If the GRA goes through is anyone planning on changing their gender?

I mean, if I legally change my gender I don't have to do anything else do I? Still dress and call myself whatever I want? I hope an 18% pay rise will be coming my way though.

I was thinking of becoming a Flat Pack, their are hundreds of genders, so if you say I can't become a Flat Pack you are flatpackphobic

dementedma · 27/08/2020 14:27

That's actually a good point on the payrise in jobs were men are paid more. I'd love to see a woman do this and ask for the male pay rate.

TheFleegleHasLanded · 27/08/2020 14:38

Yes I will and my husband is very much looking forward to coming out as gay.

Muttonindistress · 27/08/2020 14:54

There was a thread on this a while back and I think quite a few of us are up for it. I haven’t asked my husband how he feels about being in a same sex marriage though.

Cwenthryth · 27/08/2020 15:01

Maybe I’m being dense here as very tired, but as a gender critical feminist, I don’t ‘believe’ in gender as in it is not a concept that is relevant to me personally (clearly, other people do believe in gender!), I don’t have a gender - so no, I quite literally cannot change my gender as I don’t have one. Any more than an atheist can change which god they believe in, they don’t believe in any.

Thingybob · 27/08/2020 15:08

I think that makes you Agender Cwenthryh. There is no escaping the umbrella, we are all rainbow coloured whether we like it or not.

Lamahaha · 27/08/2020 15:51

I would have a very hard time determining my new gender. I simply cannot figure out where I belong on the spectrum. So I think I'll pass.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 27/08/2020 15:52

I am considering it... I shall be using the Pip Bunce methodology, pick and choose when it would be to my benefit!

Lamahaha · 27/08/2020 15:57

...but for anyone considering a change, it's simply important to know exactly who you are. The choice posted above is just a tiny selection. Here's a handy guide to them all: www.myumbrella.org.uk/guide-to-lgbt/gender-identities

gardenbird48 · 27/08/2020 16:03

Lamaha - I think this organisation are the partners of Thames Valley Police. Obviously an amazing place to live as the police have solved all the crime and are now contemplating the flags of the 371genders.
I’d advise not looking at their Political (??) and Fetish section Shock
Question, the BBC think there are only 100 genders - who has authority for identifying, defining and making a flag for the genders? How do they account for the disparity in numbers - do the 271 genders that the BBC feel left out?

Why are intersex and hermaphrodite listed as genders? Confused

Have they not been asked a million times not to use them in this way?

NiceGerbil · 27/08/2020 16:11

Hermaphrodite????

Wow.

yourhairiswinterfire · 27/08/2020 16:11

And is it just me, or do most of those genders basically mean the same thing? Confused

littlbrowndog · 27/08/2020 16:14

Who knows what all the genders.

Going to ask th3 toddler.

Might get more sense

BaronessWrongCrowd · 27/08/2020 16:27

Nah. I'm flying the flag for the gender free. They're not forcing me into one of the TRA silly little tick boxes Grin

Smallsteps88 · 27/08/2020 16:32

Tempting.

I’m trying to imagine RL scenarios in my own life where it would benefit me to be legally recognised as a man. Any suggestions? I earn minimum wage- as do the men in my role- so no benefit there.

SerenityNowwwww · 27/08/2020 16:34

I don’t think I actually have one. I was always the awkward kid who never wanted to do what everyone else was doing - so I’m pretty contrary for the hell of it. Is that an option? Obviously my sexy is female.

SerenityNowwwww · 27/08/2020 16:35

Why does my autocorrect not like the word sex and always change it to sexy?

Quillink · 27/08/2020 17:16

LGB and fetish have no more in common than heterosexuality and fetish. Anyway, I thought that being a 'vagina fetishist' AKA homosexual female, was the most trans exclusionary thing EVER. Or is it now OK?

Cwenthryth · 27/08/2020 17:40

Nope..... in my philosophy, agender would be analogous to agnostic - whereas I would be gender atheist. It’s not for me.
BrassicaRabbit · 27/08/2020 19:49

The thing is, this seems to be being pushed to the extent that gender atheism is not recognised and they'd like it to be illegal. I don't want to play this game either, but if a woman does nothing, it is assumed she is a "cis woman" which is extremely offensive as well as plain inaccurate.

SmallPug · 27/08/2020 19:50

If they bring in self ID, what is to stop us all legally becoming men?

MsMarvellous · 27/08/2020 19:55

Does anyone else look at all this and just think "we'll fuck me, this generation rally have nothing better to do". Can you really imagine the generation that fought either world war had the time to fuck about with "fractal gender" and other such bullshit. These people need something to occupy themselves with.

BrassicaRabbit · 27/08/2020 19:57

If we self identified as men, would we be able to get future incidents of sexual harassment, assault, cat calling, abuse etc categorised as hate crimes?

highame · 27/08/2020 19:58

Would do that but not fond of their kex
