Munroe Bergdorf

I am trans.

I was a follower of Munroe Bergdorf’s Instagram.

Munroe wrote a post about JK Rowling, calling her a dangerous woman to the trans community. Munroe stayed something along the lines of

“JKR is a dangerous cisgendered, white woman who is causing harm”

I replied to this post, asking why Munroe felt it necessary to mention JK Rowing’s racial identity.

I wasn’t Abusive. I just felt that it wasn’t necessary, in regards to what Munroe was being critical of, to mention JK Rowling’s ethnicity.

Within minutes my post was deleted and I was blocked.

I am trans, and Munroe has silenced me.

So it seems nothing can be questioned. Any intent to ask a question, or to strike up debate, will be met with being silenced.

This is fast turning into propaganda. This is fast turning into thought crime. This is fast turning into silencing. This is fast turning into something it should never have been.

When a trans person isn’t even able to question another trans person, what chance do “people who belong to sex that menstruate”* have?

  • Christ, I don’t even feel like I can use the word women here without being controversial.

I am so sorry for people to whom I thought I identified alongside (trans people) who are doing this to you. I feel sick and ashamed of what I am, because of people who are representing me.

I feel like I literally have no space left. And I can’t help but feel that a lot of biological woman are feeling the same way. And you have so much more to lose than I ever will, so I simply can’t imagine how this is making you all feel.

Bewilderness Grin Are you sat reading from your script rules book or something, this is utterly bonkers.
Rules of Misogyny. Look them up.
TheProdigalKittensReturn · 08/07/2020 19:23

The videos Benjamin Boyce did about what happened at Evergreen State College are illuminating too.

DuDuDuLangaLangaBingBong · 08/07/2020 19:23

Until you realise by reading both sides, lots of different sources, that trans and even TRA's are actually people too.

It gets even more interesting when you put the personalities aside and start to drill down into the history and philosophy driving the apparent divisions.

@LemonadeAndDaisyChains Well I am still none the wiser as to what JKR’s race has to do with her comments on trans issues. “White privilege” and “white fragility” are not answers.

MadBadDaddy · 08/07/2020 19:24

I wouldn't waste my time on threads like these, ever, if I didn't know the result in advance.

That's just what any principled discussion forum wants to hear!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/07/2020 19:25

You certainly have a flair for odd, boring anecdotes that have absolutely nothing to do with what is being discussed.

Indeed they do.

Same, because I know it works in reverse too. As people have told me.
Just like you must know, as people have said it to you too but the other way round.

I really don’t believe this. My evidence being the extreme back pedalling the government are now doing re: GRA reforms (despite it being both proposed by Tory government and now opposed by a Tory government)

The more people become aware of this stuff (self ID ‘there is no such thing as biological sex’ etc) the more people become opposed to it.

Munroe Bergdorf is excellent for the feminist cause, as demonstrated by the original post on this thread. Munroe Bergdorf is causing trans people to come to Mumsnet FWR for a bit of sanity.

DuDuDuLangaLangaBingBong · 08/07/2020 19:31

@MrGHardy

"Actually we LOVE posters like you.

You give us the opportunity to demonstrate our arguments to the lurkers.

I originally came her to ‘educate myself’ on behest of trans activists. I lurked for months before I signed up."

Incidentally, I originally came here when MRAs on another board told me all the crazy feminists live here. I created an account, regurgitated the same arguments they used and got destroyed (well figuratively) and in the process learned that actually some of the most reasonable, deductive people post here, and made this account after some time lurking. Which is simultaneously testament to why they want to silence women - people who actually listen without bias will inevitably agree with them.

Grin

It’s great when people start complaining about us on Twitter etc, we inevitably get new friends from it!

How anyone sane would think it ok to prescribe unnecessary drugs to children that cause their teeth to drop out of their jaws is beyond me.

As I said, I don't care if you believe it or not.
I know that it is, and that's all that matters .

Welcome to the radicalization portal. We have cake

Sorry

This is nothing to do with the thread

But ive been job hunting for one of my children and under benefits one place said

‘We have a cake room’

I mean how awesome is that...

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 08/07/2020 19:35

I know that it is true that should read

Indeed. The backlash resulting in pushing transsexuals out, was predicted, on here, over, and over.

I'm not just by women, but by those same transsexuals.

MadBadDaddy · 08/07/2020 19:44

DuDuDuLangaLangaBingBong I don't think this thread is your finest hour, TBH, it was embarrassing way before I stuck my oar in.

The sheer wilful ignorance surrounding the mere concept of 'white privilege', especially in the wake of Black Lives Matter, is inexcusable. "do birds having flying privilege then?" was a particular low low point.

Mind you, this is the site that accuses any newspaper that disagrees with you of being a 'click-bait rag' and yet unironically touts the Daily Heil as a valid source of truth

Kantastic · 08/07/2020 19:45

The good thing about all the derails is the enjoyable thought of its titular protagonist finding it and then discovering they are barely mentioned in the thirty-three pages of discussion. I suspect they'd hate that.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 08/07/2020 19:46

I would so apply to any job that said there was a cake room. Just to go check it out during the interview if nothing else.

FantaOra · 08/07/2020 19:47

The performance assessment isn't necessary thanks.

Kantastic · 08/07/2020 19:47

do birds having flying privilege then?" was a particular low low point.

That was about the laughable concept of "pregnancy privilege" not about white privilege. STOP FUCKING LYING.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 08/07/2020 19:48

Just FYI, DuLang, you're doing a brilliant job.

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 08/07/2020 19:49

Also that pointing out white privilege is racist apparently

FantaOra · 08/07/2020 19:49

I worked somewhere with a Naparium once, all bean bags and lava lamps. Never saw anyone kipping in their.

OMG - how fricken cool is that.

I seem to remember you're a bit of a dab hand at the old cakery. 😊

@LemonadeAndDaisyChains

I really don’t believe this

As I said, I don't care if you believe it or not.
I know that it is, and that's all that matters .

I gave you an example of evidence as to how my belief has been informed.

Where is yours? How are your beliefs formed? If you have no real world evidence, then we may as well be debating the existence of god.

This is why I say the pro trans stance is ideology, not fact. Men cannot become women. Sex is not a spectrum. Biological sex exists and has a real world impact on the lives of women AND men.

Transactivism preaches the opposite. It’s practically a religion - all mouth and no trousers, as my Nan would say:

TornadoOfSouls · 08/07/2020 19:51

Did you think so? I enjoyed that one. One of the things I like about this board is that no matter how frustrating or depressing the subject matter, there is always levity, wit and humour.

TehBewilderness · 08/07/2020 19:51

This thread needs more cake, and possibly some lemon curd.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 08/07/2020 19:53

I don't have any cake but I do have chocolate chip oatmeal cookies.
