Why is there such a large portion of the feminist movement so against trans culture. Trans people have been some of the biggest advocates for supporting allegedly oppressed groups. Why is it suddenly okay to for feminists (a formally oppressed group) to oppress trans people (currently oppressed group) why?

Well while I love Lemon crisps. Nothing quite like the melting chocolate experience of a Tim tam dipped in tea. It is like tea AND my own version of a chocolate fondue (although I really detest actual chocolate fondues).

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 09/04/2020 13:26

like a dense palmier, more of a cracker texture. It has a wash of a kind of sugar syrup which is sprinkled with salt. The lemon filling is quite firm and sweet, flavoured with lemon oil.

I thought pron was frowned upon on this board?

TinselAngel · 09/04/2020 13:31

The packet mix for the lemon bit of lemon meringue pie, which my mum has always used, is powder (the thickener I presume) with a red pearl which contains the lemon flavour and dissolves when you add it all to (IIRC) hot milk.

I'd imagined the lumps in bubble tea to be like that.

No need for tedious lemon squeezing etc with the magic packet. (Which I still think is like lemon blancmange).

ThePankhurstConnection · 09/04/2020 13:33

I think this was the recipe.. I added a bit more lemon and a hefty salt sprinkle.

Thank you for making the thread worth it. Smile

I think the perfect lockdown drink is a Bloody Mary. Fresh lemon juice and a serious quantity of tabasco.....

Oh now you're talking - my favourite drink. Try it with a touch of wasabi too.

Pandoraslastchance · 09/04/2020 13:48

We used to get chocolate buttons with our rice pudding/semolina/fisheye slop.

Blancmonge is awful and cold custard just needs to get in the bin.

I would never make pudding from a packet or cake from a cake mix. Puddings and cakes are either worth making properly or not at all. A good "home made" shop bought version will be far nicer than "home made" from a packet.

IAmFleshIAmBone · 09/04/2020 14:10

Feminism is dead because we thought it was more fun to talk about puddings Confused well, shit.

TinselAngel · 09/04/2020 14:13

Ah well, each to their own Dido.

Danceswithwarthogs · 09/04/2020 14:15

Yep, but I’m not spending hours of my life and organic whipping cream/fresh lemons etc on something my children will only eat because it’s made into the shape of a racing car.

Can not argue with this

(And i am thinking very hard of an argument...)

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 09/04/2020 15:09

Away with all this fancy dessertery!

I want a bread-and-butter pudding with chopped-up bits of dark chocolate instead of raisins, and I haven't got any bread.

Sad
ScrimpshawTheSecond · 09/04/2020 15:16

I want chocolate mousse cake. I probably even have the ingredients but it feels a bit like I'll get a knock on the door for inappropriate debauchery if I make one right now. Might need to open some wine to get past the guilt.

Turquoiseeyes · 09/04/2020 15:16

Raisin cookies are the reason I have trust issues. I bit into what I thought was a chocolate chip cookie and it was a fecking raisin cookie Disgraceful.
btw what is a shop bought "home made " dessert
I'm confused, please help. I'm easily confused though.

Danceswithwarthogs · 09/04/2020 15:20

I’m prepared to stand corrected but I heard once that it’s considered bad manners in France to attempt a home made dinner party dessert. Patisserie or nothing

ErrolTheDragon · 09/04/2020 15:20

There may be a certain amount of 'what can I make with random stuff from the back of the cupboard' going on...are naice cake shops/counters open? Although I've just realised one of the home delivery services available to us that we're resist g at the moment is the local 'shop bought homemade' cake and pie shop. I'm ok with my egg custards for now, but I might make a fantasy list.

Following this thread has been like reading the weird result of a writer who accidentally staples their thriller novel to a Nigella cookbook, so you wind up with the man who walks into a bar trying to start a fight, and five minutes later everyone is talking about the creaminess of texture

Extra points for the occasional return to discuss the OP’s points which only spring boards more discussion of school dinners

Btw, I like Blancmange, Living On The Ceiling was an excellent song

DidoLamenting · 09/04/2020 15:36

Puds and cakes sold by independent cake shops and patisseries who bake products on their own premises or adapted home kitchens rather than industrialised kitchens. They will not be cheap and for all purposes look and taste as if they had been made by a good home baker (which is what they are) rather than Mr. Kipling.

  • i.e if I set up a cake shop I'd be making cakes etc. the same way and with same quality of ingredients I use for my own consumption but selling them in a shop.
Joliany · 09/04/2020 15:44

Trans people have been some of the biggest advocates for supporting allegedly oppressed groups.

The only groups I've seen tras advocate for is themselves. That hasn't changed. And women aren't oppressing you. We just don't want men in our spaces. That's not oppression. That's exercising our sex based rights. Hope this clears things up for you.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 09/04/2020 15:58

My friend makes the most awesome cakes

Very professional looking

I am being even more careful than usual not to waste food.
I made a bread and butter pudding out of slightly out of date hot cross buns.
It was extremely good, though I say it myself. [Smug]

Turquoiseeyes · 09/04/2020 16:09

Thanks Dido
That makes sense now

TinselAngel · 09/04/2020 16:09

I bought some treacle cornflake tart in my necessary grocery shopping yesterday, and OMG it's almost orgasmic. Another thing we used to have for school puddings.

midgebabe · 09/04/2020 16:19

Is this the place for buscuit advice? Mine are a bit soft

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 09/04/2020 16:20

Great use of Walnut Whips there Rufus. So difficult to get them with the walnuts on these days
