I see "Disgusted of Manchester" seems to have been replaced by a new TRA commentator, "poly s".

@gardenbird48

Self id is trending on twitter and some people are working hard to clarify the evidence against it.

Yeah, not really doing the 'we just want to pee' argument any favours is it?

Do you remember how much effort so many of us put into filling out those forms? It wasn't straightforward.

But I'm so glad we took the time to personalise them and write as individuals rather than the mass, any age, anywhere in the world, just 'click send for a pre-filled form' spamming approach that some organisations took.

Excellent. Completely support streamlining the process and making it cheaper, and it sounds like that's what's happening. But it is good that you need to have gender dysphoria in order to pursue it (and I personally think this isn't the best treatment for gender dysphoria, but that's none of my business when applied to adults)

Stonewall are continuing to lie about the law on twitter

twitter.com/stonewalluk/status/1307598543729852416?s=21

I wonder if now is the time to complain to the charity commission assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/866947/CC3_feb20.pdf

It is the duty of charity trustees to ensure the charity complies with charity law & all other laws that apply

Misrepresenting the law must be a breach of this

@FairfaxAikman

Presumably this is only England though?

England and Wales are subject to the same laws (with the exception of those reserved for the devolved government). The GRA2004 and EA2010 apply to both countries.

Dumb question (don't shout, please 😐) but does this mean the compelled pronouns thing is also off the table?

Stonewall are continuing to lie about the law on twitter

Why are they lobbying to remove exemptions if it's already not a problem? This screenshot was posted in their Twitter thread.

What are they playing at? So many people have proved them wrong, and they carry on regardless. Can they not see how ridiculous they look?

This is partly why so many people are aggrieved. They think that 'rights' they never actually had are being taken away because of this misinterpretation, and women have been turned into villains for stating the actual law.

Is self ID finally off the table?

Yes that’s exactly right! People who’ve not really looked at this behind think trans rights are being removed when they’re not, it’s about upholding the law as it stands and ensuring women’s rights continue to be safeguarded

I hope that this means that organisations, venues and companies that have felt obliged/scared not to follow the stonewall laws will not speak up.

I have notice more companies and businesses pushing ‘green agenda’ now whereas only recently it was all pride and BLM/rainbows in their windows.

Please, please can we keep digging for James Caspian. MN deleted my thread with no explanation. Sad
Sorry to derail but there is no point in starting another thread.
His research is so important and is being blocked.

This has been the game all along, to make it so well established that the law would merely change to reflect what practice had become. It cannot be allowed. Otherwise any political lobby group can make law and 'rights' mean anything that suits them regardless of MPs, the HoC, democracy and the wrongs and injustices to others, in the hope it'll be too hard work and too bad press for the govt to dare set it straight.

Misleading and misinforming not only organisations but vulnerable people to aid a political purpose is beginning to look as if it may have to be considered as an intentional strategy by a group the govt themselves helped fund. The govt are going to have to find the guts to unpack this properly, or the path is laid for any lobby group on any subject to follow their example.

The Labour Party would be mad to support self-ID.

A number of their MPs do indeed seem to be mad.

@DryHeave

Does the current charge actually cover the cost of all the admin? £140 seems on the cheap side when you consider how much visas cost or basically any legal work!

Its no more expensive than ither similar legal things.

Also I am sure it was a case of..its if the person can afford it. If low income, the fee is waived (again, like many other things)

However, I guess something had to be conceded, but this will no way be enough for TRAs, not at all. I have no issue with lowering the cost.

Amazing! I take my hat off to all the many many women who slogged so hard with few resources to achieve this. I also would like to say thank you to Mumsnet Towers for not buckling to the enormous pressure to shut this board down. It must have come at a financial cost, and for that I am deeply appreciative.

I'll be listening very carefully to what Liz Truss says. I am hoping for a strongly worded push back against stonewall law, telling all organisations (government and private) that if they don't adhere to the EA they are open to having their ass sued off.

For Labour, KS is in such a tricky position. Stick with the wokies, he'll never regain the red wall seats he needs to win. Go with common sense, the fire storm from the ex-corbynistas will be horrendous. So maybe he will use it as opportunity pre EHRC report coming out to clear shop? If his response is along the lines of "shame the government didn't address conversion therapy" and body swerved the actual self ID issue, then that is the best he can do. Unless he goes full TWAW and if so I'll never vote for him.

I'm really worried he's going to do this, given the views of some of the Labour front bench - Nandy, Streeting, Rayner etc

Pledged @endofthelinefinally :)

KS will be desperate to avoid this if possible. He’ll be under pressure from his front bench to Wade in & I hope he’s able to resist

Labour know that their only hope of a majority at the next election is to re appeal to older more conservative types and particularly followers of faiths that have clear views of sexual difference even if those faiths are misogynist

Identity politics has been incredibly destructive for the left and needs to go.

Trump has said he'll nominate a woman to replace RBG
if it delays till Biden is in post then the Democrats might just pick a transwoman
which would be insane
