Just seen this on Twitter.

For those who like their Ginger Shampoo, can I suggest MooGoo.

Also, Aveeno is a good replacement for their Shea butter.

Other thoughts welcome. Feel free to suggest other ideas.

Awful. Just awful. Haven’t bought from there since Anita Roddick sold it, but no way will I buy from there in the future.

@Katypyee

Gross bullying of J.K Rowling? Seriously?! How about gross bullying of trans people?! JKR should educate herself and so should some of you by the sounds of things.

For all of you who say MN isn't transphobic, you all need to go take a good hard long look at yourselves.

Oh yes, that’s the death threats, insults, threats to her people fired/blacklisted, shutting down debate and refusal to discuss, blocking anti FGM legislation, emotional blackmail...
stella47 · 10/06/2020 21:06

"They're no Yorkshire Tea" :) Thank you, this made me laugh. I'm so furious though, with so many people.

I will also ask - when and where has JK Rowling bullied trans people? I won't hold my breath for an answer, though...
Lordfrontpaw · 10/06/2020 21:07

What did Yorkshire tea do?

PrincessConsuelaVaginaHammock · 10/06/2020 21:08

I come down firmly on JK's side, but this is her being hoist by her own petard, the vocal left eating itself.

Let us not pretend there was any way of a prominent woman who dared to say anything remotely gender critical avoiding any of this, though. The response still would've been the same if she'd never said anything to anyone before now.

For all of you who say MN isn't transphobic, you all need to go take a good hard long look at yourselves.

You must be new round these parts to imagine that post is going to result in anything more than people laughing at you.

Body Shop had only regained me as a customer a couple of years ago after they parted company with L’Oreal but I won’t be spending any more money in there.

Soontobe60 · 10/06/2020 21:11

Just coming on to post this too! twitter.com/thebodyshop/status/1270773993109434373?s=21
They’ve got this sooooo wrong!

undecidedforever2020 · 10/06/2020 21:11

Oh noooo I love their banana shampoo and bubble bath Sad

Willow2017 · 10/06/2020 21:12

And the net tightens that little bit more around the transphobes.

Stating biological facts isn't transphobic. Did you even read what JKR actually said or are you just following crowd to be seen to be sooooo much more clever than the rest of us? Misogyny is abhorrent no matter if the man claims to 'be a woman' or not.

I am a woman i dont need a man nor a transperson to tell me what i am nor re-define me thank you.

Good for them for not being closeminded
Closeminded? Since when has biological facts been wrong? Online bullying of a single female is nothing to be proud of. Its like joining the 'in criwd'at school and joining in the bullying to get yourself off the target list. Pathetic behaviour for a company so eager to be seen to support WOMEN.

Oxyiz · 10/06/2020 21:12

Shit. I actually liked some of their products, and I have a nightmare with finding things I like.

But fuck them heartily for this bizarre attempt at wokeness right after a woman posts about her abuse.

And fuck anyone here who effectively says that she deserved it, what's wrong with you?

Lordfrontpaw · 10/06/2020 21:13

Me too - I was a customer since the mid 80s then stoped when they were bought by L’Oréal (who have reverse weaseld so they are on the nononononoNO list). Was Lush but stopped when they died DS blue and I got glitter in my undercarriage (and the anti police/ogre promos). Went back to BS - well they can now just all fuck right off.

They claim to be supporting victims of domestic violence. Yet they join in bullying one.

YogaNChocolate · 10/06/2020 21:13

They’ve got it badly wrong. I won’t be buying from them again.

listsandbudgets · 10/06/2020 21:14

What no dream cream :(

Foggyday124 · 10/06/2020 21:15

All my Xmas presents last year were from the Body Shop. Fuck them, I’m spending elsewhere. Women have periods and women have been subjected to all sorts in history for being women. Everyone else can call themselves and do what they want, but they won’t be women unless they are women.

Signalbox · 10/06/2020 21:17

It would be better for some to realise IDPOL is the issue, but they will ignore all that and pretend it is because she is a successful woman one day whilst railing on twitter the next about straight white males without any sense of irony

Quite right. Identity politics is like a runaway train atm. It will destroy the left eventually.

TheGreatWave · 10/06/2020 21:18

The bag says 'it's bloody natural' which I took to mean that being trans is natural.

I thought that too.

I buy very little from the Body Shop, I just need to make sure that DH doesn't get any presents for me from there.

Bullying isn't ok anywhere by anyone. Bullying Rowling isn't okay. Bullyng trans people with ignorant inflammatory blindsiding as per the many comments made in feminism chat on mumsnet isn't okay either.

SisyphusLangClegRocks · 10/06/2020 21:20

Sorry - wrong post. I've reported it.

Ninkanink · 10/06/2020 21:21

Arrogant, male supremacist, misogynist Company.

I went from a multiple times a month shopper at M&S to absolutely nothing overnight when they threw women and girls to the wolves last year and openly told us we had to be okay with men in the lingerie and bra fitting changing rooms, that we should suck it up or fuck off if we didn’t like it. Haven’t missed them (and their open contempt for women and their complete disregard for the protection of women’s rights and safeguarding of vulnerable women and girls) one single bit, and will never go back. Same with John Lewis/Waitrose for their stance.

I don’t shop much at Body shop anymore, haven’t in years except for the odd body butter here and there, but you had better believe I’ll never ever set foot in one of your shops again. You’ve told me to fuck off, so I will. As will my two daughters who are young women now, and other female members of my family and that of my DH.

I know how to keep a boycott going, too. Go woke, go broke.

Btw, I’m going to get another shitload of Arla products in my next shop, just to thank them again!!

DidoLamenting · 10/06/2020 21:23

Superdrug do some really nice own brand beauty products. I love their coconut shampoo and their stuff is so much cheaper

Don't take this as gospel but I think Superdrug own brand products are ethical so far as animal testing.

Pepperwort · 10/06/2020 21:24

Oh well. They haven't got anything so transformatory I can't replace it elsewhere. I'm not giving money to people who think rapists can turn into women magically overnight and be housed with biological women, or that girls' and women's feelings just aren't as important as men's.

Oncewasblueandyellowtwo · 10/06/2020 21:24

@Cismyfatarse

Do you know how the world "moves on"? It is women, with wombs, growing new people to continue human progress.

That is how the world moves on.

As it ever was and will be.

I do buy from the body shop, have for years since the 90's like a pp said. Not anymore. That tweet was was horrible.
You'd think metoo never happened.
