Thanks goodness for Jo.

Go on JK!

Collidascope · 25/07/2020 15:12

I love her.

Mumfun · 25/07/2020 15:14

Amazing, One woman campaign for good mental health care for kids. Right side of history.

SarahTancredi · 25/07/2020 15:14

👏👏👏

truthisarevolutionaryact · 25/07/2020 15:17

JKR's a woman and a mother - and we're none of us ever going to be silenced about this unethical medical experimentation on children.

Brilliant woman. Flowers

NotTerfNorCis · 25/07/2020 15:24

Good for her!

wellbehavedwomen · 25/07/2020 15:27

She's wonderful. So very grateful to her.

TheWordWomanIsTaken · 25/07/2020 15:28

Legend
And the comments are overwhelmingly supportive. I have begun to tentatively think that maybe, just maybe, the tide is turning.
As a woman (with children and grandchildren) I don't know how I could ever thank JKR enough. I'm humbled by her.

RoyalCorgi · 25/07/2020 15:35

So grateful to her. She could have stopped after all the abuse she received, but she keeps on going.

nauticant · 25/07/2020 15:43

That's a nicely chosen discussion topic. Look at them line up to say: "how dare you be concerned about child safeguarding, you must shut up about this immediately".

That's how to get the righteous to tweet massive hostages to fortune.

Kantastic · 25/07/2020 15:50

It's quite remarkable that she wrote a series of books where the hero is standing up against authoritarian lies, telling the truth even when subjected to opprobium for it, fighting lies and corruption in the education system, speaking out on behalf of all the people who are too afraid to speak out for themselves... and now she's actually doing all that in actual life.

If magic were real, I'd love to curse all the HP fans who hate her for telling the truth with self-awareness.

Datun · 25/07/2020 15:51

She on it! 💪

Here is the thread about those two papers. He is calling it an uncontrolled experiment ffs.

I can remember the first time I read on here a post that said they are experimenting on our children. Our children are guinea pigs.

And I thought gosh, that's a bit of an extreme thing to say.

But it was really borne in on me when I read about jazz Jennings. Jazz's doctor waved at jazz's chest and said we did you a huge favour here, then pointed at their groin and said but not so much there.

As though the whole fucking thing had come as a complete shock.

It would appear, in hindsight, that it bloody well had.

merrylittleway · 25/07/2020 15:51

She continues to impress me, I am in awe of her

AtrociousCircumstance · 25/07/2020 15:53

Thank you JK. Keep going.

CaveMum · 25/07/2020 15:56

She’s amazing!

Murraygoldberg · 25/07/2020 16:01

An absolute star, have never felt like writing to a celeb ever before but I feel I should to her, I don't know why I feel this why but she is starting to be a hero of mine

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 25/07/2020 16:06

Amazing, inspiring woman. Keep going, Jo!

IloveJKRowling · 25/07/2020 16:08

She's amazing. I also love how she writes all kinds of female characters from Hermione to Molly Weasley to Bellatrix. I also love how Narcissa Malfoy's desire to save her child is Voldemort's ultimate undoing. I think there is a lesson in that particular part of the story.

TeacupDrama · 25/07/2020 16:12

the cambridge article is very thoughtful, this has always been y thoughts that young teenagers can't possibly understand or assess the long ternm side effects of possible infertility etc, we don't allow young teenagers to get tattoos for this reason why allow much more serious permanent changes to the body, I don't agree with J K Rowling on everything but on this she is right

queenofknives · 25/07/2020 16:16

She's my hero. I love her.

Absolutely this, I’m so glad that someone has the strength to go through all of this and not give in and roll over to the TRAs. Stephen King, I’m looking at you, you coward.
Cuntysnark · 25/07/2020 16:28

I’m in awe of JKR. A true shero.

Kantastic · 25/07/2020 16:29

Would "Umbridges" be a better name for "handmaidens?"

I know - look at her compared to Stephen King, Ricky Gervais, James O'brien, Jonathan Ross. All men who wouldn't come in for the fraction of the shit that she has if they just spoke out in support of women and children, but they are too chicken shit to do it.

Every time she tweets it makes my day a bit brighter, what a woman she is!
