JK Rowling threatening legal action

A TRA and Canadian Green Party rep has made libellous comments about JK regarding her position on trans rights and her suitability to be trusted around children.
JK asked her to retract them or they would hear from JK's lawyers. Currently they are digging in. Seemingly unaware that JK has pursued legal cases based on Twitter comments before and that it isn't acceptable to make unfounded statements about people.
It will be interesting to see how it unfolds.
It could have wider reaching consequences if certain sectors see they can't just make unfounded accusations any more.

One suggest that they should harass her by sending pictures of "dicks and stuff".

Archiving tweets and posts is not mandatory TheChampagneGalop, it's just that I've long lost count of the number of times there's a thread here about a truly horrible TRA social media comment and it's deleted when the commentor realise that people outside their bubble are reading it in horror.

This one seems very clearly actionable. What is it with the 'posing with swords' I wonder, not very much at all.

I really, really hope she does. It will send a twofold message about general trolls defaming other people on social media and the TRA thinking they are untouchable.

I feel that asking 'How stupid are these people?' is probably both redundant and inviting a discovery of depths we haven't begun to plumb yet.

Seriously though, I'm just sitting back with arms folded and blinking in surprise. And there's a poor daft TRA on a thread in FWR right now trying to push the TWAW schtick, seemingly oblivious to their coreligionists sending threats to one of the most influential and powerful women, probably in the world, and planning to send dick pics to a hashtag set up for kids?
