Has this been posted already? It's from an email they sent. I saw it on Twitter so I'll be back with links.

I do wonder how much contact Actionaid employees and volunteers have with the woman and girls they are raising money for and championing? Is it possible that ActionAid UK staff have next to none and their concern over feminism is purely western focused on pomo bullshit and they merely outsource the difficult work with women and girls to completely separate individuals.

I think it's entirely possible, as with many other charities.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/07/2020 14:05

Interesting, though Happy. Sounds like there might be some tension in the organisation.

SarahTancredi · 22/07/2020 14:27

So perhaps there is more to this than meets the eye?

Nah there isn't.

We have seen this happen time and time again with dozens of organisations. Probably more. We have seen it with politicians and every single person who requested and paid for this " training". Everyone of them ends up backing themselves into this corner where unavoe to answer basic questions they double down and find themselves claiming babies have no sex, sex doesn't exist etc

Sure, there will be some unsuspecting sod they throw under a bus as they try to come back from what is clearly a ridiculous statement but let's not pretend this was all some misguided intern who posted it in the 30 seconds their supervisor was on the phone.

This is exactly what everyone was warning them about and I'm done giving these idiots the benefit of the doubt now.

So. Still.... nah. Too little too late.

Ah ha ha I smell the smell of a whole lot of execs shitting themselves as they watch the direct debit cancellations roll in.

SerenityNowwwww · 22/07/2020 18:41

I’d like to see the part of the process document that said that women and girls were still at risk worldwide, and that one of these risks is coming from first world gender politics.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 22/07/2020 18:50

I'd like to see the minutes of the most recent trustees meeting Grin

WeeBisom · 22/07/2020 19:15

That's interesting, because my partner who donates to them got the standard form email basically saying 'we are committed to trans women and trans girls so suck it up.' He asked for a substantive response but heard nothing. There was no indication this was a 'mistake'. He's looking elsewhere to donate his money now.

ValancyRedfern · 22/07/2020 19:32

That's a lot of people to 'listen' to in order to decide if female bodies exist.

flapjackfairy · 22/07/2020 20:03

@SerenityNowwwww
Satisfying isn't it ?

SerenityNowwwww · 22/07/2020 20:49

Actually it’s quite depressing. Haven’t they got anything better to do than debate this? Action! Action! Action!

SerenityNowwwww · 22/07/2020 20:53

The Baroness put it nicely on twitter (nail on head)/

“I would not bother with your ‘listening process’ @ActionAidUK if I were you.Who will believe you now? Even you yourselves are muddled and confused.Who is a ‘Rights holder’ for heaven’s sake? The same as your Stakeholders; or are they différent holders;and holding what? Thin air?“

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 22/07/2020 20:53

Fucking love the Baroness.

Complete agreement with this.
Winesalot · 22/07/2020 21:43

The Baroness rocks the art form of the insightful tweet often enough to lighten the day. Thank you Baroness.

Beamur · 23/07/2020 10:47

I see all the comments have now been removed from the Facebook adverts too.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 23/07/2020 12:40

Not surprising. I blocked their ads on FB but all the most recent comments were about this. PR disaster.

AntsInPenzance · 23/07/2020 13:23

@Apileofballyhoo

People who have periods isn't even there to include FTM transgender people. It's to avoid upsetting MTF transgender people who might feel left out.
Maybe, or maybe it was just about making it sound better. The alternative would either be females (too formal) or woman and girls (too long/not snappy).

Nope, we're not allowed 'females' now either. The hashtag 'only females can get cervical cancer' was deemed hate speech.

Musto · 23/07/2020 15:45

This academic identity theory just looks ridiculous when you try to push it into the real world. I do wonder how much longer organisations are going to wander into this with the blinkers on before people start to get the message that it simply does not mesh with their actual objectives at all.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 23/07/2020 18:36

Well, if the comment was 'shared in error', you would have thought they could have told me that when I said was cancelling my direct debit. They chose to bang on about inclusion rather than answer a straightforward question about science.

SerenityNowwwww · 23/07/2020 20:44

‘Shared in error’ is not BCCing an email or sending out a press release with a honking typo in it. Not crafting absolute nonsense, circulating it, doubling down then slowly backing away from it.

fatblackcatspaw · 27/07/2020 19:09

btw i'm getting a lot of Action Aid ads in my feed in instagram and facebuik - do comment on them and challenge them if an ad comes up in your feed. The facebuik one has some LIVELY responses.

crunchermuncher · 27/07/2020 19:42

I got the usual bollocks "inclusion of trans women and girls" reply, nothing in it about a mistake. Or for that matter including trans boys and men. Or are they just women and girls, it's only the trans women that ate deserving of inclusion?

It's not even consistent.

SerenityNowwwww · 27/07/2020 19:45

I bet!

Have they enlightened us with their research into the question that has perplexed philosophers, religious heads, village elders, emperors and kings - and wise men/women since humans first crawled out of the primordial soup?

What’s ‘woman’ ??? 🤔
