And yet #IStandWithJKRowling still does not seem to be trending.

Sahbear you can read it on Twitter.
Thank you JKR Flowers

popehilarious · 10/06/2020 18:46

Is it weird that I'm clicking around FB hoping that someone will have shared it?

StealthPolarBear · 10/06/2020 18:53

Excellent writing but I fear it will make no difference

TooOldForSims · 10/06/2020 18:55

@StealthPolarBear

Excellent writing but I fear it will make no difference
The Facebook comments are still full of people telling her to STFU, calling her a bigot and that what she wrote was erasing trans people, despite the fact she discussed knowing and being friends with trans people. So you're probably right sadly.
IHateCoronavirus · 10/06/2020 18:56

Flowers for you Joanne

Daniel Radcliffe, Evanna Lynch and Eddie Redmayne, here are your woke cookies BiscuitBiscuitBiscuit enjoy!

This is a totally brilliant piece of writing which sums up up so well the trans minefield.

She really is amazing ❤

Bearsinmotion · 10/06/2020 18:58

I wonder if this will be picked up by the BBC, or if they will wait until a man responds to it...

theseriousmoonlight · 10/06/2020 18:58

I've just emailed her so thank you to the pp for posting the link.

I'm pleased that she turned the comments off for the blog tweet. What I have seen in the comments on her previous tweets is truly horrific.

I can't get over how eloquent, reasonable and calm the whole piece is. I mean, I know she's a writer, but man she's bloody good!

I'm sure those desperate to be offended will find something to get their knickers in a twist about but I for one fail to see how anyone could read any hate in what she's said.

Chipsahoy · 10/06/2020 19:04

Wow!

refusetobeasheep · 10/06/2020 19:09

wow indeed. i have emailed my profound thanks to JKR.

refusetobeasheep · 10/06/2020 19:12

just shared on FB. Between JKR and Posie earlier, I can no longer stand by

theseriousmoonlight · 10/06/2020 19:18

@refusetobeasheep Posie's video was awesome! Another warrior.

Also @MForstater, thank you for speaking up for women.

GrouchyKiwi · 10/06/2020 19:22

Thank you, Jo. Thank you, Maya. Thank you all you wonderful, brave women who are risking so much speaking up and speaking out.

All the Flowers and thanks in the world.

summerblues · 10/06/2020 19:25

It's really sad how much I want to share this with people but can't or I would likely lose my job and probably alot of friends.

Thank you Joanne Flowers

exwhyzed · 10/06/2020 19:31

She clearly walks amongst us Grin I am in no doubt.

Thanks Joanne. I will be honoured to read Harry Potter to my two girls as they get older. I enjoyed them so much as a teen myself.

You are very right about 'TERF' bringing young women into feminism in a way not seen for a few decades.

Flowers to you and to your daughter. Your bravery encourages all of us to be that little bit braver every day, even if we can't put our heads above the parapet right away, we will find a way and hopefully deal with the mess created by others, like women so often have to do.

Madhairday · 10/06/2020 19:39

Amazing, courageous, wonderful woman. Flowers

refusetobeasheep · 10/06/2020 19:44

So, having posted JKR's blog in FB I am getting my first likes and a clear route to knowing who is worth keeping in my FB timeline!

FruitPastillesaregood · 10/06/2020 19:45

What a well written, excellent piece she has written. I really admire her.

StarStarTeachMe · 10/06/2020 19:46

As a mother of an autistic daughter, I am so grateful to JKR for speaking out. Thank you, Jo.

overworkedandstressed · 10/06/2020 19:52

Fabulous piece of writing that will be shared on my facebook. I love that woman. JK Rowling is truly amazing

BadMoon · 10/06/2020 19:53

I love her - she is my absolute hero. This whole thing has made me feel so emotional; horribly upset for JK and furious at the injustice of this. I understand that trans people are marginalised and struggle - but what about bloody women? We are half the population and I don't know a single woman who hasn't experienced some kind of violence or intimidation by men. The evidence of women's oppression around the globe is there for all to see. How can a tiny minority get to dictate our language and right to define and protect ourselves? Thank you JK ❤️

Flapjak · 10/06/2020 19:54

A written piece of perfection...
Disappointingly another man 'Eddie Redmayne' has come out with the trope trans women are women, completely ignoring the fact that biological sex not only exists but that he is a male not because he identifies as one but because he was born one.

FinallyHere · 10/06/2020 19:58

Perfection

Elsewhere on MN there is an address for JK, care of her publishers. I have taken their advice and sent her a physical card. I love the idea of the publishers being inundated with cards of support.
