Facemasks on for a trip to the Bluestocking

We haven't had a Bluestocking thread for fucking ages.

Anyone fancy a socially distanced, tables of no more than 6, Bluestocking?

The goat has been covid tested and the patriarchy busting canon polished up to remove all possible virus traces from its surface.

Remember, MN spans the globe, and it's always before the 10pm curfew somewhere.

Breakfast pints was a big thing when workers arrived back from dry work sites.

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 21/04/2021 09:43

Breakfast pint is pretty much what i have for breakfast on holiday 😀

AnyOldPrion · 21/04/2021 09:47

@LostToucan

Mmmmm ... hotel breakfasts. I remember a particularly stunning breakfast in a Norwegian hotel which heavily featured salmon. But that was back in The Before Days.
I had smoked salmon and a soft-boiled egg!

Lovely view of a fjord and mountains from my bedroom window. Two more nights...

RabbitOfCaerbannog · 21/04/2021 09:50

I consider a pina colada a perfectly acceptable and nutritionally rich holiday breakfast. Don't @ me.

OwBist · 21/04/2021 09:50

I've been to many festivals, where breakfast cider was a thing.... In more recent years, with a side order of acid-reflux tablets.

Grin

Aging is an absolute bastard isn’t it.

littlbrowndog · 21/04/2021 10:14

That’s the thing isn’t it. Get to airport. Have a wee drink.

Abso-bloody-lutely
R0wantrees · 21/04/2021 10:25

I found a constant steady imbibing of mulled cider by the pint from breakfast to nightcap the best way to enjoy/survive a very cold, wet and muddy Glastonbury.

littlbrowndog · 21/04/2021 10:26

The olden days rufus

When we went to the airport 😂

ErrolTheDragon · 21/04/2021 10:40

I think I might once or twice (literally) have had a mimosa at a Sunday brunch in the US but that's the extent of my ability or desire to drink in the morning. GrinCaffeine otoh... two big mugs of tea, followed by a coffee with milk.

LostToucan · 21/04/2021 10:57

@AnyOldPrion

You lucky thing! Our hotel did an amazing sort of salmon tartare.

Mind you, no breakfast pints in Norway at £10 a pop.

Mmm ... although at 7am waiting for the Heathrow flight would be a wee bit early for a pint of Stella even for me Smile

Its 7pm somewhere

ErrolTheDragon · 21/04/2021 13:52

Its 7pm somewhere

Hence the Bluestocking always being open.Smile

StrangeLookingParasite · 21/04/2021 20:02

But that was back in The Before Days.

God, doesn't it feel like that - "The Before Times".

And yes, aging is not for wimps. I can't drink alcohol at all any more. Rude.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 21/04/2021 22:32

As long as the Bluestocking has a vaguely convivial air and some kind soul is willing to drop a cover over me if I find myself curled up and dozing then it's always the right time and place for something

I'm baking tomorrow. Various bits and pieces including a new (to me) Bara Brith recipe with some sourdough.

vicnorthbakes.wordpress.com/2014/05/15/national-loaf-bara-brith-sourdough-twist/

It's more austere than my usual recipe as well as being leavened with sourdough rather than baking powder so I'll see what I think of it. I'm hoping it's good with cheese.

ChattyLion · 21/04/2021 22:37

God that looks delicious

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 21/04/2021 22:45

Looks lovely embarrassing

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 21/04/2021 22:48

Im making this for dd who’s not been 100% for a while

Slightly concerned that its basically a heart attack in a cake

Kill or cure rufus.

(Well obviously not kill at that end of the spectrum - more like throw up?)

Helleofabore · 21/04/2021 22:51

That looks awesome Rufus!!!

I used to love meeting a friend for lunch and a few glasses of wine followed by a potter round the shops (we did end up with some interesting purchases) - now even a sniff of booze at lunchtime results in a compulsory mid afternoon nap 😴
PiglingBlandIII · 21/04/2021 22:53

Delicious looking cake Rufus - do you post?

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 21/04/2021 22:54

@LostToucan

Kill or cure rufus.

(Well obviously not kill at that end of the spectrum - more like throw up?)

Its basically a box of chocolate cake mix and a box of brownie mix

Mixed together with eggs and covered in cream and chocolate

Might be considered attempted murder 😀
