JK has never belittled trans-people quite the opposite in fact if you even bothered to read her tweets.

Gender is the stereotype that women like pink and skirts, and men like cars and blue.

Sex is the actual differences between males and females. The differences between their chromosomes, genitals, and the differences which become more apparent as we grow: average height, strength, ability to produce small or large gametes.

You cannot change your sex, and women and girls deserve dignity in having their own spaces and rights. Women cannot rape, they do not have a penis.
That does not mean that they are men without penises, a penectomy does not turn a man into a woman.

Is that simple enough for you, @Seasidetrains?

You seem to be confused about the difference between sex and gender. You’re conflating the two. Perhaps have a little read up and then return.

lol i know the difference between sex and gender thanks. i'm pointing out that referring only to sex is not, as far as i can see, a very useful way of defining a person.

Several family members who use body shop will never countenance the idea again! I am relieved in the sense that I never liked the perfume one of them wore.

most of my opinions on this topic have come from feeling my own gender identitiy evolve as i get older, and also from having kids and seeing how poorly the characteristics of 'male' and 'female' describe people in all their complexity.

All of us who are GC would agree that male & female characteristics do not define people in their entirety. Sex does, however, determine many of our life experiences, both biological ones (pregnancy etc) and social. A girl cannot escape FGM or forced marriage by identifying as male.

Won't be buying stuff from there again then.
