Just that really. Sorry if there's already a thread.

Aaaagh, of course it was roller-skating and not skate-boarding.

risefromyourgrave · 03/07/2020 11:47

I saw this yesterday and was going to post but I forgot. Blush

The best thing for me was that in the press release for it they used the words female and women. Funnily enough though The Metro who was reporting on it said ‘people.’ Hmm

Link to their reporting: metro.co.uk/2020/07/02/bodyforms-new-womb-stories-advert-breaks-every-taboo-period-advertising-has-previously-hidden-view-12933297/

I hadn't even read the other replies Shedbuilder, how funny we all said more or less the same thing Grin

Natsku · 03/07/2020 11:48

Oh that was so good!

twoHopes · 03/07/2020 11:49

Since we're here though - if anyone hasn't tried period pants yet then I massively recommend them. I don't get very heavy periods (probably because I'm on the pill) so I just whack them on for 3 days a month (obviously putting fresh ones on every day) and forget about it. No more fiddling for tampons in public loos, no more stained sheets/underwear. They've honestly changed my life.

PurpleHoodie · 03/07/2020 11:49

Oh that was wonderful Flowers

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 03/07/2020 11:50

I cried. I love it.

AntennaReborn · 03/07/2020 11:53

I love this! It's all so relatable and realistic

Ohnoherewego62 · 03/07/2020 11:54

Its amazing! I definitely felt a lump in my throat!

kenandbarbie · 03/07/2020 11:54

Oh wow! That's amazing. I laughed and cried at it. Got the shivers, so moving.

The ups and downs of having a biological woman's body. If there was ever an answer to the question 'what is a woman?' Or 'what does it feel like to be a woman?' that was it!!!

Period pain, anxiety about leakage, using contraception, not wanting and wanting children, infertility followed by childbirth, incontinence, menopause - it's all there!!!!!

AnyFucker · 03/07/2020 11:55

I like the video

I don't like this bit in the blurb beneath though : Along with the campaign, they’re looking for people who experience periods to share their own #wombstories

People who experience periods ? That would be women then.

SunshineOutdoors · 03/07/2020 11:56

Is it better than the tampax one? Even my 8yr old dd shuddered at ‘get em up there, girls!’ Grin

OvaHere · 03/07/2020 11:58

I believe that's Metro editorialising it rather than what Bodyform actually said.

This is the press release

poppym12 · 03/07/2020 11:59

Fabulous. Thanks for the link. Hell, if I hadn't finished my periods I'd be stocking up on Bodyform products!

Dhalmeup · 03/07/2020 11:59

That was fantastic!

It focused purely on female biology, I hope they are ready for the male backlash.

I felt it as more a political feminist statement than an advert.

Deltoids1 · 03/07/2020 12:01

How wonderful! I must write and thank Bodyform

SarahTancredi · 03/07/2020 12:02

Wow..... so good.

whatsthatnow74 · 03/07/2020 12:03

Brilliant ad!

Dhalandchips · 03/07/2020 12:03

Blubbed like a baby! Brilliant!

BatPatsCousin · 03/07/2020 12:03

Powerful stuff.

Wombstories. Love it.

FetchezLaVache · 03/07/2020 12:04

I laughed and cried too. I am seriously considering buying a pack even though I'm devoted to my Mooncup!

McDuffy · 03/07/2020 12:04

Oh phew... I switched to them from Always and was hoping I wasn't going to have to switch again Grin

overweightcat · 03/07/2020 12:06

Wow I might've cried...

Shedbuilder · 03/07/2020 12:06

The Metro has managed to produce a whole article that's entirely about women and women's bodily experience without mentioning the words 'woman' or 'women' once.

Most ads for menstrual products feature someone wearing white trousers

That someone'll be a woman because only women have periods.

Bodyform recently shifted that paradigm with an advert called Viva la Vulva, which celebrated the differences in our genitals in all their glory.

No it didn't, it celebrated female genitals, because it's women who have periods.

And on and on. You can email the journalist who wrote it at

[email protected]

I've already sent her an email asking her why she did that and why she thinks erasing women is a good thing.

Frenchfancy · 03/07/2020 12:06

Wow. Brilliant.
