I think Piers Morgan is letting politicians know that if they want to come on Good Morning, and they do if they want to get their points across, they must be able to answer this question. He is baiting the Labour Party over this issue. Each time they back TWAW it is damaging their party especially where there are issues of safeguarding.

RR saying, ‘No one would transition and have genital surgery to win at sport’ was quickly stamped on by PM. Why do they repeat this rubbish time and time again.

Ghislainedefeligonde · 14/10/2020 18:56

Does anyone have a link for this? Sounds interesting. I agree Sharron Davies is immense on this, what a woman

Cailleach1 · 14/10/2020 19:02

I had never heard of Blair Hamilton before that segment. Didn't think anything other than it was a bloke. Then I read she says she has transitioned from male to female two years ago.

I don't know why I'm blown away by that, but it really feels like it isn't anything other than taking making a joke out of women now. I am genuinely offended by the fact some people seem to be just taking the piss. Blair is doing it with a straight face.

I hadn’t heard of Blair Hamilton either, so I did a search.

Text immediately before picture was a quote from Blair:

“People like Martina and Sharron need to look at the science – what hormone therapy actually does to your body.“

“It takes away your muscle mass, your explosiveness. I don’t think they realise how much of a change hormone therapy makes. My body right now is more female than male, which means I am not at an advantage on the pitch.”

This old BBC article with comments from scientists about advantages that persist even after hormone treatments, are worth reading. Pictures also presented without comment.

This footballer Blair Hamilton is perfectly entitled to their own opinions, but not to their own facts.

ilheartjennimurray · 15/10/2020 07:34

I have no idea how Blair can sleep at night - their move to play against women is clearly unfair to women. My god those photos, makes me want to cry, having played a single sex full contact sport all through my youth. Little did I know how lucky I was as the sport was 100% single sex back then.

I competed in a martial art when I was younger. You only need to look at Fallon Fox to see the danger.

I believe the woman FF injured wasn’t told of FFs status before the match.

This is male entitlement and blindness up the bloody wazoo. Most male individuals have absolutely zero idea of the extent of their superior strength. That's why they are so often bemused as to why women won't walk across deserted carparks, up dodgy roads at night, etc.

Plus, this individual swiftly changed their tune on TV yesterday. Once they realised that the science was irrefutable, they decided that men were stronger, obvs, but it's because they were taught better, with more commitment to enhancing their skills, due to sexism. And now women have equality, that won't be happening. Honestly, you couldn't make it up.

He also decided that the 800 transwomen used in the study weren't actually rugby players, so it didn't count.

It's obviously risible and ludicrous nonsense. But what is astonishing is having the absolute gall to say it it in the first place.

When they were talking about the different percentages relating to the different physical characteristics, I'm sure I heard that a man's punch is 160% more powerful than a woman's?
FairFriday · 15/10/2020 11:06

I’ve seen that stat too. You don’t need to be a genius to spot the muscle difference between the sexes.

OldCrone · 15/10/2020 12:24

"My body right now is more female than male, which means I am not at an advantage on the pitch.”

This statement by Blair has me wondering. In what way does Blair think that Blair's body is 'more female than male'?

What does Blair mean by female and male? Blair doesn't seem to be using the normal definitions for these words.

Does Blair think that female means 'weak and puny male'?

EvenSupposing · 15/10/2020 12:30

I noticed that stat about punching. It's so obviously true. My DH is tall but very slim. He's really not a big built guy at all - but if we do any kind of physical play with the kids he's just like a wall of muscle compared to me. Absolutely imovable.

I mean, we all know this don't we? This doesn't need any science other than what we all know to be true - Piers' 'common sense test'.

LouiseBelchersBunnyEars · 15/10/2020 13:25

@KenDodd

the only political parties that defend women's rights are the Communists and the tories Neither of those parties give a shit about women. They are anti trans NOT pro women. And it was the Tories who first tabled self ID.
And how lucky for us that it was the tories who tabled it. And then kicked it into the long grass. There has been a lot going on behind the scenes, for a long time. If the tories had not been in power, self ID would now be written in law.

I wonder if it's something like:

"Both men and women have arms, legs, a head, a torso, so that's even. Women have breasts, and I have breasts. Women don't have testes, my testes no longer work so they don't count. Women have oestrogen, and I now put oestrogen in my body. Ergo, I am more female than male".

Or it's just "women are less-good males. I am now a less-good male, ergo I am a woman".

Whatwouldscullydo · 15/10/2020 14:00

Doesn't that mean though they are still confessing to being male?
Being more female than make just means the balance is off not that they aren't

OwenJonesCleaner · 15/10/2020 14:11

International Olympic Committee happy to tell woman socialised female Caster Semenya that she can't play Olympic level sport, but can't stand up to men socialised male (won't, I bet). Same old misogyny.

Sittin · 15/10/2020 15:12

Owen - I haven’t read the thread but CS has gone through male puberty. CS is not a woman.

picklemewalnuts · 15/10/2020 15:41

I not think caster semenya was socialised female, either. There seems to have been a huge amount of spin on Caster's story.
