A few questions for feminists

ConservativeV8 · 19/03/2020 18:58

  1. Why is feminism so small in number? They get plenty of airtime but it isn't catching on. Women know about it so why no support?
  1. Feminists want equality of opportunity and equality of outcome but how can you have both when it's impossible? You want to give women choice, but then want exactly 50% of men and women in each industry. This can only be achieved by forcing women (and men) to do jobs they don't want to or choose to do. Explain?
  1. Why do you think the earnings difference is due to gender when time and time again it has been shown it has nothing or very little to do with it. Why feminists not take into account the 40 or so factors which affect earnings, such as men are more likely to work longer hours, do more overtime, take less holidays, work more dangerous jobs, willing to relocate, willing to commute further, etc etc?

Please discuss.

IIRC it was the consensus that the MM is in either the US West Coat time zone or OZ.

"Does anyone know where he posts from?

1953?"
Priceless

ScapaFlo · 20/03/2020 23:12

Admin girls with degrees, no less

Agrona · 20/03/2020 23:35

The delusion is strong in this one, i.e. Conservative.

CircleofWillis · 20/03/2020 23:36

Ok, what is an 'admin girl'? Everyone else on this thread seems to know but my brain is drawing a complete blank. Doesn't everyone do their own admin nowadays? That was the whole point of computers.

Could it be the OP is actually mistaking all his female colleagues for the typing pool from 9-5. (I love you Dolly!)

Truckman · 21/03/2020 01:59

I remember this dude from previous troll threads on here - think it's the 'please discuss'.

That said, the recent thread on here called something like 'not working a privilege' somewhat changed my views about women being 'forced into wifework' a bit. There were a hell of a lot of posts that said things like "I'm so lucky to have a high earning husband and spend my day as I choose."

Truckman · 21/03/2020 02:00

Doh, meant to type not working is a privilege.

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 21/03/2020 07:47

I am a sales administrator and in my time have been an admin assistant. I've never had to dress or feed any of my colleagues though, and the women I've worked with would make the OP feel like this thread feel like a gentle mauling by a litter of kittens in comparison.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 21/03/2020 07:58

Oh, Ron Burgundy is still here? Has anyone offered to send him a bottle of Sex Panther yet? Normally I wouldn't, for the sake of his hypothetical coworkers, but with the offices being closed and all...

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 21/03/2020 08:44

My organisation still has team administrators and PAs. I suppose you could roughly apply the term "admins" to them, but some of them are men, and if you told any of them (of either sex) to help you get dressed in the morning or go and make you a hot drink, you'd be given short shrift. Not that anyone I work with is lacking in the basic manners and respect that would lead them to do that in the first place.

Datun · 21/03/2020 09:39

I can't be bothered to scroll back up. Did he actually say an 'admin girl' puts his tie on for him in the morning?

Does she then pull off her studious looking specs whilst dragging the pins from her bun and lusciously shaking her tumbling locks as she fair faints away from uncontrollable lust?

Winesalot · 21/03/2020 10:23

Just caught up. I think that this must be a woman. Sent to relieve boredom and is having a wonderful laugh over a glass of wine.

Or maybe someone trying out themes for Donald Trump’s election speeches.

I, too, was going to post Mr Beans mini but got trumped. Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 21/03/2020 10:52

Does she then pull off her studious looking specs whilst dragging the pins from her bun and lusciously shaking her tumbling locks as she fair faints away from uncontrollable lust?

No, you're confusing her with the 'science girl', who always wears a slightly too-tight, clean white lab coat.
Except I don't suppose the MM works in that sort of industry.

HorseRadishFemish · 21/03/2020 10:53

Somebody help, please.

AMA? MM?

CircleofWillis · 21/03/2020 11:36

AMA - ask me anything
MM - midnight misogynist

Thelnebriati · 21/03/2020 12:02

@Truckman Can you link to that thread? When you say 'here' do you mean on Feminism Chat, or on Mumsnet generally? I can find several similar threads on AIBU. That's not an attitude I recognise from feminism, most of us think women should earn their own money for their own protection.

HorseRadishFemish · 21/03/2020 13:49

Thank you circle.

I had many female lecturers who I greatly admire.

Oh my actual god 😀🤣😂🤣

I made Japanese milk bread rolls yesterday for the first time and with a few adjustments it is going to be my go to bread recipe from now on.
It is not vegan as it uses milk eggs and butter to excellent effect.
I have been using the same basic recipe, with adjustments, from a 1930s cookbook for over fifty years. No more. Using tangzhong is magical and mysterious and amazing.
