Sorry if there's been a thread about this and I've missed it.

Green Party currently having an election for Deputy Leader. Hustings over the weekend. Somebody asked 'What is a woman?' Here are the answers. Jawdropping.

However, good news! Andrea Carey Fuller, a candidate who was not at the hustings, has now clarified what she would have said - Adult Human Female. Flowers twitter.com/hullfair/status/1285193309959475200?s=20

It's a huge relief to find that at least one Green knows what a woman is but if she got elected she'd have her work cut out for her trying to change the internal culture in the Green Party. Good luck to her.

Ok, I've joined. Let's see how we go.

I used to be pretty active for the Lib Dems, but... i think it's safe to say our political goals no longer align.

LastTrainEast · 21/07/2020 15:45

@GreenChris

As in all political parties, the gender-woo-woo fanatics targeted the leadership structures of the Green Party some years ago, but gender critical women are standing firm and with candidates like Andrea standing in next month's elections, there is now a chance to rescue the party. Anyone who joins before 31st July can vote: join.greenparty.org.uk
Pity you can only join one party. I see nothing immoral in supporting like minded people in other parties. Regardless of which party wins you want the opposition to be led by thoughtful people too don't you.
FantaOra · 21/07/2020 15:49

Oh the irony of this candidate talking about simplifying language.

@teawamutu "What are Andrea and Shahrar's chances of winning, would you say? If any good I might actually join and vote."

All to play for, well worth a punt, especially as we're galvanising.

Lysistra65 · 21/07/2020 22:05

People are fighting this in the Green Party. I will vote for Shahrar Ali and Andrea Carey Fuller, who both know humans cannot change sex. They put climate & the environment, health & a Green New Deal before gender nonsense.

I'm sure that everyone can decide who would be the best choice for the new Trade Union Liaison Officer to be voted in soon

Hint - it's probably not the LGBTIQA choice but you may disagree with me:

highame · 26/07/2020 14:59

Two of them are as daft as a bag of monkeys but Theo seems as though he knows what he's talking about, so of course he's not going to win

GreenieFingers · 26/07/2020 15:07

@highame we can do this if the message gets out to the voters within GPEW, most of whom do not know the full information about the take-over within the Party or the views of the candidates.
It's up to us all to get that information out to anyone we know who is a member.

GreenieFingers · 26/07/2020 15:09

Yes, you are right, Theo absolutely does know what he is talking about.

I couldn't possibly comment upon whether or not the others are as daft as a bag of monkeys though.

Theo wrote:
"I don't know what this means in practice. I support the rights of all people to identify as they choose and to be protected in that right."
"I do not understand why a non-binary identity would be relevant to internal processes or why special provision would need to be made for people who identify that way, except in ensuring their safety from discrimination, victimisation or hate speech."
We scored this zero

The others unequivocally backed this pledge. Does this mean that they could explain the implications of this pledge to Theo?

testing987654321 · 26/07/2020 15:26

That was in response to pledge 2, I have absolutely no idea what it means.

highame · 26/07/2020 16:08

The reason others unequivocally backed the pledges (because they did it for all of them) is because they either weren't interested, or didn't really understand. So I guess it's a 'no' on the explanation front

letterem · 26/07/2020 16:28

Theo is absolutely sound as a pound - he knows all the ins and outs of this 'discussion' . He has daughters, so could be said to have skin in the game, though besides that , he is a thoroughly decent human being grounded in reality , so he would be on the side of reality and science regardless. He gets my vote

ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings · 26/07/2020 18:57

Someone mentioned before that there's an online organising space for gender critical greens, could someone maybe pm me saying how to join? I'd love to help with the "getting organised" efforts.

IloveJKRowling · 26/07/2020 19:21

Anyone who joins before 31st July can vote: join.greenparty.org.uk Join the fight for women

Thanks for the heads up, tempting

GreenieFingers · 26/07/2020 22:33

Any such online organising space would be secret and unable to be accessed by anyone outside of the select few. Too much to lose and too many poisonous activists within GPEW trying to stab any non-compliant Party members in the back and create spurious complaints against them.

WarmthAndDepth · 27/07/2020 02:17

Something to show that there is hope in the Green Party:
Theo Simon of Frome, running for Trade Union Liaison Officer, submitted eloquent written responses to the LGBTIQA+Greens pledges:
t.co/t8ATTDxDC9?amp=1
Integrity and balls.

SoftlySoftly123 · 27/07/2020 07:30

@WarmthAndDepth though the scoring of those responses is just Confused. So you get a 0 for suggesting that school materials recognise biological reality and reject gender stereotypes.

WarmthAndDepth · 27/07/2020 07:47

I agree, Softly. I'm not sure how it has come to such a pass that candidates are required to submit themselves to this line of scrutiny, and by whose standard the example you cite is acceptable. Theo Simon has consistently stood up for the rights of women and girls, and I hope his written submissions afford him an unexpected platform and support. He would make an exemplary Trade Union Liaison Officer.

Socrates11 · 27/07/2020 08:12

The complete balls up over safeguarding, the eviction of whistleblowers and weak to non existent response to the Veritas report fried my head. I did think of rejoining for the deputies vote but went through some of the policies and the 'men who think they are women are women nonsense just fucked me off, again.

All the energy spent on trying to defend women's rights in the face of this shit is scandalous. That senior Greens come out with such limp platitudes and allow that TUC pledge scoring, sorry. It's too damn infuriating.

Wearily wonders about humanities ongoing ability to ignore #ArcticHeatwaves, #ChinaFloods and the #SixthExtinction

Socrates11 · 27/07/2020 08:13

Sorry Trade Union Liaison stuff not TUC!

Socrates11 · 27/07/2020 08:14

Theo, down graded for thoughtful answers and for not blithely agreeing with whatever he was told! Fucks me right off

GreenieFingers · 28/07/2020 01:02

@Socrates11 - it's a horror story inside GPEW, but we are fighting to regain sanity within the Party. The vast majority of the members are heartily sick of the identity politics obsession and want the Party to scrap it all, make some attempt to save the planet and not to abandon all science in favour of gender-woo. We need numbers to do that and also to share the information with all members, about which candidates support which policies.

AnotherLass · 28/07/2020 01:56

Oh go Theo! I knew him of old and he never lacked guts. His brave, thoughtful answers show up the others for being the cowards/ unthinking idiots that they are.
