Thought it might be an idea to start a thread for women who support TWAW. I understand ‘Feminism chat’ should also include us and give us our own space?

But we are all feminists

Feminism is a political movement for the emancipation of women from patriarchy. It is specifically concerned with women, who as a sex class are oppressed and exploited on the basis of their reproductive potential. How do you believe that TWAW can be a feminist position?

People are already make huge assumptions about me and my background already, so it feels a little pointless.

Why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself then!

Doyoumind · 28/06/2020 22:43

You haven't presented any kind of reasoning.

What do you say to the TW who think they are male? Are they wrong? Is their lived experience not valid?

bunpot · 28/06/2020 22:44

I've thought about starting a similar thread for a while so appreciate this! Unfortunately those on the other side of the argument are much more vocal. Don't really have anything to say, just voicing my support OP

FloralBunting · 28/06/2020 22:45

Ok, I was a bit harsh. The statement TWAW is very un-feminist from my perspective. But I am interested in hearing a feminist analysis of the idea that concludes it's both true and doesn't materially damage women, because I hear that a lot. Sorry OP. Feel free to state your case. You never know, I might change my mind, it has happened before.

SarahTancredi · 28/06/2020 22:45

Well that was a quick flounce...

PumbaasCucumbas · 28/06/2020 22:46

Could you perhaps define woman then, as a starting point?

Odense · 28/06/2020 22:46

Primogeniture makes me incredibly angry.

If TWAW and and intact male can self id themselves into a prison cell of women then why the fuck don’t TM inherit?

Shows the whole misogynistic shitshow up for what it is.

So you support the concept but can’t formulate an argument?
TheProdigalKittensReturn · 28/06/2020 22:47

What do you mean by give you your own space? Are you asking for a special forum for people who believe that TWAW?

Destroyedpeople · 28/06/2020 22:47

Bunpot. ...support for what exactly?I think everyone should be free to live how they like if it doesn't impinge on other people. ...

Ninkanink · 28/06/2020 22:48
Hmm
RufustheRowlingReindeer · 28/06/2020 22:49

People who think TWAW don’t seem to be very supportive to be honest

There are a stalwart few who engage and support

But lots just pop on...say there is no point....and then bugger off

Well yes, Odense.
I think that is possibly the one issue supported in law that undermines the whole assertion by the trans lobby that humans can change sex.
I would have expected the OP to have an opinion on it. Given that they opened the duscussion.

Show your working, op

Billi77 · 28/06/2020 22:53

I don’t want to divulge too much about my background but am willing to answer questions I feel to be relevant. Am also happy to discuss why I believe TWAW based on personal experience.

But mostly I’m keen to meet feminists online who are trans-inclusive as I have heard a lot from those who are not . Given my RL experience outside of my immediate social circles, this feels massively disproportionate.

I was reading a thread elsewhere earlier on, complaining that anyone taking the TWAW position is invariably shouted down on here, but I’ve honestly never seen anyone come and make a case. They just plop and flounce.

TheSingingKettle49 · 28/06/2020 22:54

Hi OP, you believe TWAW, so can you tell us a bit more about how you came to this view?

Do you you understand why some people don’t hold the view that TWAW?

Thanks Smile

Are you a transwoman, Billi?

bluebluezoo · 28/06/2020 22:56

O/p are you religious

Do you believe in transubstantiation, where the bread and wine is literally turned into the body and blood of christ. If you don’t believe that you aren’t catholic/christian.

If not, why do you believe men can turn into women, and if you don’t believe that you are a transphobe?
