Awww diddums.

It’s never enough for them.

ErrolTheDragon · 30/06/2020 00:34

Living people can't be sainted, rufus, so you'd have plenty of time to learn Latin (I know the current pope is probably most fluent in Spanish but he must be way older than jkr so Latin's your best bet.) anyway, I'm sure there's someone on this board who could translate for you.

Binglebong · 30/06/2020 00:50

She won't come out to bat for him but only because it will bring more ire down on poor Eddie. Well, she probably won't....Grin

SophocIestheFox · 30/06/2020 06:44

Poor old Eddie. It was all looking so promising, the Danish Girl was your winning card in woke top trumps and then suddenly- BLAM! It wasn’t a sympathetic portrayal that made you an ally, it was appropriative act of near violence that makes you the oppressor. You lose.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha🤣🤣

Maybe in your next role, you could play Robespierre?

NotTerfNorCis · 30/06/2020 07:14

That video shows TW actors who pass very well. But very few TW pass in reality. Are those actors truly representative, or could they be seen as undermining the great majority of TW?

Tootletum · 30/06/2020 07:19

The thing that gets menus that in the last few days, I've seen articles in Forbes and Bloomberg, quite happily going on about JKR's "offensive" tweets. They don't even put any context to it.

OneEndedStick · 30/06/2020 07:20

Oh where's that giggling Shirley Temple gif when I need it?

Nevermind Edward, I'm sure you'll be forgiven and back in with the cool kids if you just identify as such.
Wealthy, white, Woke/Ally-identifying actors are whatever they say they are.

DoIneed1 · 30/06/2020 07:25

Has Eddie made a statement yet?

PumbaasCucumbas · 30/06/2020 07:32

I agree with the point about playing a man for at least half of the film possibly being difficult for a tw actor, while we are talking about everything being literal violence. This might be particularly difficult if you’ve had top surgery or lip fillers etc, especially as none of this was available to lili Elbe.

I would have thought if tw are w they would want women’s roles only?

And does the homophobia comment still apply when straight actors play a gay character and vice versa?

Poor old Eddie now seems to have upset everyone trying to be super woke. I almost feel sorry for him

PermanentCobOn · 30/06/2020 07:35

I think this TW has a very, very good point and I fully support her.

Eddy, what have you got to say on the matter. Is an apology forthcoming anytime soon?

We are waiting Eddy. Wink

PumbaasCucumbas · 30/06/2020 07:36

You see, I’m not even sure if a rada trained, slight and elfin trans actor happy to play a man, would even exist, let alone be an a-list actor to put on the poster/trailers. Representation/diversity in the film issue is another issue, but that isn’t really ERs fault directly either. It’s all about money at the end of the day.

testing987654321 · 30/06/2020 07:38

Can I just reiterate what that person said.

That men who have "been with" transwomen kill them because their mates will think they've been with a man. Because a male acting a transwoman is not presenting as feminine once they aren't acting the role.

That suggests the men who find transwomen attractive are so insecure in their sexuality that they would kill the object of their desire for fear of being thought of as gay.

And the solution to this is to keep up the pretence more convincingly rather than to condemn the male violence?

PumbaasCucumbas · 30/06/2020 07:39

In fact, the easiest option for ER would be to say he actually is a woman, in private, on the third Sunday of every month

CountFosco · 30/06/2020 07:44

@Mumoftwoyoungkids I know! I know! It's 23. Does that mean I can (with no acting experience whatsoever) now star in a oscar winning film about a genius mathematician? Plurrrrease! I'm sure my presence will make it a blockbuster. Everyone loves films with short fat middle-aged female geeks.

Eddie Redmayne got a lot of criticism at the time The Danish Girl came out which is why he is so woke now. Wanker.

SunsetBeetch · 30/06/2020 07:48

Oh dear what a shame never mind.

VortexofBloggery · 30/06/2020 08:00

Will nobody think of the Danes?

nauticant · 30/06/2020 08:01

Have Redmayne actually had any backlash of substance or has it just been some whining posts here and there on social media?

teawamutu · 30/06/2020 08:03

Do they understand what acting is? Fucking ridiculous.

Struggling to find much beyond schadenfreude for Eddie, though. Don't shit on your own doorstep.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/06/2020 08:04

Well - if he is he's certainly shot himself in the foot with his snide comments on JKR, hasn't he?

It hasn't saved him from criticism from the group he was trying to ingratiate himself with.

(I wonder if he'll give his fee to Stonewall . . . )

Pikachubaby · 30/06/2020 08:05

Hope this gains traction Grin

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/06/2020 08:07

Why do trans activists never focus on the actual perpetrators? It seems odd.

Probably because most of the violent acts against TWs are perpetrated by other TWs, Football.

That's not something the TRAs want to publicise for some inexplicable reason.

Penguinsarethebestest · 30/06/2020 08:11

I think she has a really valid point. More effort should be made to find trans actors in trans roles.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/06/2020 08:12

They'd have had a far harder time casting Stephen Hawking than the Danish girl if that was a real criterion, I'd have thought.

I don't know - here I was thinking that ACTING was all about being able to convincingly portray a character who wasn't yourself.

In my innocence I thought that's what ACTORS did.

I am so embarrassed by my naivety.

So - the guy who played Christie in "10 Rillington Place" - how many women did he murder in real life?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/06/2020 08:15

More effort should be made to find trans actors in trans roles.

Oh lease!

It'll end up:

We have to play the trans roles because we are trans

We have to play the women's roles because we are REAL WOMEN

You've put a WOMAN in that woman's role? TRANSPHOBE!!!!!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/06/2020 08:15

*please - not lease

Curse these chubby fingers
