The Times continue to be solid on this issue.

langclegflavoredbananamush · 10/06/2020 12:59

I'm so sad to see how her replies to kids who have sent their illustrations of the Ickabod are being attacked by the TRAs. They can't leave anything alone. There are lots of charming, wonderful kid's drawings from the Ickabod story on the hashtag...

Is Maajid Nawaz a journalist? Well, he has a show on LBC and pens occasional columns so kinda, I suppose:

Hadley Freeman has tweeted Rowling's article with these words:

"So look, I know all too well what a viciously partisan topic this has become. But to the people I follow on here who have been denouncing
@jk_rowling, can you please read this essay and explain to me what, exactly, you object to?"

TheShoesa · 10/06/2020 20:47

I bought a Jeremy Duns book yesterday as a thanks to him for standing up for JKR. I'll read it while I'm waiting for my pre-ordered Robert Galbraith!

Ginkypig · 10/06/2020 23:52

James Dreyfus (gimme gimme gimme, thin blue line etc) seems to be very supportive of jk. Iv not looked very far back on his twitter and I can't say I know much about his views on things as I haven't done much searching but I get the impression he agrees with much of what she is saying.

I happened to be Googling him today as he is on tv tonight and he has posted several supportive tweets.
He mentions losing "followers" but seems uninterested in the fallout of being publicly supportive.

I think James Dreyfus has long been an ally to women and girls.

VortexofBloggery · 11/06/2020 01:03

Maajid Nawaz supporting JKR on this is a pleasant surprise?

Ian Dunt
twitter.com/IanDunt/status/1270783847215628298
"Whatever people's views on this issue, and regardless of whether they agree with what Rowling says here, this is a reasonable and entirely legitimate argument. She does not deserve the hateful commentary directed at her."
and
twitter.com/IanDunt/status/1270784297599983616
"As it happens, and not that it matters, I disagree with a few bits of it. But I hugely admire her bravery, kindness and independence of mind."

Freespeecher · 11/06/2020 09:07

Support is more implied than directly stated but JKR is mentioned on the Triggernometry boys podcast with Dave Rubin:

No, I'd say he's been consistently GC. He talked about Laurel Hubbard and Fallon Fox when he was on Joe Rogan with Sam Harris (and Rogan has millions of followers).

Muriel Gray. Not a blue tick but a well known and we'll respected Scottish broadcaster and journalist.

BentBastard · 11/06/2020 10:20

To be honest, I don't expect a man to understand and agree with it because they haven't the first clue of the reality of life as a woman, and that, is rather the point!

Hi James!

I wonder if they'll let Hadley keep working from home after the lockdown is fully lifted. Can't imagine any break room at The Guardian would be a fun place for her to be.

Philosopher Nigel Warburton defending JKR on free speech grounds, objecting to people 'shouting her down'. Guess what most of the responses are like.

This is a great thread, thanks all.
