I think she was hounded and bullied on social media about her views. Just saw a news article saying she was sent pictures of baseball bats with barbed wire around it.

Ah, the barbed wire baseball bats are so effective at promoting the 'love is love' message. The woman who is blessed to receive these loving threats of rape and violence can then go and educate herself on kindness and inclusion safe in the knowledge that feminism is now inclusive of everyone, even those who wish to harm her.

This is the second time then. She deleted her account about 12 -18 months ago for similar wrong think. She retracted then too - she clearly thinks it’s bollocks but as a middle aged female actor she’s well aware she’s not top of the employment list

I really feel for AA - she’s made a few tentative gender-crit comments over the years, but has retreated sharply each time after receiving abuse.

As a woman reliant on receiving repeat employment in a profession that veers heavily towards wokeness, she’s not in a position to speak as freely as JKR. I suspect she’s very frustrated by the inability to speak her truth.

I saw her post, and have sent her support on twitter. I love Amanda, I think she's an intelligent, lovely woman. She just doesn't believe a penis can be female, so apparently that means she must be hounded off social media and cancelled.

That "hostage post" (as I've seen it called on twitter) is no doubt because her agent, or someone like that, has told her she won't get work again unless she apologises for (factually and scientifically correct) views.

So, when sent threatening images of barbed-wire-wrapped baseball bats - presumably with graphic instructions about where they will be inserted - the correct protocol is to publically grovel and promise to educate yourself?

This gets more and more like the 'cultural revolution' that set China back for decades.

Both Alison Moyet & Rob Webb did speak out and then appear to capitulate.

Alison sent an "apology" and Rob I think just deleted a tweet, and then kept quiet for a bit - but he has been very ill.

I would say that neither has actually changed their viewpoint, judging from their recent tweeting.

I really feel for her too. She seems like such a good egg. Her statement upthead sounds completely reasonable and sensible to me. Shes clearly been told that she wont work again unless full retraction, re-education blah blah..... I hope she can hang in there until the madness passes
