I'm not on Twitter, but I post on MN.

Every single post I make tomorrow will end with "I ❤️ JKR". Because right now, I do.

JamesArthursEyelashes · 30/07/2020 16:40

She doesn’t seem to be particularly bothered whether people like her or not.

Well I’m not a TRA, I just don’t like her. I agree with some of what she says but not all and I think she’s very arrogant with a huge ego. I don’t expect her to care whether I like her or not though. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Aesopfable · 30/07/2020 16:41

I remember a while back they tried to discredit Posie with a beautiful picture of her with her newborne. It was a lovely tender photo of Posie looking entirely natural. The TRAs tried to make out it was awful because of the lack of makeup and seemed rather thrown by the response that this was a photo of true beautiful womanhood.

Aesopfable · 30/07/2020 16:43

I don’t know whether I would like her or not as I don’t know her.

CasuallyMasculine · 30/07/2020 17:10

I didn’t say you were a TRA Confused.

I’m just saying this isn’t really about Kellie-Jay and whether people like her. It’s about the fact that she picks her actions carefully to make her point - and it works.

Like a pp, I don’t know her so I couldn’t possibly say whether I like her or not.

She rattles the TRAs, and that’s good enough for me.

JamesArthursEyelashes · 30/07/2020 17:20

I didn’t say you did. Confused I’m just making the point that it’s not only TRAs that don’t like her. I haven’t liked all of her past actions and the points she’s made with them. I also don’t think that JKR would agree with her on lots of things but obviously I don’t know. Anyway, not wanting to get into a big debate, this caught my attention because I feel very sorry for JKR and all the trouble and backlash she has received for her very well thought out message so I was pleased she was getting some support.

nauticant · 30/07/2020 17:56

I think you've made the point that you don't like Posie Parker. However, if you do want to continue posting that you don't like her, then you're free to do so.

FloralBunting · 30/07/2020 18:04

I think I'd quite like to be the sort of effective but troublesome woman who people feel they need to add disclaimers to any positive comments about headline grabbing things I did. That's some serious impact there.

highame · 30/07/2020 18:04

@JamesArthursEyelashes

The unfortunate thing about women is that sometimes they can care too much what people think and that is why we're in such a mess.

I do not care what people think about me or my views because if I did, I wouldn't have got very far in life. My friends understand exactly the person I am and it hasn't put them off.

CasuallyMasculine · 30/07/2020 18:10

Quite.

KingFredsTache · 30/07/2020 18:10

It's OK to not like Posie Parker, and in fact one of the fabulous things about her is that she doesn't give a fuck what people think.

It's very liberating, actually.

And Posie doesn't give a flying fuck what most people think.

She is almost primevally tied to highlighting damage done to children for being gender nonconforming.

Plus she sees the obvious conflict, and profound disconnect, between men who have AGP, and children who hate their bodies due to gender oppression.

Still, it's not gone unnoticed that the women who make the difference are now being labelled 'problematic'.

Fortunately, many of us see that as a massive compliment.

I think that’s a big of a sweeping statement, not sure I agree but maybe I’m just surrounded by women who speak their mind. I think Posie should absolutely be allowed to say what she wants, i just don’t agree with some of it or the way she goes about it. Like I say though, I don’t expect her to care or to stop.

JamesArthursEyelashes · 30/07/2020 18:23

bit not big.

Lamahaha · 30/07/2020 18:34

There are two women at the very forefront in this struggle to get out of this mess.
One is JKR. The other is PP.
I don't know either of them but I think they are fabulous in what they are doing and at the end of it we will owe them everything. That's enough for me. I think PP's ego is irrelevant, btw. Maybe one needs one to win this battle; either a huge ego or a huge bank balance! We have one of each (if it's true about PP) and that's good enough for me. It's all about the goal.
PP cares above all for children and young women. Every word she speaks is loaded with that caring. It is wonderful to see. She is putting herself out there in a way few of us would.

I don't care what people think of me, but I am not proficient as a speaker and could not even begin to stand in front of a microphone and a crowd or a TV camera and say what she says, with such confidence and calm, and always the right words. It's a skill that few of us posses.

Lamahaha · 30/07/2020 18:38

YAY! It's in the DM! (Sorry if it's been posted before)

Actually, what you said was “I can’t stand Posie”. At least own what you said.

highame · 30/07/2020 19:01

Yes, we absolutely need these big names out in front. Big voices and big bank balances 😁, we can get motivated behind these women but wee have to do our bit too, no matter how small, a letter here, a conversation there. It all builds and with all the sunlight, confidence grows.

fatblackcatspaw · 30/07/2020 19:09

I would say the Pankhursts had egos the size of battleships particularly Christabel who was quite a vile person btw! They were fair flummoxed when they tried to bend Aberdeen Suffragettes to their will - Adele was sent to get them to toe the line apparently never mentioned Aberdeen for the rest of her life. But they got things done, they also got publicity, much of what we think of as media management was pioneered by the WSPU.

JamesArthursEyelashes · 30/07/2020 19:09

Actually, what you said was “I can’t stand Posie”. At least own what you said.

Confused I do own what I said. I can’t stand her but I still think she should be able to say what she wants to. I agree with some of it but I don’t like how she goes about things sometimes.

I don’t think people should be allowed to have hormones or any kind of surgery in order to transition. I don’t believe in gender. I don’t think people can change sex. Im sure these are beliefs I share with Posie, I just don’t like her. That’s allowed. And I’m sure she wouldn’t care.

MaMaLa321 · 30/07/2020 19:09

I admire her very much. Just for having the balls to keep on saying, again and again, the truth. And not give a damn for the consequences.

I watch her youtube podcasts. Sometimes they're rambling, but more often they're spot on. Yesterday she was talking about Stella Creasey breastfeeding in the HoC. And saying she was wrong. Which will annoy a lot of people, but I find it refreshing (because I agree with her AND dislike SC).

highame · 30/07/2020 19:20

Loved seeing Stella in HoC with her infant.

I'm still shocked at how little things have changed. We were all for women breastfeeding wherever they pleased. It was considered natural and therefore acceptable. Some didn't like it but I did think it was a good move (like on so many other issues, we really haven't built much on the past). I'm out of touch so just difficult sometimes to see us not much further up the hill

CasuallyMasculine · 30/07/2020 19:38

Of course “not liking” someone is allowed.

Strange to “not like” someone you’ve never met though, rather than just not liking some of their views. Why make it personal?

Floisme · 30/07/2020 19:46

Oh come off the fence James - do you like her or not?
Wink

And just before I run away, there are loads of people I've never met but like or dislike, sometimes intensely.

JamesArthursEyelashes · 30/07/2020 19:50

Strange to “not like” someone you’ve never met though, rather than just not liking some of their views.

Well, peoples views and the way they go about things generally make you like them or not. At least for me anyway. If that’s not how things are for you, fair enough. I just think that I’ve seen enough of Posie on interviews to know that she’s not someone I like, although I do agree with some things she says.

I don’t know what else I can say. 🤷🏻‍♀️
