Facemasks on for a trip to the Bluestocking

We haven't had a Bluestocking thread for fucking ages.

Anyone fancy a socially distanced, tables of no more than 6, Bluestocking?

The goat has been covid tested and the patriarchy busting canon polished up to remove all possible virus traces from its surface.

Remember, MN spans the globe, and it's always before the 10pm curfew somewhere.

Volunteering some of DP's Ardbeg if you like, he's on call this weekend so won't be indulging. (Hoping a bit of bribery and corruption let's me hang around in relative safety!)

CaraDuneRedux · 23/10/2020 21:46

I'll join you on the "Scots who don't like haggis" bench, Soph.

If you want further haggis aversion therapy, I have an anecdote about my DMum (fine Edinburgh woman that she was) and haggis, but it's PM material rather than thread material (sorry, that's a bit cryptic).

@SophocIestheFox

T’husband has brought a glass of Ardbeg Uighedail to bed, I can nick it off him and sling it in your direction if you like, woman?
Don't mind if I do Grin

I have some oatcakes here too, help yourself.

ChattyLion · 23/10/2020 21:48

Champagne Grin
Cheers everyone!

SophocIestheFox · 23/10/2020 21:50

Haggis aversion therapy Grin what, more than it being made of bawbags, squishy internal bits, stuff they swept up off the abbatoir floor and all wrapped in a whiffy sheep’s stomach? There’s MORE?

Ardbeg all round, Tofu!

Womantheonlykind · 23/10/2020 21:52

Slàinte Mhath

TofuDelights · 23/10/2020 21:52

Another Scot here! Exiled in England though. I actually used to love haggis, and black pudding. Tried a vegan black pudding recently and it was a bit meh until I ground a load of black pepper over it, yum.

I shouldn't have said that really, should I?! Retreats into the corner again...

CaraDuneRedux · 23/10/2020 21:54

Have sent you a PM, Soph.

Scotch egg made out of black pudding. Ought to be delish but naahhh. So mine's a Bollinger to wash down the taste

SophocIestheFox · 23/10/2020 21:57

I have empire biscuits, tablet and macaroni pies for you here, fellow Scots. Dig in!

ArabellaScott · 23/10/2020 21:58

I'll have a Taittinger if we're moving onto the posh drinks. And some black pudding canapes, with the accents removed because I can't find them they get stuck in my teeth.

ArabellaScott · 23/10/2020 21:59

empire biscuits, tablet and macaroni pies

All at the once? With brown sauce?

As landlady of this thread, I'd just like to say I am horrified by the generosity and sharing of food going on here. What happened to the great Edinburgh spirit of "You'll have had your tea..."

OP posts:
SophocIestheFox · 23/10/2020 22:00

Of COURSE with brown sauce, whaddya think I am, an animal?

TofuDelights · 23/10/2020 22:01

Macaroni pie! Yes please. (Not a vegan actually.) I can offer some of my Mum's homemade shortbread, the finest in the land. Go on, go on, go on!

ChampagneCommunist · 23/10/2020 22:41

Evening all. A large mojito & a bag of pork scratchings please

Do/Fuck/Off

ErrolTheDragon · 23/10/2020 23:13

I'm sorry, I haven't a clue.

littlbrowndog · 23/10/2020 23:52

With brown sauce 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Nothing else will do.

Whisky please. It’s been that sort of day

Black pepper was the only 'spice' my Granny used. She was from the Orkney Isles when it was not so easy to get fancy ingredients.

They had the water of life there though, so they did. Landlady! I'd like the Scapa tonight

ErrolTheDragon · 24/10/2020 00:04

🥃 it is.

I don't like it, myself. I haven't any spirits in the house but if I did it would be Gin

But now... bedtime decaf. Unashamed tea addict.

Ardbeg all round, Tofu!

DH and I (both Sassenachs) went through a phase of eating haggis in our 20s, starting out of curiosity. It’s pretty tasty though offally. We haven’t had it in years.
TofuDelights · 24/10/2020 09:35

Morning everyone, I've brewed up a pot of strong black coffee and a pot of tea for Errol, caffeinated as it's the morning. Hope there are no sore heads out there today, or sore stomachs from the slightly bizarre buffet.

PS brown sauce, really??!
