Why don’t the men wear Speedo’s?

I was watching Breakfast news this morning and the English Commanwealth men’s and women’s teams for beach volleyball were demonstrating their game, it really struck me how different the team kit was between the sexes, the men had on long vest tops and knee length shorts, the women were wearing crop tops and tiny briefs which whilst playing became a thong. I have no issue with the women wearing the sports bikini but why don’t the men wear Speedo’s? Why are women’s (beautiful) bodies exposed but the men’s (beautiful) bodies are covered up? It irrationally irritated me this morning! I’ve posted similar pictures to what they were wearing for a visual aid!

Also I don't buy the argument that they're so much better performance wise. Why don't the men wear similar then? Do they simply not care about their performance just as much?
You've clearly not read whats been posted. The men only have 1 choice of outfit in the rules. As for the women "we’ve gotten a lot of athletes on record saying they prefer to wear a two-piece because there are less places for sand to hide. They don’t view it as swimwear or anything like a fashion statement. For them, that’s their uniform.”

As for the issue of clothing in general "The sport's biggest star, Kerri Walsh Jennings, has been adamant. It's her choice to wear a bikini, she has said, noting that she often plays in 100-degree weather. She said rather than focusing on sex appeal, the spotlight should be on the hard work and athleticism of the competitors.

Savage isn't sure that's possible — even if men and women were to wear the exact same uniform in every sport.

"No matter what women achieve, their achievement is often diminished and seen as less than (men's) because this is how we view femininity and women in our culture," she said. "When women are seen as their bodies, women will never be viewed as full human beings."

I've read it several times in various articles. I still don't buy it.

But then again 1.I'm a cynic and 2. I'm very familiar with women being allowed "choices" throughout the years.

It would be a VERY strict office that insited on jacket and tie in the summer for men. Where did you work?
If somehwere has a VERY formal dress code, I can't see how sandals would be allowed either.

I summer men could wear no tie or jacket. I would change shoes for meeting but strap shoes for women more ok for office than man's sandals so the men still west trousers and shoes. One day air con not working and 30 degrees in office. All men complaining that too hot in trousers and long sleeve even without tie.

And office manager woman who always keep it warm. All girls loved it but men always complain. I think not fair as easy to put on jumper if cold but not much to do if too hot. Can't take off trousers!

I always wonder about how very uncomfortable women athletes and gymnasts must be, with their shorts/leotards bunched up in their bottoms! Personally, I can't bear knickers that do that just waking about, it must be much worse when doing sport.

TurbidTsarina · 05/10/2020 15:03

I'm wondering, when people complain about men wearing skimpy clothes, is that "slut shaming"?

Here's a video from Australian TV in the 1970s. Warning, may distress some viewers:

"I think not fair as easy to put on jumper if cold but not much to do if too hot. Can't take off trousers!"

I disagree. You can wear light clothes e.g. linen trousers, but you can't work in gloves and a massive coat if you have to use a computer.

Why would their clothes be 'bunched up' in their bottoms? They're designed to be functional while doing a full range of movement. A lot of time and money is invested in designing sportswear, especially that worn by top pros.

They're designed to be functional while doing a full range of movement.

And yet they do go up their bums. Not bunched up,true as there's not enough material. They're bikini bottoms. No matter how good quality, they'll scrunch up because that's what bikinis do due to size.

Just google beach volleyball women and in a lot of the pics their bottoms are going in. There are also some with the bottoms so ridiculously tiny it can't feel that good.
