Legal action against CPS launched over their LGBT Hate Crime Guidance

All the news here. Safe Schools Alliance and Fair Cop are supporting a 14 year old girl take action against the CPS not he basis their LGBT hate crime guidance puts her at risk.

To quote SSAUK "We find it disturbing that this guidance seeks to control the ‘personal thoughts’ of children, we believe this to be damaging to children’s mental health. It also has a chilling effect on free speech which is the antithesis of effective #safeguarding."

The girls says ""Girls should not have to stay silent when they are uncomfortable with males in their toilets. This is supposed to be anti-bullying guidance but I feel intimidated that I would have to stay silent. That's not anti-bullying; not for girls."

This is big news, please share as much as you can.

This is such excellent news, I am so pleased. Every court action - and hopefully, every success - makes these accusations of hatred and bigotry look even more hollow and ridiculous. Fingers crossed for Supreme Court victory for Fair Cop and then my cup runneth over.

She's a mature, thoughtful, and resilient girl, and I am extremely proud of her.

I wrote to the CPS to complain about these guidelines and got a completely unsatisfactory reply, so have gladly donated.

Thank you to everyone who is working on this challenge - especially the teenage girl. It is definitely right to challenge that guidence. I hope you are granted a judicial review. Will donate.

Out of interest are any of the examples in the guidance about transmen/boys as this is more prevalent in secondary schools as I understand it from the figures.

I am extremely curious about why the definition of an LGBT hate incident in the PDF document

“Any incident which is perceived to be homophobic or transphobic by the victim, or by any otherperson.”

seems to be a common causal factor behind police intervention only when trans identifying people and their supporters feel that someone else has done something transphobic but not when lesbians experience homophobia from trans activists.

Is this because lesbians do not report violence / stalking / doxxing from TRAs as homophobic hates crimes or for some other reason?

Personally I have a significant problem with the above definition of a hate crime of any kind as it is so subjective likely to be abused by people with ongoing disputes with others in real life or online.
