LOL dolls

Has anyone seen the videos going around with LOL dolls, I've just watched one and can't believe it.

If you put them in cold water, lingerie appears. One doll even had a devil tail tattoo on her lower back.

Why would they include this on little girl toys

They’re really tacky aren’t they? My 4 year old wanted one desperately and I held out mainly on environmental grounds but Granny bought him one. He was delighted with it for about a week and then forgot all about it. The one he had was just a baby doll I think - it had a bottle.

Before and after shots.

This is a re-run of the Trolls fiasco, isn't it? Hiding in plain sight again.

Because that's not even any old underwear, that's borderline BDSM, kinky stuff (which is fine in adults if that's your bag, but marketed at young children? Fuck no!)

Motherofmonsters · 14/08/2020 10:29

I just don't see why they've added it, who is it for? Certainly not 6year olds

I think they're so tacky, and plastic polluting tat, and now this. Hmmm, nope still no sale. Just why though?

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 14/08/2020 10:33

I hate them. They look like a cross between a sex doll and a toddler.

DD was given a little one as a present for her 4th birthday by another girl in her class. She was delighted with it Hmm for all of five minutes, then DH & I hid it in a fairly inaccessible toy box until we were sure it was forgotten about and then chucked it out. Anytime she's asked for anything lol related (if she's seen them in a shop, for eg) I've just said no, mummy and daddy don't like them.

I can't honestly see why any parent would think they are appropriate for children.

DianasLasso · 14/08/2020 10:38

Someone said on the Trolls thread "your initial reaction to these reports is 'aw, surely this is just someone pearl clutch?' then you look at the actual pictures/videos and do a 180 and go 'WTAF!'"

You have to seriously wonder about the designers of these things, and the people in marketing colluding with the designers.

It's the degree of collusion going on that's scary. To have one employee in a company in the design department who thinks this is an okay thing to put out to small kids - unsavoury, but such men get everywhere. To have him design it, then have marketing, branding, etc. etc. sign off on it too... this is institutional, not just one or two rogue individuals.

It's notorious that certain professions have attracted a certain type of adult that wants contact with kids for unsavoury purposes, and that once in those professions, groups of such adults begin to band together, and the institutions themselves then collude as part of a cover-up (BBC children's entertainment in the 70s and 80s, Savile and the cover-up there, the Catholic church, sports coaches in football and gymnastics...).

Looks like we have to add toy manufacturers to that list.

I thought Bratz dolls were bad enough years ago but these dolls are a new level of vile. Sexualised features on the body of toddler doll? And now fetish underwear. Jesus wept.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 14/08/2020 10:41

Aye, that's creepy as fuck.

I can confirm that kids seem to grow out of the LOL doll phase VERY quickly. Thankfully. I think my DD's lasted about two weeks. Now they're totally BABYISH.

SerenityNowwwww · 14/08/2020 10:43

Kids do seem to like hideous dolls. Are Bratz still a thing?

Janaih · 14/08/2020 10:45

I dont think Bratz are around anymore thankfully.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 14/08/2020 11:00

Last year (way before the current scandal) DH had a complete WTF reaction to the outfit that an LOL that DD received for her 6th birthday.... Black pants with a zip. Maybe they were supposed to be shorts... But they looked like pants. It was 'lost' in our house move.

Our 'diplomatic' reason for no LOL dolls when DDs asked for them was we didn't agree with the environmental impact of all the packaging.

Shock

I saw the reference to a "pizza symbol" and I clicked on that thinking "this must be weird conspiracy theorist hysteria"

But no. That little girl doll has a drawing of a pizza slice on her back when you dip it in water. And the others have lingerie.

What the actual fucking FUCK!?

What toy company makes these? The world is getting so surreal, I can't quite process this.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 14/08/2020 11:11

I don't get the pizza thing and I'm too scared to Google...

Kantastic · 14/08/2020 11:11

Just realised my post might need explanation - the pizza slice is a reference to "Pizzagate" which is a bizarre American conspiracy theory about child trafficking. The conspiracy theorists have created an association between pizza references and child porn.

SerenityNowwwww · 14/08/2020 11:17

Oh I seee!

TheGreatWave · 14/08/2020 11:37

Oh my goodness, that is absolutely shocking. Thankfully my 8year old has never been bothered by them, I am even more thankful then I was before.

googybob · 14/08/2020 11:47

Aye, that's creepy as fuck.

Definitely the style of the underwear & the fact it's a secret. Super creepy

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 14/08/2020 11:52

Advise not searching 'save our kids' hashtag. A weird and disturbing rabbit hole, looks like made up conspiracy mixed in with possible fact.

2beautifulbabs · 14/08/2020 12:03

Awful stuff I won't be buying any for my DS or DD they will be band.
What is so wrong why is society forcing children to grow up so quickly this has been going on for years little girls being gifted make up sets clothing getting more and more revelling for children etc the list is endless

ComeOnBabyPopMyBubble · 14/08/2020 12:24

Is this on all the dolls or just the ones advertised as changing colour in either hot or cold water?

Mydarlingsleepthief · 14/08/2020 12:28

My dd’s have been obsessed with LOLS for years and they see this as just part of the colour changing aspect of the dolls.

Do we really need to demonise everything looking for signs to be outraged by? It’s just a toy!

ThisMustBeMyDream · 14/08/2020 12:32

My stepdaughter has LOL dolls. I checked hers. They don't do this.

Is this real or is someone using magic markers?

Motherofmonsters · 14/08/2020 12:35

I believe its real but some people.have said there's dont so it might be different batches.

The outrage is because it's 'adult sexy underwear' not children's

OP posts:
OhHolyJesus · 14/08/2020 12:36

So is this a weird paedophilia related thing of people who work at the factory to make the dolls and they only do it on certain batches, or US ones have them and Uk/EU don't or something like that? I'm so confused. Who are the manufacturers?

ComeOnBabyPopMyBubble · 14/08/2020 12:45

I think the confusion comes because some of the dolls are designed to colour change . It's not a secret and they are advertised as such. The fact that what they colour change to is completely inappropriate is a different issue, but this makes it sound like it's a hidden thing .
