I don't really have any words left:

Tell me it's satire.

He doesnt fit into the very small idea he has of man, so has decided hes a woman. Its again where woman is basically used to mean 'not man'.

I mean hes quite right, the only thing hes even trying to make woman about him is the eyeliner.

Yes absolutely he should be allowed to wear eyeliner/flowy clothes and not be at risk of violence from men, this is absolutely the right of trans people.

But the answer to that isnt womens spaces, hes made no attempt to hide the fact he still has a mans body, and male hormones - does he not realise that once you allow male bodies in these spaces wont be safe anymore? Womens spaces with men in them are just spaces.

Once men are allowed in the toilets? They are just as risky as mens toilets? He aclnowledges the risk men pose. Theres no reason a man wearing eyeliner is any less of a risk than a man. Absolute bs is coming into womens toilets about fear of violence.

Why is Bustle publishing that nonsense? Why not give us a nice eyecandy article about men in guyliner instead. Or the history of pharaos wearing makeup. Yawn.

RedToothBrush · 19/06/2020 12:37

Notice it is the purchasable product that defines womanhood. It is marketing womanhood in product form to women and men with beards.

It's is a sale pitch. An advert. A neoliberalist entity.

Things were so different 5 years ago.

TheChampagneGalop · 19/06/2020 12:40

Ah. Very true.

ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings · 19/06/2020 12:44

I read as far as "some people accuse me of cherry picking the fun bits of being a woman whilst still enjoying male privaledge" and that was enough. You got it in one mate, no more words needed.

TheChampagneGalop · 19/06/2020 12:45

Meant as a reply to RedToothbrush.
OldCrone Hmm wouldn't marketing eyeliner to men as well create a larger consumer base than to make it a symbol of womanhood?

SophocIestheFox · 19/06/2020 12:52

Look at me, look at me, LOOK AT ME!!!

Why are you staring at me??

What on earth does this person mean by “making no effort to pass as cis”? Think the stubble on the manly chin is a bit of a giveaway there, mate. Or do they mean “pass as a cis woman”? Confused

Dunno why I’m bothering, really, this is a patent nonsense and all the make up wearing boyfriends of my youth would laugh at this silly attention seeking, on their way to pee safely in the men’s bogs.

FishAreAcquaintancesNotFood · 19/06/2020 12:55

You know I don't want to be the sort of person who spends their life permanently offended. So on this occasion, I choose to laugh my arse off. It's the only acceptable response to this article. I mean, BUstle has always been shit but this gaslighting pile of wank deserves nothing but a proper fucking guffaw.

Can someone please PLEASE share this with John Cleese, I would but I don't do Twitter though I'm so sad right now that I don't. :(

FishAreAcquaintancesNotFood · 19/06/2020 12:58

Does the eyeliner make him queer or does the eyeliner make his heterosexual relationship queer? I'm confused on that.

The fact that he is a fucking DJ though and will have a wife at home looking after the kid all night and probably working to feed them all day seems pretty usual though.

OldCrone · 19/06/2020 13:00

What on earth does this person mean by “making no effort to pass as cis”?

No idea. He passes very well as a 'cis' man.

fuckinghellapeacock · 19/06/2020 13:02

DH was wearing eyeliner when I met him. Does this make me a lesbian? Confusing times indeed.

Enderthedragon · 19/06/2020 13:05

Oh my god, it's a bloke wearing eyeliner - we've literally never seen this before! Talk about smashing boundaries! How stunning, how brave! And a male, in a relationship with a female, how very queer.

Also, what the hell is a non-binary transwoman?

Baaaahhhhh · 19/06/2020 13:09

Wow. Obviously thousands of young men were therefore "women" in the 80's.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 19/06/2020 13:11

He can wear what he likes, but it has nothing to do with women or womanhood. His issue is with masculinity, and that's where pressure could usefully be applied if he really wanted to challenge society and make some constructive changes.

terryleather · 19/06/2020 13:13

As time goes on I realise that so much of this is people just talking past each other - by that I mean that the way certain groups see the world and frame their understanding of it is so so different that there seems no way to begin to understand each other.

I read any of the genderist/PoMo/IdPol/Queer stuff and I just don't recognise the world they live in.

Even taking into account that I'm middle aged and since forever the middle aged have rolled their eyes at the ways of the youngsters and vice versa, I just find this word view incomprehensible.

QuentinWinters · 19/06/2020 13:19

I feel sorry for them, that the logic is "I must be a woman!" Rather than "why can't I be the person I want to be and express myself how I like?" Poor person.

DuDuDuLangaLangaBingBong · 19/06/2020 13:19

How does that work, when someone as masculine-man as Mike Ness has been wearing eyeliner for decades?

So bored of all this regressive bullshit.

There we have it. Succinct and profound,
Collidascope · 19/06/2020 13:30

Oh, the pretentiousness.
Imagine being this guy's "cisgender" partner who grew and birthed their child and will no doubt take the financial hit, but he's wanking on about being an oppressed non-binary trans woman.

Jocasta2018 · 19/06/2020 13:34

I've dated/lived with goth boyfriends therefore I've unknowingly been shagging women when I thought I was shagging a bloke....
If he wants to grasp his feminine side then grab away but make up doesn't define a woman.

terryleather · 19/06/2020 13:35

Yup Red as ever makes an excellent point, but it's not just womanhood that's marketable

As so many of these identities are not based in material reality how is one to express these identities - by spending money on a gold lame pocket book/eyeliner/hormones/body mods etc etc etc ka-ching ka-ching ka-ching

Deliriumoftheendless · 19/06/2020 13:37

None of that happened! It’s all fake! This generation are the first to do this! Those memories of men in male up from the 80s are fake! Implanted by Right Wing Christians from the US like some kind of Cis Manchurian Candidate! Why are you repeating these lies?????!!!!!

Deliriumoftheendless · 19/06/2020 13:37

Male up? Make up obviously (or is it part of the brainwashing????)

Gwynfluff · 19/06/2020 13:53

I’ve never mastered eyeliner - am I a woman?
