Blossom Brush: What The Actual Fuck or ... Good Idea?

Blossom Brush. A pink (obviously) silicone brush thing for popping up your hoo hah and having a good old rummage to get out all that nasty period debris. A sort of chimney sweep for your lady garden.

First thought was WHAT - yet another thing coyly insinuating YOU ARE NOT CLEAN ENOUGH.

No similar willy scouring device possibly presented in pin stripes or camouflage green available for chaps, I see.

On the other had, no faffing about with 'menstruators' and 'uterus havers' though - here it's 'Women' 🤗 & 'Feminine hygiene' 🤔 - They dare to use the words for the sex that doesn't exist.

And I'm starting to wonder - could it actually be a good product? I'll never need one now, and Dr Jen Gunther's not impressed, but what do we think?!

@YetAnotherSpartacus

Takes me back to the old days of Spare Rib when women talked about getting together and looking up their chuffs for consciousness raising purposes, using various kitchen implements. Male doctors were reported, to much hilarity, as sternly advising women not to do this as nothing sterile should go into a vagina

Oh Goddess yes! Women getting all emotional at seeing the cervixes (have I just massacred a Latin plural?) and comparing them with phases of the moon...

There's a site called "My Amazing Cervix" or something like that, where the site owner has done a linear montage from day 1 to day 28 - it was quite an awakening 😱

I see that one of the very smug looking entrepreneurs is an obstetrician.

Presumably, she's not a very good one.

Winesalot · 18/07/2020 23:18

Ahhh! No. Blossom Brush have protected their tweets. Maybe they have realised it is not good business to shame women for having unclean vaginas when the reality is that the female reproductive system is self cleaning. And has a delicate balance that should not be manipulated else it might lead to being prone to infection.

Of course any medical doctor would know this.....

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 18/07/2020 23:29

Just...... whyyyyyy?!
There's no actual words lol.
That sounds like a thrush accident waiting to happen!
My foof's self cleaning thank you.
Just - WTF?!
I can't believe anyone would actually buy these, is it a late April Fool Grin

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 18/07/2020 23:31

So, if period blood is supposed to be bad and yucky, where is the equivalent brush for your anus......given that the rectum is probably far dirtier most of the time

Good point, maybe market a bum brush for the men lol
Both as bonkers an idea

SocialConnection · 18/07/2020 23:38

There must be utter panic at Blossom Brush central.

Am I being cynical if I wonder that perhaps they've been alerted to their 'transphobia' of assuming that women have different biology to men?

Thinkingabout1t · 19/07/2020 00:01

Here's a cheaper alternative from Lakeland😂

Grin

Oh FFS does everything have to turn into a trans thread, can we all at least just agree that a brush to clean your vag is a batshit idea lol

TheSpottedZebra · 19/07/2020 00:33

I love my amazing self-cleansing vagina; back the fuck off, BB!

ShinyFootball · 19/07/2020 01:00

What is it globally through various things (this, religion etc) about vaginas / periods being dirty?

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 19/07/2020 01:09

I bloody wish my period material would have stayed in my vagina for 5 minutes to give me time to get to the loo rather than descending unannounced and entirely in an instant.

Acdcccc · 19/07/2020 02:15

I think they may have shut shop
The website is no longer active as a they appear to have deleted their social media accounts

Maybe it was a case of testing the market to see whether it was a product that would be received we’ll be women.

I saw very few comments on twitter so their Instagram posts must have gone down like a bomb.

I likened it in my mind to selling bleaching products for skin where skin discolours with age (or at least mine does). And maybe even pubic hair is a good comparison too. Totally unnecessary procedures and potentially very harmful. And people did not think it a problem until we were told to feel ashamed of it.

hoodathunkit · 20/07/2020 14:27

I thought that readers might be interested in learning more about how genital massage removes tension and blockages from the genitals.

one a youtube shannel operated by a Deer Tribe member there are a number of batshit videos explaining this concept, possibly the most succinct is this one

hoodathunkit · 20/07/2020 14:38

readers may also be interested in the fact that Pink Therapy promotes this kind of "therapy" as evidenced in the below advertised event, Pink Therapy's 6th Annual Conference in 2018 in which the followng text appears

some 'talk therapists' have been drawn to explore and retrain in other ways to work with people, using the body and sometimes touch. Sexological Bodywork, Somatic Sexology, Tantra, Sex Coaching and many other models which offer other, more direct ways to help people.

This event includes presentations from at least 2 Deer Tribe members

How can Pink Therapy claim that having sexual contact with clients is ever ethical?

The poster appears to suggest that having sexual contact with vulnerable clients is not, as you might imagine, sexual abuse, it is "helping them"

I call shenanigans on Pink Therapy and it's bizarre claims about helpling people. This is not therapy and is utterly abusive

I've been on MN long enough that this subject just makes me think of Brian from Hull.

hoodathunkit · 20/07/2020 14:57

an interesting perspective on the conference from Pink Therapy accredited therapist Tania Glyde who trained at the Minster Centre (new age / integrative / humanistic / body therapy) and who is unsurprisingly a member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Union

I've been on MN long enough that this subject just makes me think of Brian from Hull.

He's one man who was mocked for turning up on a thread and promoting his "yoni massage" business yes?

If it's him he got the flaming and ridicule he richly deserved, however many properly qualified and accredited counsellors, psychotherapists and other mental health professionals are offering "sexological bodywork", "sexual shamanism", "tantra" and the like as therapeutic services.

The people who make use of such services are usually mentally unwell or otherwise extremely vulnerable.

If you don't believe me just google for UKCP or BACP + "tantra" or "shamanism" or "sexological bodywork"

hoodathunkit · 20/07/2020 15:15

also Dominic Davies the man behind Pink therapy is on the "ethics panel" of the grandly titled "Association of Somatic and Integrative Sexologists" alongside an unimpressive aray of dangerous sex cultists
