calling once more for a more nuanced debate around gender identity and women's rights. It's here https://www.jkrowling.com/opinions/statement-from-j-k-rowling-regarding-the-robert-f-kennedy-human-rights-ripple-of-hope-award/.

Thanks JKR

I love JK Rowling, she’s is truly brave Smile

This is the profile of Scott Minerd who won an award in 2015. Unless I have missed something they haven't bothered to explain why he won the award. Confused

"Scott Minerd is a founding and managing partner at Guggenheim Partners. In his role as Global Chief Investment Officer, Minerd guides the firm’s investment strategies and oversees client accounts across a broad range of fixed-income and equity securities.

Previously, Minerd was a managing director with Credit Suisse First Boston in charge of trading and risk management for the Fixed Income Credit Trading Group. In this position, he was responsible for the corporate bond, preferred stock, money markets, U.S. government agency and sovereign debt, derivatives securities, structured debt and interest rate swaps trading business units.

Prior to that, Minerd was Morgan Stanley’s London based European Capital Markets Products Trading and Risk Manager responsible for Eurobonds, Euro-MTNs, domestic European Bonds, FRNs, derivative securities and money market products in 12 European currencies and Asian markets. He has also held capital markets positions with Merrill Lynch and Continental Bank. Prior to that, he was a Certified Public Accountant and worked for the public accounting firm of Price Waterhouse.

Minerd is a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s Investor Advisory Committee on Financial Markets, helping advise the NY Fed President and senior management at the bank about the current financial markets and ways the public and private sectors can better understand and mitigate systematic risks. Minerd also works with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), advising on research and analysis of private sector infrastructure investment, and is a contributing member of the World Economic Forum (WEF). He is a regularly featured guest and contributor to leading financial media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, Bloomberg, and CNBC where he shares insights on today’s financial climate.

Minerd holds a B.S. degree in Economics from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and has completed graduate work at the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business and the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania."

That Glinner award is so fab

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 30/08/2020 19:18

This is an issue that is 'difficult to win public support for' and best hidden behind the 'veil of protection' provided by a popular issue such as gay rights. Again, anyone who has even glanced at the UK transgender debate will recognise this description.

Another recommendation is even more revealing: 'Avoid excessive press coverage and exposure.'"

Fuck me. How completely disgusting. AngryAngryAngry It's obviously a movement which has no compunction about appropriation or piggy-backing on genuine good causes.

It's heartening to see how many people have had their eyes opened by this ridiculous debacle of RFKHR's, and even more by the sunlight JKR has brought. The case against the Tavistock Clinic and Ann Sinnott's judicial review will hopefully bring more widespread coverage in the press.

I looked at their latest tax report (from 2017)
rfkhumanrights.org/assets/images/2017-990-reduced.pdf

I'm not sure I'm reading it right, but it seems like they're only giving $460k in grants a year, while paying staff $3.6 million (page 1) ($320k of that to Kerry, page 9). And they spent $500k on conferences, meetings and conventions (page 11). But maybe this is just how these high level non-profits run normally?

What the hell?! If that is how these things normally run they can get the fuck off their moral high horse.
MoaMy · 31/08/2020 08:07

Well, to be fair, looking more deeply into it, they also have a large chunk of "other" expenses ($2.9 million, page 1, still less than the staff salaries though...) and $366k on fundraising (page 1, less than the conferences.) All that $366k has gone to "Taylormade Experience LLC" listed as an Event Consultant (page 8)

I wonder if the conferences expenses are related to this program service accomplishment: "Gatherings that allow for direct engagement with peers, top managers, police makers and thought leaders." (page 49)

One of the largest single expenses is $800k (page 2) for the "Speak Truth to Power" program (not gonna comment on that lol) description of which is in the screenshot.

By the way, Kristopher Sharp's twitter was public again for a brief while and some of his tweets were cached. Posting one reply from him to Maya Forstater. It's hard to believe this is someone working for an entity that bills itself as a distinguished human rights charity. archive.is/1HaOK

So the centre piece of that $800K project is a book by um.... Kerry Kennedy?
Is that correct? Because if it is, I really don't know what to say.

highame · 31/08/2020 08:29

The irony is breathtaking Grin All these hard left groups espousing radical fairness and equality. JKR supports genuine charities but is TERF so must be damned The Kennedy charity is just a trough for the rich but it must be supported because it's a TWAW org.

SophocIestheFox · 31/08/2020 10:18

The “Speak Truth To Power” programme is aimed at “inspiring stories of women and men”. They’ve oopsied there, they’ve forgotten the non binary people 😱😱😱 they also haven’t explained how they will uplift marginalised voices of people of colour, as all three of the main contributors are white (and it’s cracking me up that it’s a showcase for Kennedy’s own fucking book 😂) and the two that aren’t Kennedy are white men. Expect immediate cancellation and the whole organisation to be launched into the bin. Cancelling things is FUN, kids!

That tweet of Kristofers is horrid. Note, it’s not the opinions that are garbage, it’s Maya herself who is garbage. An interesting glimpse into his mindset there...

Datun · 31/08/2020 10:22

Where do these organisations get these inarticulate, rage filled people?

Garbage? It would be funny if it wasn't so depressing.

And Maya is a bigot who deserved to lose her job because she is an absolutist who goes around "misgendering" people like that Scottish councillor, what's their name, who called women cunts. I know she didn't lose her job because of that particular incident, but the fact that the judge thought it worth mentioning as proof of Maya's "absolutist views" is just mind-blowing Shock
yourhairiswinterfire · 31/08/2020 12:02

Maya said in a Twitter thread that Khristopher apologized to her privately for the slurs, before locking his account.

Wonder why he didn't apologize publicly 🤔

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 31/08/2020 22:31

Well it doesn't seem to have done her book sales any harm. The HP books make up 9 of the top 10 children's books over various formats on Amazon UK's best sellers Grin

as bad as racist white people in America Is he black or brown? Because I think white people should stop fucking saying this. Just stop.

yourhairiswinterfire · 01/09/2020 18:34

yourhairiswinterfire · 01/09/2020 18:36

Nice to see transmen ignored in this 'inclusivity', yet again 🙄

SoManyActivities · 01/09/2020 18:40

Glad you enjoyed my convo with Maya.

Oh I enjoyed it very much. It was even better when you deleted all of your posts (why did you do that by the way?) and all we were left with was calm measured posts from her explaining why you were coming across like a huge, throbbing ball of misogyny Smile

SophocIestheFox · 01/09/2020 18:40

Welcome to mumsnet, Kristofer!

SoManyActivities · 01/09/2020 18:41

I hope MN don't ban Kristopher - I would love to have a proper conversation with him about this whole issue, ask him some questions, allow him to ask us some, voicing concerns and backing them up, a bit of back and forth discussion.

I'm really not holding my breath though! 😂

SophocIestheFox · 01/09/2020 18:43

Oh man, that was a quick deletion!

If you missed it, Kristofer (if indeed it was he) thanked us politely for our interest in the foundation and in him, asked a few pertinent questions, clarified some of the nuance of his thinking and then told us we had great hair.

I’ve simply no idea why it was deleted.
