Apologies if there was a three as that I’ve missed but just in case...
This is horrifying. What parents would allow their children on an open zoom call with complete strangers? How woke are we to be literally sleepwalking through this?

The lack of safeguarding in the set up alone is horrifying.
Those poor kids.

Babyvibe · 22/07/2020 19:47

This is bizarre. Why would any parent let there 6 year old go on a zoom chat with a stranger when they have also said the parents are not allowed to speak or join in Confused I get teaching people in school about gender but not a random on the internet over a zoom call asking for 6 year olds. Strange.

BillyCotton · 22/07/2020 19:51

I usually read Sarah's threads but have not been online for couple of days so missed this one.

I am used to a level of batshit but they do not usually involve children.

This is very concerning. It is beyond the red flag bunting level of worrying.

If the government, social services and police have not got this sort of stuff on their radar I hate to think where we are heading.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 22/07/2020 19:56

They want to talk to 6 year olds about sex, gender, and that big meanie JKR.

WERE IS THE FUCKING SAFEGUARDING?!

SapphosRock · 22/07/2020 19:57

Wow. Very inappropriate.

Gingernaut · 22/07/2020 20:41

This is not a parody.

Pinky, Zen and Shay are all giving talks on Zoom to members of LGBT+Sparkle.

There are a lot of dodgy as fuck Zoom meetings aimed specifically at children and young people.

HandsOffMyRights · 22/07/2020 20:45

This is horrifying.

When would you give any adult access to your 6 year old like this?

Where is the safeguarding, the boundaries?

Who are these adults that are organising this?

MrsJamin · 22/07/2020 20:57

Healthwatch have totally drunk the kool-aid, surveys they provide just have a question about "what is your gender identity?" with nothing about your sex. This is horrendous, who is the safeguarding officer for Healthwatch?

Cult-indoctrination of 6-year olds, talking about things only older people would understand Shock

TheChampagneGalop · 22/07/2020 21:23

people.howstuffworks.com/cult4.htm
A destructive cult uses countless techniques to get its members to stay, commit themselves and take part in what may be harmful activities. The sum of these techniques constitutes what some people call "mind control." It's also known as "thought reform," "brainwashing" and "coercive persuasion," and it involves the systematic breakdown of a person's sense of self.
Telling kids they need a gender identity that is seperate from their sex. That you should know at age 5. That woman isn't biology but how you present. Yes, that is messing with a person's sense of self.

FloralBunting · 22/07/2020 21:59

Holy. Shit.

Wow - huge great safeguarding fail.

I very much hope no parent allows their child to do this.

thehumanformerlyknownasfemale · 22/07/2020 22:09

"It is not a place for adults to speak or engage in debate about the content of the workshop."

What the actual fuck?? Angry Who the hell do they think they are telling parents to shut up when it comes to their own children?

midclegs · 22/07/2020 22:23

Thanks for sharing this @XXSex
I went on Gendered Intelligence the other day and they have 'Get me out of here' button. There needs to be an enquiry in to this ASAP

HandsOffMyRights · 22/07/2020 22:52

Ah Sparkle...friends of M&S

This week we catch up with Lee Clatworthy, Interim Vice Chair of Sparkle - The National Transgender Charity

'What has been your proudest achievement as a Trustee of Sparkle?'

Last year I invited the new Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, to speak to everyone about his commitment to trans equality, acceptance, and his support for the reform of the Gender Recognition Act. This year, I've persuaded Marks & Spencer to have a considerable presence in the park. As well as proving the Marks & Spencer brand to be more inclusive and progressive than most people think, it's great to have them offering their Fit & Style and bra-fitting services to our visitors. They'll also be wanting to talk to trans men about the possibility of manufacturing and selling binders on the high street - which is a huge step forward!'

HandsOffMyRights · 22/07/2020 22:54

I had recalled a male bod bragging about this on Twitter at the time. Gloating that wait until MN found out M&S were donating to Sparkle.

OhHolyJesus · 22/07/2020 23:14

Is this for real? I didn't think my gaster could be further flabbered. 6? This has to be a set up...

WTAF?

How do we report this?

BadgertheBodger · 22/07/2020 23:24

There are so many things wrong here. So. Fucking. Many. I’m beyond even believing that most of these people at these charities are well-meaning fools. They seem more like people who I’d class as actively dangerous towards children. And just for clarity - no, I‘M not inferring anything in particular about any individual or even a group of individuals. Such a catastrophic failure to understand safeguarding has consequences which stretch far beyond their nonsense and which they obviously couldn’t even begin to comprehend.

So, in that case (as it’s clear they haven’t got the faintest idea about safeguarding), I propose they are made to stay the fuck away from children. There is active harm being done here.

IloveJKRowling · 22/07/2020 23:26

So I posted before I read the transcript.

Apparently lots of parents let their children do this unsupervised. And the kids were warned at the start 'not to try to make what we're saying wrong'. And that's just the start.

What the hell. WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE? WHERE WERE THE PARENTS?

BloodSweatAndBeers · 22/07/2020 23:29

M&S are going to be selling binders?

EndoplasmicReticulum · 22/07/2020 23:31

Many schools have not used Zoom for remote teaching due to various safeguarding risks.
The NSPCC page here has "official age rating" 16+ and suggest parents should supervise children using it.

HandsOffMyRights · 22/07/2020 23:31

@BloodSweatAndBeers

M&S are going to be selling binders?
The interview was from 2018, so hoping that never materialised, but who knows with M&S?
