Just seen this on Twitter.

For those who like their Ginger Shampoo, can I suggest MooGoo.

Also, Aveeno is a good replacement for their Shea butter.

Other thoughts welcome. Feel free to suggest other ideas.

Looks like L'Oreal sold it to a Brazilian firm a couple of years ago. They own Avon as well. I can't believe these companies think their target consumers are transactivists not women.

ProfessorPootle · 11/06/2020 11:56

@AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken

I’ve just requested all my personal details be removed from their system as I no longer wish to be a customer of theirs. They didn’t ask why. They complied with my request. I thanked them politely with the sign off wishing them well with their public misogyny and harassment, bullying and shaming of women who dare to speak out in defence of their sex based rights. They ask for my address, date of birth, etc. Now I’m paranoid about the doxxing mentioned by a PP. This is just 0.5% of the fear put on JK.
I need to do this, I don’t want to be on their mailing lists or have an online account with them anymore. Did you do this via your online account? Or email?
YogaNChocolate · 11/06/2020 12:07

I would have thought the only people who shop in BS these days are those of us who are female and old enough to remember bath pearls, Dewberry perfume oil & kiwi lip balm ie. Before It Was Shit.

Well done on alienating them, guys! Great job!

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 11/06/2020 12:10

ProfessorPootle

I did it on their live chat so it was immediate

Lordfrontpaw · 11/06/2020 12:23

I’ve just requested all my personal details be removed from their system as I no longer wish to be a customer of theirs.

This is your 'right to be forgotten' (identifiable details permanently deleted) - you also have the right to ask - under GDPR rules to have access to all the information they hold on you. I tend to do both when companies worry me.

They have no reason to hold your details is you are no longer a customer, nor have anything like insurance or a subscription with them.

It also can't hurt to put in writing that you are keeping records of all details that have been held by the business - should there be any 'incidents' or behaviour that would cause you to suspect the details hadn't been permanently deleted or had been copied/stolen/used.

LittlePearl · 11/06/2020 12:25

I have emailed their CEO.

They're cowardly and despicable.

Lordfrontpaw · 11/06/2020 12:32

It seems very much to be the main account rather than the UK one.

Although they seem to have tried to be 'neutral' and not too rainbow, they have, for example, used wording about 'people who have periods' that have been cut and pasted from an online petition, and do work with the Bloody-Good-Period folx.

The UK one has not attempted to address this, not the comments under their posts about domestic violence.

I thought they were better than this, but I guess I was wrong. I have contacted them to ask about is and expect to hear nothing back or get the JohnLewis Response 'we love all - not piss off woman, we won't speak to you further'.

HappyMealWithLegs · 11/06/2020 12:48

I haven't been a fan of the body shop for ages, but I did used to buy their chamomile cleansing butter and the coconut perfume. I will not buy from them anymore. I have lots of nieces who I used to buy for from there. I won't be doing that either.

Shame they can't actually recognise who buys their naff overpriced products.

Doyoumind · 11/06/2020 12:52

The fact that the UK account hasn't addressed it at all is a PR fuck up. Either they back up the US tweet or distance themselves from it but they can't ignore it. Whoever is leading their marketing and communications needs to sort it or look for a new job.

Lordfrontpaw · 11/06/2020 13:09

Different teams - sometimes different remits. Still, if that's what the Head Office/International team are playing at then it shows the UK team have been 'playing nice'. Or playing us for fools perhaps?

The Lush US marketing is waaayy more wokey than here (if you can believe that).

Here is the CEO's email address

If you want to see how bad it is, then the comments on the TBS Facebook page are incredible. I just cannot get my head around the nonsense some people spout. Men with men's genitalia spouting trash and women also spouting it and defending them. I am so incredibly tired of this nonsense. I will never buy another product from any of these women hating companies.

Lordfrontpaw · 11/06/2020 16:43

TSB - the bank? Anyway - are you lot trying to chat to the body shop? The estimated wait time is stupidly long and not moving. I need to ask them something.

justasking111 · 11/06/2020 16:45

What is wicked is the Body Shop is a franchise. Something like this which the franchisee has no control over is hurting their business. So irresponsible.

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 11/06/2020 16:47

Grin oops TBS sorry!

justasking111 · 11/06/2020 16:49

Natura and co own body shop and avon apparently. Maybe that is why the UK arm is silent.

#standwithjkrowling back off you hyenas. Misogyny dressed up as righteousness stinks. No Body Shop products henceforth for me either.

Oooh I’ve always liked her
Lordfrontpaw · 11/06/2020 17:06

hyenas - better than weasels I suppose (more ugly but I just like the sound of the word 'weasels')

Thinkingabout1t · 11/06/2020 17:23

Damn. I've shopped at Body Shop for decades. I've stayed with them out of habit and loyalty really. There are plenty of ethical alternatives now. Even Superdrug and M&S now do cruelty-free toiletries.

So, to hell with Body Shop's hypocrisy, it's time I tried some of the others. I'll unsubscribe from their marketing emails too. Why do companies that rely on women's money think it's ok to put us down?

Lordfrontpaw · 11/06/2020 17:28

Has anyone heard from them? Their online customer services appear to be outsourced to a 3rd party so done expect much from them. Although that does raise an interesting GDPR question...

acatcalledjohn · 11/06/2020 18:10

I have emailed them to close my account and remove all my details, and why.

I wonder how long it will take them to reply.

Wishingstarr · 11/06/2020 18:17

Another teenage memory binned. Loved Dewberry and White Musk perfume when I was young and despite it becoming corporate I still had relatively good vibes from The Body Shop and would definitely buy products as gifts, especially for my husband.

This is everything Anita Roddick was against.

Never again.

BOYCOTT The Body Shop.

Snorkers · 11/06/2020 18:38

Next the Body Shop will be telling us to PUT THE LOTION IN THE BASKET
