Rich celebrities produce lockdown video denouncing 'transphobia'

They include Kathleen Ryan, Stephen Fry, Frankie Boyle, Jameela Jamil, Dawn Butler, Matt Lucas, Jeremy Vine and Susie Green.

None of them explain what transphobia actually is, or what a trans person is or what a woman is, but some of the comments include Ryan saying 'there are weirdos out there who care about what bathroom you use' (presumably Ryan believes the mother of the girl Katie Dolatowski sexually assaulted in a supermarket girls' toilet is a 'weirdo') and Stephen Fry, who spent about a decade mocking creationists on QI, saying that trans people just want to be their authentic selves, without offering any scientific support to what he was saying.

And they've made this video as we're now entering more than 200 deaths per day in the UK due to coronavirus.

It's all just so silly, watching adults attempt to enforce a small child's view of "gender" on the entire world.

Children think that way because they lack life experience and their brains aren't finished developing yet. From adults there's really no excuse.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/04/2020 16:38

Silly is exactly the word. And unreasonable. TABVU.

Lordfrontpaw · 01/04/2020 16:40

So if Bowie looked like a woman - did Kate Moss look like a man who looked like a woman, when she wore one of his outfits to collect an award on his behalf? Or was that a model looking like a Bowie?

LittleCabbage · 01/04/2020 16:48

I haven't watched the video, but a PP has said Bake-off is dead to them now. Why? Who from GBBO is in the video?

Thinkingabout1t · 01/04/2020 16:59

A group of overpaid people who don't really understand what they're talking about, publicly standing up for male supremacism.

I feel sorry for celebs in the current crisis. There they are, shut in their exclusive multi-million pound properties with hardly anyone to tell them how special they are, frantically trying to think of new ways to get attention

Absolutely. And the video is 48 thrilling minutes long! I can't wait. Just going to get the popcorn now.

I even forgive stupid adults and assume they are either stupid by nature or being purposely stupid because of kindness. I do not have any time for scientists and doctors who have publicly gone on record to say humans can change sex, and that there are differences between male and female brains etc. If they were my colleague and I had to work directly with them, I’d be equally amused and bemused how they could say this with a straight face if they really meant it.

Matt Lucas is replacing Sandy (Sorry, can't spell her last name) as one of the hosts of the show.

EthelMayFergus · 01/04/2020 22:17

Dh listens to Jeremy Vine at lunch time sometimes (when he forgets to turn over after Ken Bruce) and I honestly think he has difficulty with comprehension - JV not dh.

Eg. he introduced a man with the detail that he had no idea who his father was until he was 19 years old. Two minutes later the man described an incident when he was 12, JV interrupted to say 'So was that when you knew who your father was?' Ermm....you've just said yourself that he was 19. He's demonstrated his comprehension difficulties so many times on his show, not surprised he's caught up in this. He's really sycophantic when Jane Fae's on his show too.

Ritascornershop · 01/04/2020 22:58

48 minutes. Well. Oh my.

I’m disappointed in Joe Lycett, he seemed a clever enough person. And Judd Apatow has got to know this is bollocks.

Generally speaking it’s incredibly tone-deaf when Covid is high-lighting the problems in society with isolation, the elderly, people with abusive partners, children with abusive parents, the poor ... I could go on about a vast array of people with real world problems who are suffering from more than upset over pronouns.

And the child’s voice announcing “The Sarah O’Connell Show”? That was disturbing.

Matt Lucas is a grade A wanker. I had no idea that he was going to be presenting GBBO. I will not be watching it and I used to really like it.

Oh no! I love Bake-Off - and especially Noel ( doesn't everyone?) - you know that long haired, make-up wearing, flirtatious, expressive, delightful....... man.

You know the way that some gay men used to speculate whether that gorgeous, sexy heterosexual guy who they fancied was really gay..?.I reckon many now speculate that Noel is really repressed 'trans', or suggest that certain famous lesbians, or independent women, in history were too.

Campervan69 · 02/04/2020 11:10

Can't understand why we had to have another bloke on GBO anyway. Surely there are plenty of female presenters available. But yes I agree I can't stand Matt Lucas so won't be watching anymore.

KaronAVyrus · 02/04/2020 11:12

Matt Lucas isn’t even bloody funny. He’s done a few Saturday/Sunday shows on bbc radio 2 and he was completely wooden. You could tell he read the whole thing off a script. Was awful.

Lordfrontpaw · 02/04/2020 11:12

I didnt like him from way back on the Bob and Mortimer (?) show. I thought he came across as not very nice and rather bitchy - a cruel sense of humour.

Little Britain and so much of TV comedy/panel shows became really nasty at some point in the 90's?....Graham Norton as well.......never liked it at all.

HerMajBishop · 02/04/2020 11:26

All of those ‘celebs’ are general tossers, so this stupid video just confirms my opinion of them.

Stephen Fry is thick, though. Who knew?

Lordfrontpaw · 02/04/2020 11:27

We were talking about April fools yesterday - when did it become so cruel? When I was a kid it was silly puns - there's a leak/leek in the bathroom! There's a bee/B in the kitchen! Or boiling an egg and slipping it back into the carton of fresh ones (mwahaha).

Now is seems to be how to make your kids cry and put the video on social media - or devastate your partner by telling them that you've won the lottery then humiliating them when the fall for the 'joke'.

koshkatt · 02/04/2020 12:15

Social media has given idiots a real outlet for their stupidity and cruelty sadly.

Lordfrontpaw · 02/04/2020 12:20

Yup. It’s inevitable really. Like when they produced a talking doll that ‘learned’ to communicate with human interaction.

I remember thinking ‘is it wise to let the general public get involved? I think it was pulled after 3 days (lots of swears and racism from the dolly). Dolly McDollface perhaps?
