Threats from transactivists in Ireland.

Just getting it out there that transactivists in Ireland have been making threats to any woman who has wanted to discuss the effect self-id is having on women's rights in Ireland. If anyone Irish is reading, you need to be aware. If you support these people, you need to know what you're supporting, and if not, you need to be aware of the threats that are being made. One of these people works for TENI and has spoken at a National Council for Women in Ireland conference.

I'm a little more optimistic. This is a clear indication that the gender identity ideology contains little more than compelling people to think and say only certain things. A moment's thought raises the question "but if women's bodies are different to transwomen's bodies, what exactly is wrong with the book?" I'm hoping it will lead to a number of the people involved in this becoming aware of the cognitative dissonance this causes, and for this to plant a seed of doubt.

The vast majority of people are unaware that self ID was introduced in 2015. People have no idea of the impact of this on women's rights. It is completely ignored in Irish media.
The statement by that group Women in STEM which centered transwomen's feelings in a book discussion about "Invisible Women" is just typical of this ideology. The reaction on Twitter shows that people are not in agreement with this. But the laws are already in place and I can't see the current government doing an to change this.

@Dances

Men in dresses have always ruled Ireland. It was always dangerous to challenge them or their ideology, which was in turn, fiercely defended by women.
I love this Dances- I think you may have posted similar before. I will quote you in RL .

Yep not only that but TENI (Trans Equality Network Ireland) have released their 3 year strategic plan. They want to get into schools and they want to bring in hate crime legislation.

I'm so sad reading all this, I admit I wasn't fully aware of how things went down in Ireland. I realise it's bad but there must be something that can be done.

Is there anything we can do for our sisters in Ireland, aside from support here?

Maybe there will be a legal challenge at some point. I do think sometimes it will get worse before it gets better. I don't know enough about the political structures and processes to come up with any ideas.

Do posters here have real life groups there you can join?

When my daughter starts school, if I ever get a hint of Mermaids-style gender bollocks being taught to her I will hit the bloody roof.

Have they? That's interesting. I would be interested to find out what is contained in their materials and school guidance packs etc.

Specially when you consider the only gender clinic in Ireland in Crumlin is run by the London Tavistock, and the worrying reports coming from them. I don't think any school would like to throw in their lot just as the problems witg the ideology are becoming apparent, they would want to follow actual best practise for their gender confused pupils.

I go to the PTA meetings anyway so I will continue to do so, and keep an eye on any proposals that contradict settled science or goes against what we know of normal child development stages. Though our school is very sensible and compassionate and not easily swayed by whatever the latest big thing is.

I would have said the same thing about one of my DC's school.
And yet, during Pride last year, there was a talk by a transgender woman (all-boys school). No talk by a gay man. No counterbalancing talk from a XX woman.
