Great stuff. I remember seeing reports of MNers seeing the adult human female postcards in the Science Museum shop. Now it seems they were being deposited all over the place before the lockdown. Brava, women!

RobinMoiraWhite maybe you can arrange to have the dictionary arrested. Or failing that just find a copy and punch it.

JellySlice · 13/04/2020 18:35

Shall we ignore Robin's offensive plopping, and return our focus instead to that beautiful article?

How different the postcard-placers felt - some brave, some terrified - yet each felt empowered by her small action. Each one knew that she was doing something worthwhile and important.

An amazing direct action that caused no danger and no harm.

LastTrainEast · 13/04/2020 18:38

I do think it is a brilliant idea and amusing that it might make some money for the place too.

LadyBBKing · 13/04/2020 18:53

There must have some element of fear and then yet joy leaving postcards describing what a woman is on shelves in public places.
Best of all (and this is for the Robins) I showed my teen daughter the article and she told me I was weird.. "of course women are adult human females!, what are you on about woman!".

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 13/04/2020 18:53

I'm sure I've seen one of these postcards while out over the Christmas period which really surprised me because I though only half a dozen right wing religious fanatics with hundreds of sock accounts each really believe it. I thought its supposed to be

Woman: Just a feeling 💅

Michelleoftheresistance · 13/04/2020 19:11

Quite, Lady.

The response to the massive majority of people on being told a dictionary definition postcard is anything but a statement of fact is going to be 'don't be so damn silly'.

Just how silly this political lobby truly is gets demonstrated around here on a daily basis with no self awareness whatever.

WrathofFaeKIopp · 13/04/2020 19:30

A hate crime, I would have thought

Robin
You are the vanguard of Godwins Law.

Nazis? ffs.

Twat.

RobinMoiraWhite · 13/04/2020 20:30

Predictable. I see not one of the commentator's to my earlier post has the intellectual courage to think through this act of hatred from the perspective of a trans person, given the nasty baggage that has attached to that particular statement presented in that particular way. Just as the sanskrit 'peace' synbol has come to mean something different. By all means carry on acting through hatred but dont be surprised by the effect that has on to the reception of your argument.

WrathofFaeKIopp · 13/04/2020 20:39

Yes JellySlice

This is a truth that deserves respect and needs repeating.

Respect for women and girls rights.

LadyBBKing · 13/04/2020 20:57

No hatred Robin.

A woman is an adult human female who deserves the rights and freedom women have fought for for centuries

A transwoman is a transwoman

GrumpyGran8 · 13/04/2020 21:04

I see you're assuming that there are no trans people on this board. How predictably genderist of you.
As to 'courage' (intellectual or otherwise), you've no idea about the huge range of life experiences, education, intellect, beliefs, politics and so on, of the many, many women on here. To you, we're every one of us just trans-hating witches, bigot, fascists and monsters.
If I were you, I'd spend a few days reading through the threads on here before posting again.

When Robin describes the statement 'Adult Human Female' as having nasty baggage attached to it, shows exactly what Robin thinks about women and girls.

DodoPatrol · 13/04/2020 21:17

I’ll accept that I don’t know what it’s like to be trans when you accept that you don’t know what it’s like to be a woman, Robin.

Michelleoftheresistance · 13/04/2020 21:28

Intellectual courage... oh the irony.

And no, this board is about female people thinking about things from female perspectives, so whinging about them telling you your fortune for being so incredibly, offensively crass, and framing that as merely them failing to wallow in sufficient compassion males when females state boundaries, cuts no ice.

You do your cause no good whatever with this nonsense.

Thelnebriati · 13/04/2020 21:33

Women's bodies and women's speech are a constant problem for women haters.

I think it was LangCleg who explained how it is actually girls bodies are the problem, in another context. Girls had been told to change their school clothes into something less revealing, for fear they would distract the teachers and the boys.

Pertella · 13/04/2020 21:36

Robin, your post was given the exact amount of consideration it deserved.

Soontobe60 · 13/04/2020 21:40

Go on then @RobinMoiraWhite. What is your definition of woman?

Excellent work by those women.

Thinkingabout1t · 13/04/2020 23:10

The truly terrifying thing is that stating who you are is being called a hate crime.

I am a woman, an adult human being. It’s not a fantasy. It’s not a feeling. It’s not a choice. It’s not an expression of hate for someone else, although a narcissist will obviously think everything is about him. I have no other option, because I have no fantasy alternative identity. So I am being denied an identity.

FloralBunting · 13/04/2020 23:40

Brave those women.

🤣 at responding to the definition of woman with "But what about meeee?" and not quite realizing exactly how much it underlines the poster is not a member of that specific group...

⚽️🥅⬅️I think this one is at your end of the pitch...

TehBewilderness · 13/04/2020 23:47

SonEtLumiere

"Godwin's law is an Internet adage asserting that "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1"

I think we need to formulate a misogynist rule regarding the appearance of a male in a Feminist discussion directly correlating to the likelyhood of Feminists being called nazis.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 13/04/2020 23:55

I wonder what the legal situation is in relation to leaving these?

Unleash the krakensplainer!

TehBewilderness · 14/04/2020 00:11

You'd think a barrister could just look it up under marketing and advertising regulations instead of chanting feminazi wouldn't you?
