Apparently, in order to get us all back shopping again, it is essential that we should all share toilets. Because that is cleaner?

OP posts:
Lordfrontpaw · 25/05/2020 10:49

‘Dad’ would do what everyone else does. Take the kids with him or don’t go out alone with 3 small children and think he can keep an eye on the all.

More ‘access’ loos then. For disabled and families/parents. But this isn’t the sexy ‘hot’ issue now is it? It never has been.

Hazelnutlatteplease · 25/05/2020 10:50

Bananabixfloof

As much irony of women complaining about privacy when there are seperate cubicles.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/05/2020 10:50

What is the point exactly? No one said that no woman in the world would prefer mixed sex toilets?

Hazelnutlatteplease · 25/05/2020 10:51

The most access loos you can get is unisex.

LillianBland · 25/05/2020 10:51

Hazelnutlatteplease You haven’t explained why you object to three toilets, so all feel included and parents can take their children, without worrying about upsetting other users.

Hazelnutlatteplease

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/05/2020 10:51

Those women don't feel that they are sufficient for "privacy", Hazel. Not seeing any irony there?

YetAnotherSpartacus · 25/05/2020 10:52

If you go to France the disabled loo is rarely seperated anyway

But it should be. That's a failing on their part that it isn't.

Lordfrontpaw · 25/05/2020 10:53

So most access loos are unisex? Because they are generally single standing, enclosed facilities.

But we do need more. Not fewer single sex facilities.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/05/2020 10:53

Dad and 3 toddlers? Don't you dare use the ladies, use the disabled . Don't want men in the ladies.

Well no. Female toilets are not the place for men. Not sure why that is so very hard to grasp?

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 25/05/2020 10:54

So the men's are for men and the ladies is for everyone. Of course.

Hazelnutlatteplease · 25/05/2020 11:01

So the men's are for men and the ladies is for everyone

Yes because DS can walk to a cubicle in the ladies and not see a ladies private parts.

I can't walk through the men's and respect their privacy without not being able to see what im doing. Which is not so good if you have a child prone to falling and tripping

Unisex removes the dilemma.

Lordfrontpaw · 25/05/2020 11:02

So does more access loos.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/05/2020 11:02

Or you could join the men who don't like urinals in their long running campaign to have them removed?

LillianBland · 25/05/2020 11:05

I’m still waiting for you’re argument against three toilets, Hazelnutlatteplease

Hazelnutlatteplease · 25/05/2020 11:05

I dont think there's anything more either of us can post without repeating ourselves.

We disagree. I think we've both covered the reasons why.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/05/2020 11:05

As we've established Hazel there is no solution that works for everyone. You are prioritising your needs, which is a perfectly reasonable position to take. So are others.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 25/05/2020 11:06

Unisex removes the dilemma

It might resolve your dilemma, but it causes multiple, massive dilemmas for many others, women and girls and some men too.

It's not all about you.

Beamur · 25/05/2020 11:07

I think the people insisting on unisex being the only answer simply have their fingers in their ears to any argument for single sex.
Personally, I prefer single sex, so does my DD and I will and have complained if that is withdrawn.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 25/05/2020 11:07

A man or a boy post puberty can't walk into the ladies without violating their privacy. The fact that you don't care about other women's privacy doesn't mean it doesn't exist or that it won't feel violated.

LillianBland · 25/05/2020 11:08

I think there's anything more either of us can post without repeating ourselves.

We disagree. I think we've both covered the reasons why.

That’s a cope out and you know it. Three toilets would benefit everyone, so why are you against that? Why are you pushing for ALL the toilets to be mixed, when you know most people don’t want that?

Hazelnutlatteplease · 25/05/2020 11:13

It's not all about you.

Totally agree with Ereshkigalangcleg we all promote our own needs .

But saying its all abput you is a bit of an own goal. By promoting single sex you are promoting your needs over mine and my child's, especially as he gets older. How is that any better?

You have every right to disagree. At this moment enough people agree with you that we still have single sex.

But the statement all women want is wrong. Not all women want. I dont and I know many other mums of SN children and adults who disagree.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 25/05/2020 11:17

But saying its all abput you is a bit of an own goal. By promoting single sex you are promoting your needs over mine and my child's, especially as he gets older. How is that any better

Because we are promoting the needs of a great majority - women and girls - over a distinct minority - as you say you and your child's.

LillianBland · 25/05/2020 11:21

Why aren’t you answering the question? You’re waffling around it like a politician.

I’m starting to suspect that your demand for mixed sex toilets are less about your son and more about pushing women into losing female only spaces.

Hazelnutlatteplease · 25/05/2020 11:24

That’s a cope out and you know it. Three toilets would benefit everyone, so why are you against that?

Its not a cop out but repeating the same points gets boring.

I said in my first post that unisex would allow other family members of either sex to take DS into the loo but still be able to call me in if there was a problem. To elaborate at the moment if a male member takes him in and unexpectedly finds he needs cleaning up I cant go in and sort it out without heading into the males. A female member "shouldn't be taking him into the female loo" . Unisex makes it so much easier

If you have three loos DS would be able to access 30% or toilets. Unisex 100%. Especially when we are ambulant which would mean wheelchair accessible is left to those who need to space.. they will never make 50% of toilets wheelchair accessible because it would take up to make space. Realistically 3 spaces will mean they slap a gender neutral sign on the disabled

Me too actually, Id like to be able to use 100% of toilets available. Theres some suggestions that unisex loos reduce the time women spend wait considerably.

Hazelnutlatteplease · 25/05/2020 11:27

Because we are promoting the needs of a great majority - women and girls - over a distinct minority - as you say you and your child's.

I dont view the needs of a deeply unrepresented, deeply vulnerable and heavily discriminated against minority as less important than any majority.
