customer for nearly 30 years!!! What a counterproductive marketing campaign...You utter dicks... Hope the rise in male customers matches the number of women you have just alienated.

MrsHSW · 24/10/2020 19:37

Time to try a Mooncup (love mine!).

So glad I won't be giving money to these gaslighters.

TheWordWomanIsTaken · 24/10/2020 19:38

@midgebabe

For me women and transmen does not work.

Because it aligns with the idea that woman is an identity not a biological fact

I do not have an identity of women, it's just a sad fact of life. But I feel excluded by the trans community, partially because of their dismissivness of the impact of sex on people's lives, partly because I don't want to align to any gender identity, I just want to be me, accepted for who I am, with a respect and acknowledgment that my biology is not Male default.

I also don't actually think it's kind either, I think it's kinder to learn to accept your body as it is, than to try and convince yourself and others that they need to see you as a man in order to accept you are you are

Exactly this [clap][clap][clap]
1lov3comps · 24/10/2020 19:44

Is the way around this to adopt an 'offence is the best defence' stance? So any product that is for men e.g condoms, viagra etc., the producers should be petitioned to describe them as being 'for people who ejaculate', 'for people with erectile dysfunction'?

ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings · 24/10/2020 19:59

Whenever I see people saying "if only women menstruate then how comes those who have stopped menstruating are still women?" as if that's the killer argument of the century, I hear it in the exact same voice that evolution deniers say "if we all evolved from monkeys then how come there are still monkeys?" It's the same level of stupid to me, because it's a question that anyone who thinks for 5 minutes can answer. But like the evolution denier they don't think about it, because they don't like the answer.

Another vote here for washable pads BTW. They're brilliant, I used to get rashes from disposibles but I haven't had a single one from my cloth pads. I did used to donate tampax pearl to the food bank each week though since some women on MN said it was the best brand for their endometriosis, so will need to find a replacement for that.

Whatwouldscullydo · 24/10/2020 20:15

Also recommend earthwise girls.

Good range. Reasonably priced. Starter packs available and have always delivered really promptly.

Why? Why alienate a massive part of the population who support you're position already? Why do you want a race to the bottom? Twitter is full of men who think the advert is bullshit for example and are spreading the word.
CaraDuneRedux · 24/10/2020 21:04

It's a tongue-in-cheek suggestion Jdoe. Because the whole point is no one, at any point, is doing this to men. Men are not being told to re-brand themselves as ejaculators, prostate-havers, etc. in the name of inclusivity.

This shit only every affects women.

But the support of sane men on twitter is appreciated (not least because they can say things that would lead to an instant ban were a woman to say them).

Sewsosew · 24/10/2020 21:14

I don’t know why they think this will make them more money. This market they are chasing is tiny in compared to y’know ‘women’.
Fuck them and their products. Although I’m waiting for condom adverts that say ‘women spunk too’.

Then I apologise for the curt response. If there was ever a time to put the battle of the sexes on hold I would think it is now.
