The Body Shop has fallen

Just seen this on Twitter.

For those who like their Ginger Shampoo, can I suggest MooGoo.

Also, Aveeno is a good replacement for their Shea butter.

Other thoughts welcome. Feel free to suggest other ideas.

That body shop reply is so depressing. Just awful

Lordfrontpaw · 13/06/2020 19:19

And you just can’t get a hold of anyone there right now. I wonder why?

TheWayOfTheWorld · 13/06/2020 19:26

@PhreshOffTheRunway the pile on was disgraceful and I'm sorry I was too much of a coward - I kept typing a response and then hesitating, I was trying to find the collection of vile responses (you know, the usual "suck my lady dick", "die in a fire TERF") to put up their pipe to smoke. But NONE of them ever say anything against this hate - how are we the ones hating, we are always too polite and understanding, I don't see trans people or their chums being threatened with violence, rape and death - the common tools of oppression used by violent men against women 🤔

TheWayOfTheWorld · 13/06/2020 19:29

@PhreshOffTheRunway - wait, you WERE thrown out of the group for objecting to the misogyny and patronising tone of TBS post? FFS.

All this nonsense about "educate yourself" - that's what we have been doing and why we object to what is going on.

1WildTeaParty · 13/06/2020 19:30

Thanks for the suggested replacement products OP. I'll try Aveeno

Lordfrontpaw · 13/06/2020 19:37

I’m going to have to tell DH as he likes their shampoo.

Funnily enough DS found a bar of their soap in the bathroom yesterday and said ‘oh I like this - can you get some more?’ I said ‘nope - no more Body Shop...’

PicsInRed · 13/06/2020 19:46

"Menstruators"

The body shop can fuck right off.

LazyFace · 13/06/2020 19:55

Fucking hell. Most of my products are from Body Shop. Will have to look somewhere else pretty soon. Luckily this came out before I've done my big online shopping.
Menstruators.... ffs

MrsKypp · 13/06/2020 19:56

Dr Hauschka stuff is nice, and so is La Roche Posay.

I didn't even manage to read half the responses it came so fast! I deleted the post because I didn't want to be doxxed or threatened, and I didn't think it would create such a massive drama. I figured people would agree that TBS was being a dick and carry on.

I suppose being against misogyny is hate speech now so I was booted without an explanation.

PhreshOffTheRunway · 13/06/2020 20:14

@TheWayOfTheWorld
Don't worry, you weren't a coward. There was no point in trying to have a discussion because people were bandwagoning.
I did actually wonder if I was being a transphobe so I followed a link that someone posted to a Twitter response to JK's essay. Surprise, it was a man responding to her.
I ended up spending 2 days reading about everything and finding a gender critical feminist reddit page... (reddit also has a good skincare community that's a bit more science-based) and now I have my own opinion haha.

I support trans people's rights to live free and without fear, but I don't support misogyny or the erasure of sex. On that I agree with @Icantreachthepretzels's great post on gender and sex.

YourVagesty · 13/06/2020 20:15

I've tried to leave reviews for the beard oil and for some other random item. Neither is showing up. I reckon they've started moderating.

Nice work my fellow menstruators!

just5morepeas · 13/06/2020 20:23

Damn it. Looks like I need a new place to buy tea tree moisturiser and Xmas gift sets!

bluefoxmug · 13/06/2020 20:25

dr organics from holland&barrets have a great tea tree range.

just5morepeas · 13/06/2020 20:26

Thanks! I'll check that out.

I do this all the time. I’ve lost friends in the last week because I’ve politely responded to their “all TERFs can die” stuff. I really have listened to their opinions. In the past, I’ve even tried to side with them. It’s such an easier side to be on. I just can’t do it though. I’ve not read anything that placates my fears of misogyny or makes me think women aren’t being silenced and removed from the conversation about their own rights and oppression.
It’s as if I’m in the matrix and I’ve chosen the pill to make me unaware of reality, but it’s a placebo and I’m still completely switched on to the truth.

colouringindoors · 13/06/2020 21:02

Go onto their site and search for "Women" then do the same for "Men"

TheWayOfTheWorld · 13/06/2020 21:06

@PhreshOffTheRunway it definitely has become a bit of echo chamber there. I've also just noticed that it is now at 45k members - was only 10k a few weeks ago when the Spring kits came out. Where have all those people come from?

Interested in the reddit group as I'm not interested in participating in the CH one anymore, that shuts down women's voices. On TBS recs thread someone said they didn't recommend anything due to their response to JKR, someone asked why and she replied it was a bit controversial but to have a read round. CH herself came on to say it wasn't controversial, quote:

" Actually the tweet was sent well before she put that story up. Check the timeline. And this isn’t a ‘controversial debate’. To be clear: this is a trans friendly and Body Shop - supporting group. That’s all." But clearly one which is happy to shut down women who object to misogyny.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 13/06/2020 21:08

DH wants to ask, if the sex-class-formerly-known-as-women are now to be known as 'menstruators', does that mean that the sex-class-mostly-still-known-as-men should be called 'ejaculators'?

Standrewsschool · 13/06/2020 21:41

Apparently, Bodyshop sell ‘Cruelty-free’ skincare!

Shock it’s all just men stuff coming up!
colouringindoors · 13/06/2020 22:09

They have literally erased women from their website ShockShockShock

MrsKingfisher · 13/06/2020 22:35

I'm so bloody angry about this and Caroline Hirons is nothing more than a self righteous virtue signalling self important trout.

I left her 'cult' when she tweeted about JK, for someone who says she all about science she clearly needs to brush up on it because I'm pretty sure biologically only women and girls can menstruate.

justasking111 · 13/06/2020 22:40

Looking on twitter apparently their sister company Avon when a customer tried to complain automatic message said they would not be handling anything until July 1st . They also retweeted all Body Shop nasty stuff about JKR. So if you are dumping Body Shop tell everyone to also dump Avon.
