Facemasks on for a trip to the Bluestocking

CaraDuneRedux · 20/10/2020 20:33

We haven't had a Bluestocking thread for fucking ages.

Anyone fancy a socially distanced, tables of no more than 6, Bluestocking?

The goat has been covid tested and the patriarchy busting canon polished up to remove all possible virus traces from its surface.

Remember, MN spans the globe, and it's always before the 10pm curfew somewhere.

Good evening. I don't suppose i could have a LARGE Malbec and some salty snacks? Maybe a whiskey chaser... There are some threads I'd like to forget.

Beamur · 27/11/2020 18:31

Involving women?
I thought we did most of it anyway. Shouldn't it be involving men a bit more to balance out the vast bulk of the unpaid extra work Covid has landed women with? Maybe Boris could come up with a new slogan?
Don't just share Christmas, share Christmas! But not Covid.
Anyway, might join you with a glass of something Grin

NoCureForLove · 27/11/2020 18:59

'Might' Beamur? Gwan.

Is there a house band in the Bluestocking? I feel like dancing would channel my grumpiness more creatively tonight. Bit of grunge and I’ll start off the mosh pit?

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 28/11/2020 10:19

Is there a house band in the Bluestocking

I heard a rumour that datun plays the kazoo

SophocIestheFox · 28/11/2020 14:08

I heard that too, Rufus.

I don’t drink, but the board today is enough to make me take it up Hmm

Let’s talk about recipes or something. The husband is making scones and I’m going to eat one in a bit with cream and jam (not saying which goes on first, I’ve had enough of arguing for one day 🤣)

midgebabe · 28/11/2020 14:12

I am making stollen

And scones and a couple of loaves for the week

Dh is clearing up behind me.

The exciting bit is to come, imvolves melted butter and scattering/ smothering in icing sugar. That will be so yummily messy. ( I apologise for the childish word their, wanted to say a word begging with del I think but can't spell it, keeps getting replaced with selfish )

SophocIestheFox · 28/11/2020 14:18

Stollen, yum!

ErrolTheDragon · 28/11/2020 14:43

DH made a lot of wholemeal sourdough rolls yesterday. He's a retired chemist and grandson of a baker so sourdough during lockdown was an inevitability.Grin

It's slightly surprising he's not started brewing or distilling gin. Yet.

I've made a vat of roasted pepper, tomato and lentil soup, and then dry roasted some almonds. They are ridiculously moreish.... one of those things that's virtuous and healthy if you could just eat six but not if you eat six every time you're near their dish. It's a shame the Bluestocking bar is virtual so I can't slide the dish along it and share.Grin

SophocIestheFox · 28/11/2020 14:48

Lockdown sourdough cliche Grin

Those almonds sound lovely.

I still don’t have my scone, he’s a good baker but Christ alive the faffing!!

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 28/11/2020 15:10

It is

I love stollen and soup and sourdough 😩

Putting up the Christmas decorations...had to do a mercy dash for some lights!

WarOnWomen · 28/11/2020 15:18

Christmas tree up on Wednesday for us.

I made apple crumble yesterday using apples from neighbour's garden. Family appreciated it. (I didn't have any as gluten free).

GeorgiaMcGraw · 28/11/2020 15:32

tries to sit at a bar stool, slips off it twice, gives up ginger beer and salted peanuts please. That counts as a substantial meal, right?

midgebabe · 28/11/2020 15:47

And hot fruit scones coming up

HecatesCats · 28/11/2020 16:36

Afternoon. Jealous of the freshly made fruit scones! DP is making a stew with red wine and it smells delicious. Meanwhile, we've been putting up the tree and decorating shop bought gingerbread (would love to know a decent recipe!). Detangling the fairy lights has left me in the mood for a nice long g&t, if the bar is open?

ErrolTheDragon · 28/11/2020 16:54

The bar is always open because of operating across all time zones. This might mean that in the small hours GMT you could find we're on American rules so you might be asked for ID if you look under 35.

HecatesCats · 28/11/2020 16:57

I've found the ego boost of being asked for ID to be one of the more superficial benefits of facemasks. We always have a good laugh though when I (briefly) pull it down to reveal my true wizenedness.

DannyGlickWindowTapping · 28/11/2020 17:12

I have a swanee-whistle if there are auditions...

In the meantime, I need paracetamol and water as a result of the banging of my head against a brick wall. JFC, that thread is illuminating. And depressing.

littlbrowndog · 28/11/2020 17:17

I need gin and lots of it. And now

littlbrowndog · 28/11/2020 17:17

Please.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/11/2020 17:18

GinGinenough?

MaudTheInvincible · 28/11/2020 17:40

Christ almighty. Gin
