"Surrogate lost" - did she die?

I struggle to post about Lance Bass due to the overt misogyny causing me nausea but here it is .

He and his husband 'lost' a surrogate and now he's sad as finding one during times of a global pandemic are really hard. I don't think she died, but 'lost'? She wasn't yours to lose.

I think the poor woman was likely quite broken wants to now run far and fast away from these awful people. I hope she has a good therapist.

I don't know who he is but there is so much wrong with that, where to start.

I've been vaguely tracking them (when I can stomach it).

Their have been 9 attempts so far with the latest resulting with a miscarriage at 8 weeks (reported Mar this year). Not sure if that was all one woman, I think it's their second surrogate mother so this would be their third. I'm unclear as to how many woman have been involved for egg retrieval. When they say it takes a village...

Yes, it's wrong in a number of ways, and you don't actually have to have had a CS to see why...

TBF I think I've seen it used that way in non surrogacy context too but it does somewhat diminish a serious surgical procedure.

That's an almost medieval tally of 13 women exploited so a man can have a child of his own.

As someone who had to deal with infertility, with more infertility struggles in the family, I am only too familiar with the heartbreak and the stress and the hopes and crushing disappointments. It sickens me to read of their "IVF struggles" as if infertility was the issue here. And the entitlement to a child expressed in those interviews is not one we felt.

He's never been pregnant, nor has his partner. This is why it's so important to keep language clear and accurate. Only women can be pregnant.

I watched that film 'Eggsploitation' on YouTube - I had no idea egg donation was so risky. Let's just say its a world away from wanking into a cup.
