They all want transwomen as volunteers rather than to offer their services to transwomen that are affected by rape or other sexual assault. Why is that the focus?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the type of ‘self identifying woman’ who would apply for these jobs is exactly the type of person you wouldn’t want anywhere near a women’s refuge.

Ive called the us version of rape crisis to be greeted with a very male voice. Ditto D V phone helplines.

What exactly will stop the rapist in a given case, identifying as a woman to torture his victim some more?

It should just be a flat "no". Same as there would be reasons they would reject some women applicants.

Surely even the hardiest of transactivists can see that this is a cruel and stupid hill to die over.

With Oger's success defunding Vancover Rape Relief, I suspect they'll be emboldened. I often wonder if there's a "high" they're chasing that they get from abusing vulnerable women.

How dare they say it hasn't and won't happen when it already has.

There's only one kind if person who wpuld go for this job and they are precisely the type of person who should never be allowed anywhere near it.

Wouldn’t it be more sensible to talk about the safeguards they have in place to stop it happening rather than just insisting it never does (silent part ‘so we don’t need to safeguard against it’)

This is terrifying, especially after reading that thread yesterday about a TW wanting to erase their criminal history, because they believe their past as a male doesn't count now they're a woman.

This is so far from funny, it's downright cruel to vulnerable women :(

Ignoring the fact that one of the reasons teenage girls start identifying as boys is to escape from situations of sexual abuse.

Transgender women are welcome and encouraged to seek support from SARSVL and to deliver our services as volunteers or employees.

And they’re lying about the Equality Act 2010 - it says nothing of the sort about people identifying as something they’re not.

It's appalling that any rape crisis or DV centre which is predominantly set up and funded to help women and girls should boast about specifically excluding any person with a female body, no matter how they identify.

I mean, they seem to think it's a good thing . "We exclude this sub-section of female people in order to make space (and even centre) this sub-section of male people".

Even if we believed calling yourself ‘Susan’ was beyond the wit of manipulative predators (it has already been established you don’t need to put on a dress or shave) who will merrily put their life on hold, change jobs, take on other identifies, let alone following women to quiet place and violently raping them, surely that is irrelevant. The point is these women suffer because of what men - males- have done to them and need support in a space away from males even nice supportive ones.

But it comes back to the fact that no nice supportive male would ever dream of putting himself in a situation where he has the potential to make women distressed or uncomfortable. Any male who even considers 'helping' at a rape crisis centre has clearly identified himself as an abusive misogynist and therefore needs to be kept away from vulnerable women.

Is it to do with the funding only ? Or who has been put in the decision making seat. Outrageous that the law is being misused in this way. And as for the nonsense about not supporting women who are still women even they mistakenly identify as men, words fail me. As has been said above violence and abuse is very much part of these women’s history. But yes, go ahead and prioritise validation of men.

When a rape crisis centre becomes focused on providing lovely validation experiences and meeting of male emotional needs at direct cost to and failure of the people in crisis that they were set up to serve, the centre should lose its funding and the management team be sacked. It's ridiculous, they've wholly lost their way.

They won't do that, because once that admission is made, the door is open to what the relative offending patterns are, and then the house of cards collapses entirely.
