Just seen this on Twitter.

For those who like their Ginger Shampoo, can I suggest MooGoo.

Also, Aveeno is a good replacement for their Shea butter.

Other thoughts welcome. Feel free to suggest other ideas.

@TheWayOfTheWorld
Wow... well I'm not surprised. I don't remember the group numbers... I thought it was around 30k at the time of the Kits? Anyway even that is too much. They've actually done me a bit of a favour by kicking me out because there were just too many posts and it was hard to sift through everything. As someone who's been following CH for years I see the same questions thousands of times... now I don't have that clogging up my Facebook feed anymore, it's nice. lol
The mob mentality on there is scary - especially when they're set on bullying someone online due to CH calling them out. I agree with her on most things, just not calling out private citizens on your Instagram when you have 400k+ followers.
The reddit is called Skincare Addiction, it requires a bit more effort to get through but there is a lot of information available. :)

@AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken The sad thing is is that this behaviour is turning people away from their cause, and they are going to continue to receive backlash. I feel sorry for the trans folk who never asked for these "activists" (who are not actually trans themselves) to speak for them in such a way. It's certainly turned me off.

Anyways... less time on skincare groups, more time fighting for BLM and racial equality!

Body Shop has been exploiting women since 1994 when Body Shop first set up its multilevel
Marketing business, using a business model that targets women and manipulates them to monetise their friendships, pays them virtually nothing and then passes the money of those who can least afford it up the pyramid to the men at the top; it’s highly exploitative and should confirm to people everything they’ve ever suspected about what BS thinks of us.

It’s just cynical big business dressed up as caring and woke. I won’t touch BS products and haven’t for years because of this contradiction.

womanaf · 13/06/2020 22:49

Oh the irony...

The Body Shop has fallen
YouokHun · 13/06/2020 22:51

justasking111 - Looking on twitter apparently their sister company Avon when a customer tried to complain automatic message said they would not be handling anything until July 1st . They also retweeted all Body Shop nasty stuff about JKR. So if you are dumping Body Shop tell everyone to also dump Avon

Avon is also MLM and is exploitative in the same way as Body Shop at Home. Avon also has a poor record on the cruelty front so if you were buying BS for cruelty free you’re also propping up the decidedly cruel Avon. The company who owns both brands is Brazilian company called Natura - I wonder what they’re thinking.

JamieLeeCurtains · 13/06/2020 22:51

Won't men and transwomen be 'non menstruators', along with non-binary people who also are or used to be male?

Isn't this where such thinking is leading?

Lordfrontpaw · 13/06/2020 23:33

I was wondering what Anita Rodicks daughters think about this.

acatcalledjohn · 14/06/2020 03:31

So the Girls Shout Out project. Does the "safe space online" mean that this will be natal females only? The entire project page uses the word gender where, really, it should say sex.

TBHno · 14/06/2020 03:45

I don't get this. If trans women are women, then why are they deleting the word "woman"? Confused

JemimaShore · 14/06/2020 06:39

Because they know they can't gat away with the word 'woman" - because transwomen don't and can't ever menstruate.

JemimaShore · 14/06/2020 06:42

You'd be forgiven for thinking TW may be quite relieved NOT to menstruate - after all, most of us boring natal women would happily forgo the monthly visits - but alas, women having periods is considered some kind of 'prvilege'in TRA circles, and thus bio women are asked not to mention it.

Seems legit to me, and not at all the erasure of women.

jakeyboy1 · 14/06/2020 11:54

That email!

"End the shame and stigma around periods" yes most of get over that by the time we are about 20. Until then girls are just getting used to their bodies. Not sure we need a retailer who doesn't even sell sanitary ware to deal with this one.

I just don't understand how a brand can ever think this is an acceptable way to treat their customers and how can they get away with it? I do wonder if in part they just want to whip it up whilst there are other issues going on and thought they'd get away with it. I hope they get hit where it hurts on the bottom line.

Lordfrontpaw · 14/06/2020 15:53

Anyone use Faith in Nature?

Lordamighty · 14/06/2020 16:37

The only product I use from the BS is a facial SPF50 sun cream called Skin Defence, if anyone can recommend an alternative I would be much obliged.
I hardly think they will miss my business but every little helps as they say in marketing advertising.

Sexnotgender · 14/06/2020 16:40

Faith in nature is ok, I’ve only used their conditioner but it was good.

MrsKingfisher · 14/06/2020 17:09

KinKind shampoo bars are bloody lovely, I've also used the Faith in nature coconut it's ok not my favourite.

MrsKingfisher · 14/06/2020 17:11

Thank you Farmer do a nice spf in a blue bottle. Also Heliocare but I found it hit and miss with finding a suitable one for me.

Ritascornershop · 14/06/2020 18:03

I’ve used their aloe face cream twice a day for over 30 years, never again.

Can anyone recommend a cruelty free face cream for very sensitive skin (no retinol, my face hates that)? I loved the aloe cream, damn them.

SirVixofVixHall · 14/06/2020 18:50

Rita Dr Hauschka rose day cream , not cheap, but really good.

Lordfrontpaw · 14/06/2020 19:46

I use Korres - I haven’t dared to look to see if they are spouting nonsense.

MrsJamin · 14/06/2020 19:50

Really really considering sending them a bottle I have of one of their products, just so they'd have to accept it, pay the due postage and open it. I don't want to use any of the remaining product and I want them to know about it.

YgritteSnow · 14/06/2020 19:50

I was wondering what Anita Rodicks daughters think about this.

I was at school with one of them and met Anita and the family many times, even stayed at their house. I fear one of them at least would be very much TWAW.

Lordfrontpaw · 14/06/2020 19:52

The one who makes silly knickers?

QueSera · 14/06/2020 20:15

Ok, Body Shop well and truly off my shopping radar now. (Avon too but I never shopped there.) I have been such a loyal Body Shop customer ever since I first had my own money to spend on such things back in the 1990s. Moisturisers of all kinds, body butters, shower gels, shampoos & conditioners, deodorants, perfumes, tons of makeup, body buffers, nail stuff, men's stuff, gift packages, etc etc, the list goes on.
Oh well, just so sad that they ended up being rampant misogynists. Bye bye Body Shop.

Ritascornershop · 14/06/2020 20:31

Thanks @SirVixofVixHall I’ll see if I can find it locally.

SocialConnection · 15/06/2020 00:25

The vast majority of responses to the Body Shop tweet are condemning it.
