Fabulous!!
womanaf · 31/07/2020 19:22

I love that they did that.

Epic women.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 31/07/2020 20:00

Posie's brilliant.

She's just a bit scary because she is confident.

JamesArthursEyelashes · 31/07/2020 20:11

My I ❤JK Rowling tote bag arrived this morning, and I only ordered it yesterday.

Maybe there’s not much demand. 🤣 I mean I like her and agree with what she’s said but it’s a bit cringe to go around with a bag declaring that.

It's not cringe at all. It's a statement of support.
FloralBunting · 31/07/2020 22:41

I've got a tote bag with 'Disrespectful Woman' on it after Posie was called that by a tabloid after her This Morning appearance. Struck me as such a wonderfully po-faced and Victorian style thing to say about a woman that I wanted to walk around letting everyone know I was one too.

In comparison, an I❤JK Rowling one seems rather positive and life affirming.

ChattyLion · 31/07/2020 23:11

Betsy I love that pic so much SmileSmileGrin

@JamesArthursEyelashes You sad sap, Posie has fulfilled over 200 orders since this ridiculous take down of her poster at Waverley station. You said that you cant stand her, for fucks sake make your mind up. The splinters in your arse must be really painful now.
Ballyhopper · 01/08/2020 00:06

Random interjection but I think PP has said she was banned from MN for refusing to use she/her pronouns for transwomen.

Anyway....

I love this PR stunt and I love JKR!

Good job you’re not being forced to. It’s not as if you’re going to be questioned if you don’t wear a ‘I ❤️ JKR’ tabard or badge, in places such as your work. That only happens if you refuse to show your support for certain other members of the community.
JamesArthursEyelashes · 01/08/2020 01:15

I think you need to read my post again. I’ve been very clear but obviously you have comprehension problems so maybe it’s you that is the ‘sad sap’.

JamesArthursEyelashes · 01/08/2020 01:17

I assume James means that James likes JKR!

Yes, very much so. Smile

Can see that, makes sense - I also saw a post equating a school head who was trans as automatically dodgy just cos trans.
Yeah.
How is that not problematic? Lumping everyone in together, one big blob?

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 01/08/2020 01:42

Top bit forgot to bold - was a quote

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 01/08/2020 02:04

Well I’m not a TRA, I just don’t like her. I agree with some of what she says but not all and I think she’s very arrogant with a huge ego. I don’t expect her to care whether I like her or not though.

I’m not quoting to have a go at you; you have an opinion and that’s up to you - but your comment sparked a train of thought more generally.

It’s interesting though, that your dislike is based on “arrogance and ego”. They’re characteristics of many successful men (all of them perhaps?). It’s certainly true of most politicians I know or know of. A degree of certainty about your ability is necessary in order to put yourself in the public view.

Whether its ego or self-confidence and a strong sense of self-worth probably depends on whether you agree with their policies or not. Wink

We have entire campaigns devoted to increasing women’s bodily confidence, (mostly so they’ll buy product), but ego is still a dirty word when it comes to women.

Posie is kicking serious publicity goals, while withstanding a torrent of opposition, often from her own side. I’d think a healthy ego and a belief in the rightness of her cause, are a necessary prerequisite for her achievements.

While it seems men are allowed access to a range of ways of being, women are limited to the pastel sphere of submission, humility, selflessness, self-effacement and niceness.

I enjoy Posie’s gutsy campaigns, and her willingness to say what she means without feeling the need to hedge about with niceness.

BitOfFun · 01/08/2020 02:06

I've just rewatched the YouTube video- thanks for the reminder. It really does get better with each viewing Grin.

I think self confidence is a good thing. I don’t see that in Posie though. I just see arrogance and ego. I don’t like those traits in men or women but I do like confidence in both.

I don’t like Posies refusal to call trans women, trans women either. Or the fact that she won’t use her and she for trans women. I understand why she doesn’t, she’s told us why, but I can’t agree. Whilst we are letting people transition, I do not think trans women should be called men and he. There are really troubled people involved and I don’t wish to cause further upset to them. I don’t believe trans women should be allowed in women’s prisons, women’s refuges, women’s sport etc but I see calling them she and her and trans women as something that I can do. Posies stance is just a bit too extreme for me.

BetsyM00 · 01/08/2020 05:53

The problem is that if I call a man her/she then I cannot be surprised if other people choose to do so too - including the journalists reporting a sexual assault case by a TW, or a judge presiding over a rape case.

In Scotland we have a law where 50% of public board positions should go to women. Part of the test for a "woman" is if people use female pronouns for a male candidate, and describe him as a woman. So by being "kind" and using she/her I would be actively contributing to males taking women's positions in public roles.

So I won't do it. And that's not extreme, it's just common sense.

BetsyM00 · 01/08/2020 05:57

And "transwomen are transwomen" is fine as far as it goes. But TW is not a new, third sex. People are either male or female.

Datun · 01/08/2020 06:41

Posie refuses to get sidetracked by ever tightening TRA arguments over what constitutes male and female.

We all know the difference and we all know why it's important for many TRAs to obscure it.

Correctly identifying sex is key to that argument.

So it's pretty odd to imagine she won't do it/shouldn't do it/can be criticised for not doing it. Unless you disagree with the entire premise of course.

It's not personal. And trying to make it so, or reduce it to platitudes of 'be kind' looks like one either doesn't comprehend the argument - or that one comprehends it only too well and is undermining it.

Fab post 'DancelikeEmmaGoldman

Posie is helping to take back the public space that women are being ejected from.
I reckon she's a genius. I listened the other day to her podcast with Marcus Evans where she gave him the space to inform and educate others about the psychology behind trans activists and the real harm that is happening to children.
Posie's a fierce warrior woman having a huge impact - good for her.

Good article here, which also "urges" people to go to the Speakers Corner event in Edinburgh on Sunday. Smile

I think it a growing up experience.

The older I get, the more I appreciate women like Posie and their "arrogance and ego" and their ability to get something done.

That is because the Overton Window has been moved in favour of TRAs over the last few years. You need to realign yourself with reality.
