I've been a lurker for a long time - this is my second post ever. But I've just been so shocked by an article in the Radio Times with the title:

In light of the JK Rowling controversy, is it still OK to enjoy Strike: Lethal White?

Rowling’s ill-informed diatribe

My favourite edit was the removing of "ill-informed" from this Grin

Do editors not bother checking for libel anymore?

The archive link isn't working for me. Anyone else?

On national newspapers they do - this piece would never have got past an editor at the Guardian, say, or the Sun. Or even the Radio Times print magazine. But I imagine the journalists who work on the Radio Times website are fairly junior staff in their 20s with little journalism training or experience. Probably there are no sub-editors, and therefore no one who understands the basics of libel law.

The writer has locked account, I believe they were receiving some negative tweets.

Radio Times, exchanging outrage for clicks, and outsourcing the consequences.

@Greencoatblue

Has this TRA actually read what JK wrote? I think not, like most of the other loud mouths! Yep let’s all pander to a tiny minority. Hadn’t got around to buying the Strike books, will procrastinate no longer, Amazon here I come.
Well no, the author hasn't read JK's essay, because its not called 'Terf Wars' ffs Angry

Curiously, the Radio Times is one of 4 periodicals I subscribe to.

Oh dear.

Molly Martian is a me-railer. JKR stood up in defence of women but some people just can't handle not being everyone's top priority. Nasty article that should never have been published.

Subscription to Radio Times cancelled, and having got it faithfully every week for more than a decade, I won’t be buying it again.
