All the news here. Safe Schools Alliance and Fair Cop are supporting a 14 year old girl take action against the CPS not he basis their LGBT hate crime guidance puts her at risk.

To quote SSAUK "We find it disturbing that this guidance seeks to control the ‘personal thoughts’ of children, we believe this to be damaging to children’s mental health. It also has a chilling effect on free speech which is the antithesis of effective #safeguarding."

The girls says ""Girls should not have to stay silent when they are uncomfortable with males in their toilets. This is supposed to be anti-bullying guidance but I feel intimidated that I would have to stay silent. That's not anti-bullying; not for girls."

This is big news, please share as much as you can.

I am extremely curious about why the definition of an LGBT hate incident in the PDF document

“Any incident which is perceived to be homophobic or transphobic by the victim, or by any otherperson.”

seems to be a common causal factor behind police intervention only when trans identifying people and their supporters feel that someone else has done something transphobic but not when lesbians experience homophobia from trans activists

This is a very good point indeed, hoodathunkit.

It’s striking how despite the lip service to including the LGB, only potential “incidents” against the T seem to count in this definition.

Almost as if all LGBT folk are equal but some are more equal than others.

Almost as if all LGBT folk are equal but some are more equal than others.

It may be that way. Alternatively it may be that the TRAs are simply more likley to report "hate crimes" than lesbians?

Have any lesbians reported being stalked, doxxed, harrased and assaulted as homphobic hate crimes?

It would be interesting to see what happened if they did.

This is a complex issue, not least because of the under-funding of the police service, the reduction of officers and the stripping back of services.

A couple of years back a woman acquaintance was subjected to misogynist bullying by a neighbour and I phoned 101 to see if she could report it as a hate crime. The loud groan when I asked the call handler suggested that this was not something the police want to do. In fact the call handler stated as much.

I can understand the police's reluctance to deal with misogyny as a hate crime, not least because the current definition of hate crime means that it is abused all the time to settle scores / disputes and to use the police as a stick with which pissed off minorities can beat their enemies.

The definition either needs to narrow or to expand. My vote would be for it to narrow as the basis of it being defined by any person's subjective perception makes it unworkable and subject to abuse.

Donated. BigBad, your daughter is a total shero.

Binterested · 28/04/2020 12:26

I have donated and will be writing to my Conservative mp about this.

It's totally unworkable. People get the wrong idea about stuff all the time.

Sillydoggy · 30/04/2020 14:28

I am so impressed at the bravery of this girl! Well done and thank you and donated of course.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 30/04/2020 17:10

Getting worried now.

Legal action against CPS launched over their LGBT Hate Crime Guidance
Aesopfable · 30/04/2020 18:10

That is good but where does it leave the judicial review? They could just bring it back unchanged.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 30/04/2020 18:17

About bloody time. Out of all the awful trans guidelines (and there's plenty of choice in terms of breaching safeguarding, parental alienation etc) this was the most sinister and unpleasant in terms of grooming children and young people to ignore boundaries.
Hopefully this will get plenty of press coverage as currently schools (understandably) uncritically obey what organisations like the CPS, Stonewall etc dictate to them.
Well done to SSAUK and that courageous young woman. Flowers Flowers Flowers

MoleSmokes · 30/04/2020 18:36

The good news is also on another thread by @Spero !

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 30/04/2020 18:42

That’s a brilliant start and hopefully the papers pick up on it.

Melroses · 30/04/2020 18:54

HermioneWeasley · 30/04/2020 19:29

Fantastic news!

R0wantrees · 30/04/2020 19:47

Great news.

Important to remember that this school toolkit for key stages 3 and 4 was published by the CPS in partnership with NSPCC, Stonewall, Gendered Intelligence, NASUWT & the National Police Chiefs’ Council.

hi everyone, thanks for updating the thread and to @TheBigBad's DD - a massive thanks to her. You should be so proud. We literally couldn't have done this with out.

There is a full statement from SSAUK and Fair Cop here:
safeschoolsallianceuk.net/2020/04/30/cps-guidance-withdrawn-for-review/

To answer a couple of questions: yes, they have withdrew to review and we will be keeping a close eye on what happens next. As for the Oxfordshire case, as far as we know they are not backing down. It will be interesting to see if this decision has any bearing on what they decide to do next.

This is significant news and can be used to show that any advice or guidance issued by Stonewall, GI or other lobby groups is legally questionable.

Thanks for all your support.
