Ffs I am so sick of this agenda-heavy lobby group and their war against women's rights!

(Note that they are controlling who can reply to them too.)

“We are asking rugby clubs at all levels of the game to stand with us against a ruling that is exclusionary and that will impact some of the most vulnerable people in the community”.

I am interested to see where they go from here. They seem to have sunk the whole ideology into this - if rugby goes, the whole deck of cards has gone - surely they must have a backout strategy??

Or will they give up and go home?

MillyMollyFarmer · 28/08/2020 18:03

If world rugby were to back away from these proposals after proving there’s increased risk, it would cost them. Big time. So this is happening. And yes, it paves the way for other contact sports.

SerenityNowwwww · 28/08/2020 18:44

They won’t be able to get insurance - the clubs and individuals won’t get healthcare cover surely as it will be classified as a dangerous sport surely? And if a woman player is really hurt it heaven forbid killed the club and regulating bodies will be their arses sued off...

Apollo440 · 28/08/2020 18:46

And non contact sports too. The same evidence can be used to show transwomen have advantage over women (quelle surprise). Let's get them out of cycling, running, weightlifting, athletics, everywhere they have a advantage. The TRAs know if this domino falls the rest will follow. If they resist, we replace them on the governing bodies.
Let them play against men or lobby for a new category. It may take years but had enough of this shit.

www.smh.com.au/sport/rugby-union/playing-experience-a-missing-piece-in-transgender-players-debate-20200819-p55nac.html

Another opinion piece that totally has the wrong information. This person who is very pleased to have attained accollades playing womens rugby states a totally different study to the review of the 11 studies. And again puts their transition experience as an emotive reason to push for inclusion.

Sexnotgender · 29/08/2020 10:31

Further news piece on ‘Caroline’ from a few years back.

They played rugby to a reasonable level in the men’s team before moving to women’s.

Deltoids1 · 29/08/2020 10:45

So Caroline played under the radar in women’s rugby, won a load of accolades, then was outed as trans and suddenly the accolades dried up? Funny that.

SerenityNowwwww · 29/08/2020 11:45

‘Under the radar’? Teammates, coaches and opposing teams didn’t know? I find that...

Sexnotgender · 29/08/2020 12:02

I can totally see why they managed to fly under the radar.

Girls can choose to wear shorts now? Good. QHow l hated those big knickers they made us wear when I was at school.

Winesalot · 29/08/2020 13:04

So of course this person is highly invested in making sure the Australian Rugby board rule to allow transwomen to play. It would mean this person’s narcissism has been shown in believing they were at NO advantage what so ever and fully deserved the awards they received as a woman.

Let’s not forget they had received considerable training as a male in rugby (league as well as union??). Considering the lack of investment in women’s rugby and the fact it was not something offered for girls in school ... no advantage just in the experience and years of coaching either.

Absolutely the same argument to one of the other regular commentators from Australia who is nearly 50 yr old transwomen still able to play and keep up with the much younger women on the team. No advantage huh?
There is so much blatant denial going on.

DianasLasso · 29/08/2020 13:21

Yes, cos a person with that physique would totally be suited to sprint athletics events (I presume that's either a 4X100 or 4X400 relay team) if competing as their birth sex.. not.

Mollscroll · 29/08/2020 17:01

Woman to the right of Caroline says it all.

SimonJT · 29/08/2020 18:50

@Sexnotgender

Maybe *@simonJT* could share some insight.
I’m condused about what you would like me to share?

(Confused is my usual state)

Sexnotgender · 29/08/2020 19:10

Sorry @SimonJT that was a bit vague.

We were curious as to the make up of gay rugby clubs (someone else mentioned your name so assuming this is relevant to you? Apologies if not).

Are they exclusively gay? Do they generally agree with IGR stance on transwomen in rugby?

The team I play for is often called a gay club, its an inclusive club and anyone is welcome, including people who either haven’t played rugby before or haven’t played since school as we have pathway to rugby. We have teams from social to level 8. We were also union cup champions in 2019. We had high hopes for the Bingham Cup this August, but that obviously couldn’t go ahead.

I don’t really know the composition of other inclusive teams in the UK without googling etc. They’re the enemy afterall 😂

Our club supports IGR, as does our unofficial sister club the Vixens.

MillyMollyFarmer · 29/08/2020 20:12

Our club supports IGR, as does our unofficial sister club the Vixens.

Does that mean support their stance on trans women in women’s rugby?

TheFleegleHasLanded · 30/08/2020 10:09

There is another article about this in The Sunday Times, sorry, I don’t have a share token.

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/safety-has-to-come-first-in-trans-debate-sm7pb2ff7

MillyMollyFarmer · 30/08/2020 10:34

It’s a good article and timely but he seems a little too disappointed that this has to be done. Strange. He’s not usually shy to be totally honest. He’s outright racist about NZers but has to dance around trans people. Hmmm

BaronessWrongCrowd · 30/08/2020 10:46

"The author JK Rowling expressed strong views on the trans-debate and found that those who supported her and those who did not were conducting a violently abusive war on social media."

Uh no. It comes from one side.

Igneococcus · 30/08/2020 10:46

Who is Stephen Jones? I googled but can only find a 42 year old Welsh player but if there is no way the guy in the picture is 42.

Igneococcus · 30/08/2020 10:48

He also thinks we can choose our sex Hmm

DianasLasso · 30/08/2020 10:51

igneo if you click on his name above the article, it brings up his bio - he's the Sunday Times' rugby correspondent.

"Stephen Jones is rugby correspondent of The Sunday Times and has covered every World Cup since the inaugural tournament staged in 1987, has reported on more Lions tours (nine) than any other journalist and also on over 300 international matches. He has won the UK sports journalist of the year award, has twice been UK sports correspondent of the year and three times rugby writer of the year. His book Endless Winter was voted sports book of the year. He has also covered golf, racing, football and cricket for The Sunday Times and now hosts The Times and The Sunday Times' weekly rugby podcast The Ruck."

Kit19 · 30/08/2020 10:51

Stephen Jones is one of the most well known rugby journalists and has been writing on it for years.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Jones_(journalist)

im surprised to see him be so handwringing and poor Kelly about it but at least he's unequivacal that it must not be allowed to happen and critical of Stonewall
