I'm 100% on jkr's side, but can see her position and ability to state whatever she likes without fear of eg losing her job is advantageous.

The difference between DR and JK Rowling is that SHE will always have talent and imagination, whereas he’s a little sludge of mediocrity who benefited from nepotism to get where he is.

I don't think that the Times readers were always gc. Initially they were "Hah, this is what you asked for feminists" and "a plague on both their houses".
But as the bullying and intimidation of the trans ideology has been exposed by some excellent journalism, alongside the outrageous demands about transitioning children and girls and women must accept men in their changing rooms, sports, refuges etc, their tone has changed dramatically. Fair cop helped and aided by some great posts by many women below the line, they've shifted dramatically.
