calling once more for a more nuanced debate around gender identity and women's rights. It's here https://www.jkrowling.com/opinions/statement-from-j-k-rowling-regarding-the-robert-f-kennedy-human-rights-ripple-of-hope-award/.

Thanks JKR

Glad you enjoyed my convo with Maya.

I loved it. Thank you.

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 01/09/2020 19:18

I'd be surprised if it was Kristopher. The punctuation was very poor indeed. I didn't see Maya's thread before he got all cowardly and hid himself, is he usually only semi-literate?

I may have accidentally summoned the ghouls by mentioning the councillor. Or is it someone else who always turns up, I can't remember? I often get them mixed up with Edward Lord and that bloke from the Green Party.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/09/2020 19:41

I think there are a number of people that turn up when they get a mention.

DialSquare · 01/09/2020 20:14

I've just tuned in and noticed a theme on a few threads. I've had a strike today so currently sitting on my hands.

SunsetBeetch · 02/09/2020 11:22

This person writes for The Daily Dot.

Sorry, she's actually the editor of The Daily Dot. Account now locked due to the backlash she's received. Note the use of language again: JKR is a 'violent' transphobe, therefore actual violence against her can be justified.

As I think Konstatine from Triggernometry said "Words are violence, silence is violence, violence is not violence".

This person writes for The Daily Dot.

They locked their account-I hope police action is taken, because they're actually asking for people to attack JKR. But these types seem above the law.

Yet of course, we know if she'd said she loves JKR or some variation, she'd likely have been sacked immediately Hmm

boatyardblues · 02/09/2020 11:38

Sensitivity reader, huh? Hmm Clearly blind to their own raging misogyny.

SunsetBeetch · 02/09/2020 11:46

Only sensitive people want to break someone's nose, obviously.
SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 02/09/2020 11:49

Also, why does she "need cis Brits to step up"? Why can't trans people punch people on their own behalf if that's what is apparently an appropriate reaction?

AbsintheFriends · 02/09/2020 11:50

Sensitivity reader = woke police community officer

SunsetBeetch · 02/09/2020 11:56

And here's someone else.who writes for The Daily Dot. Not JKR related, but still vile.

Well what a fine bunch they employ.

SophocIestheFox · 02/09/2020 12:30

They seem lovely. Nothing worthy of a sacking there in those detailed, violent fantasies about harming women.

Fucking hell, what a time to be alive. Imagine working alongside these people.

HyperboleKnickers · 02/09/2020 12:33

So much hatred. I wonder what has happened that person to end up that way?

Maerchentante · 02/09/2020 14:03

I just looked this person up on Twitter, did not find that tweet (didn't look to hard) but they went on to gaslight women who were upset by it. What a joy they are. Hmm
ItalianHat · 02/09/2020 17:57

And compare that awful Daily Dot editor (I reported her tweet - I hope thousands of others did as well) who keeps her job after posting an incitement to violence, with the case of Sasha White, who was sacked because she tweeted in support of the sex-based rights of women on her private Twitter account.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 02/09/2020 18:03

It reminds me of an anti-Nazi league gig I went to back in the day.

They handed round these leaflets which said things like 'Nazis are subhuman and should be rounded up and shot', stuff like that.

The lack of awareness and cognitive dissonance of people who think that being on the Right Side excuses any abusive speech or behaviour is eye-watering.

(Perilously close to Godwin's law, I know, but they were ANTI-Nazi).

Cailleach1 · 02/09/2020 18:20

I think that comparative country analysis is wrong on Ireland wrt self ID. I could be wrong, but I think you need the consent of your spouse if married.

itsor · 02/09/2020 19:00

I'd say the level of violent threat included in that first person's tweet would definitely warrant getting in touch with her employer, but if she's the editor I suppose nothing will be done.

Supporting JKR = instant firing
Calling for violence against JKR and fantasising about her being attacked = woke

merrymouse · 02/09/2020 19:04

Seems odd that the social media editor of an online news site who has been on twitter since 2012 has so few followers.

There seems to be a mismatch between their job title and social media presence.

SoManyActivities · 02/09/2020 19:14

What. The. Actual. Fuck?

And to think, the tweets that women have lost their jobs and had visits from the police for? What people have been banned from Twitter for?

Christ, misogyny is alive and fucking well isn't it?

Antibles · 02/09/2020 19:22

That horrific tweet Shock

This is what women are up against. People who think like that, fantasise about violence like that. No wonder we've been oppressed for millennia.

It's not how your average female writes, is it?

AMCoffeePMWine · 16/03/2021 00:31

@MoaMy

I looked at their latest tax report (from 2017) rfkhumanrights.org/assets/images/2017-990-reduced.pdf

I'm not sure I'm reading it right, but it seems like they're only giving $460k in grants a year, while paying staff $3.6 million (page 1) ($320k of that to Kerry, page 9). And they spent $500k on conferences, meetings and conventions (page 11). But maybe this is just how these high level non-profits run normally?

I’m very late to this, and trying to catch up with all the information. Great thread. When I looked at this report from RFK, I was gutted to see Martin Sheen on it. I thought he was sensible enough to see this issue from a women’s point of view. Another day, another disappointment.
